The Chairman’s Bonus: The Incentive Program For Serious Business Builders

The Chairman’s bonus is a Forever Living incentive program that gives business builders and learners a chance to earn a percentage of the company’s global revenue every single year — imagine earning a share of $2,310 million (Forever’s turnover for 2020).

In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the Chairman’s Bonus, how you can qualify for it and my journey throughout the years of earning my Chairman’s Bonus.

So, What is A Chairman’s Bonus Exactly?

In a nutshell, it’s like receiving a 13-month paycheck that is presented to you whilst on a paid-for trip somewhere around the globe that includes flights, accommodation and spending money for 2.

Not sure what other businesses roll out the red carpet for business leaders like Forever Living does!

What Do You Need To Do To Qualify?

You have to be what we call a “manager” in the business.

This typically means you should have assembled a team of around 20-25 people.

You also have to have helped someone else become a manager so it’s about consistently being there for your team and helping them develop and reach their own goals.

As part of the incentive, you have to introduce new business throughout the year and help your team drive volume in sales and also achieve our Forever 2 Drive program (which is a monthly bonus that many put towards a car).

Earning bigger bonuses depends on helping as many different downlines in your team so that they too can qualify for the Chairman’s Bonus themselves.

My Chairman’s Bonus Journey — The Beginning

I joined the company in 2006 and never ever imagined I would be able to qualify for a bonus…

To me, it was really only something that other more confident people could achieve.

However, bit by bit my confidence grew and 5 years later I achieved my first Chairman’s Bonus cheque.

I was so proud of myself and it equated to around £3500 which meant I was able to put it towards taking Will and Rosie on their first ski holiday.

This was a total dream come true as I had always skied as a child and wanted that same experience for my kids, but I didn’t see how it would be possible as a single mum.

The following year I was able to achieve a similarly sizeable cheque and again was elated.

My Third Year of Achieving The Chairman’s Bonus Was When The “Magic” Started

In my third year with Forever I started helping others achieve the company incentive.

In fact, this year it was 4 of us girls, but in one downline, so the ripple effect was starting to happen…

I remember it like yesterday…we got flown out to Hawaii to pick it up which was a dream come true as I got to fulfil one of my bucketlist items by swimming with dolphins.

I was working long hours around being a single mum as I wanted to build our financial independence as quickly as I could and keep the momentum of growth in our team on fire.

Nothing happens overnight!

There were lots of critics (often people are so busy casting stones because they’re unsatisfied with their own lives), loads of difficult times and many long nights, but I had a goal and that was to create a business where I could work around my kids and hopefully inspire them along the way.

The Next Level of Success

In 2014, I picked up a cheque for $45,000 and I was absolutely astounded as I was already earning far more on a monthly basis than I had in my marketing career.

I was now even hungrier for success and was showing my kids that if you work for something consistently on a daily basis that anything. could. happen!

My ultimate goal was to put them through private education and that was what the program was enabling me to do.

I then had the vision to renovate our dream home, but being self-employed makes getting a mortgage challenging.

That just ended up motivating me more and as my accounts were starting to fill up and the momentum rolled on, so did the vision of getting my family into our dream home become a whole lot clearer.

Realising The Dream I Worked So Hard For

The Chairman’s Bonus program was my way to achieve the family hope I dreamt of and 2015 and 2016 totally secured our future.

My bonus went from $45,000 to $682,000 in a year as I went from helping 2 lines of people achieve this incentive to 6.

That feeling was the most overwhelming moment of my life as I never imagined my bonus jumping that much…I cried my eyes out.

There was no stopping the momentum at that point and the following year I was awarded the second biggest cheque in the company of $1007,066 — an utterly life-changing amount of money.

How was that even possible?

This time around it was the kids who were crying. I asked them why and they said, “Mum, because we are so proud of you.”

I knew then I had reached my ultimate goal!

That year I bought my dream home and I enjoyed slowing down and doing the renovating of the house, wanting to be there for every step and enjoy the fruits of my labour.

I had just turned 40 and was a single mum and I didn’t know then how my life would change even more dramatically…

By 41 I was pregnant, but with the business I had so painstakingly built, I was being paid on the turnover of my business alongside the amount of people I helped to qualify.

I took my foot off the peddle that year, but that’s the beauty of the business and the time and effort it took to create mine still paid dividends.

I couldn’t believe that despite working half the time I was still awarded $677,000.

What Life Looks Like Today

Phoebe and me

Phoebe was born in July 2018 and wow what a blessing has she been!

A totally magical experience and having no financial worries made motherhood a very different experience to when Will and Rosie were little where every penny was accounted for or needed to be found for extras.

I wanted to relish every moment and enjoy the unexpected gift I had. She has been a total blessing and as a family finally in our dream home we have made so many memories together already.

In September 2019 I married my builder who had done my two-year renovation and life has been at a far slower pace.

I totally love network marketing and all that it offers!

I got to number 2 in the world with my company, but it’s not my goal to stay there…

Now it’s my goal to have an amazing balance as a mum, a wife and a career woman.

I totally believe I have nailed it and work at a far more part-time rate and enjoy everything that motherhood and being a wife delivers.

As a result, my Chairman’s Bonus cheques are getting smaller as I am not working at the rate I was and developing/helping as many people earn theirs, but, I’m okay with that!

Lots of people join network marketing and have it as a lifetime career, others join and learn so much and use the skills to go off and do other things.

Some of my leaders have done so and I’m really proud of them and their entrepreneurial spirit.

My volume is lower as I’m not working as hard, I recruit fewer people and work fewer hours as now it’s totally about freedom.

I will always work for the Chairman’s Bonus as it’s simply the icing on the cake and there to make sure you consistently invite people to have this amazing opportunity, but I now enjoy TIME and balance and have more than I ever dreamt of already.

What’s Next?

This year’s event is taking place online and I’d really love to invite you to follow the event online 8-10 April #fgr21 and our team #powerteamtogether.

Message me on FB here or drop me a WhatsApp to find out about my joining offer and how I can help you earn just a little extra each month, but like me, it might just lead to bigger things!

15 Tips For Helping Kids With Anxiety During Lockdown

Helping kids with anxiety during lockdown has become a big focus for many parents since Covid completely changed everyone’s lives.

The mental health of many has suffered during this time — so it’s extremely important as a parent to make sure you are supporting your kids in the best possible way in order to help them thrive as they move through this weird time.

We all need social interaction and connection, but children especially need it, and if they aren’t getting it this can affect so many aspects of their life.

I have seen how my kids have struggled during this time and the dips they have gone through, so that is why I felt sharing more info on this topic is much needed — even if it just helps one parent with deeper insight into how they can best support their child.

This article will take a look at what anxiety is, potential causes of, symptoms of and tips of how you can help support your kids who may feel anxious or low.

I am no expert on this subject and make no claim to be one.

This article is merely a resource founded on the information of professionals and my own insight as a parent. I will cite all the necessary references.

With that said, let’s dive right in.

Firstly, What Is Anxiety?

anxious child

According to Young Minds, “anxiety is a feeling of worry or fear that is experienced as a combination of physical sensations, thoughts and feelings.”

Feeling anxious or worried sometimes as a child or young person is a natural part of the growing up journey.

At particular points in their life, like the first day of school, trying out for a sport or before writing an exam, it’s quite natural to feel some anxiety, but they should be able to soon calm down and feel better.

The problem occurs when a child feels all consumed by this feeling of anxiety and worry, they become stuck in it, overwhelmed by it or it becomes unmanageable and limits how they usually function and engage in everyday life.

If this level of stress and worry continues for a long period it can leave a child utterly exhausted, depleted and isolated.

If anxiety is something your child is struggling with, you can help them by giving emotional support, working on clear and practical approaches together and finding the best suited professional help if they require it.

A morning routine is a set of actions you perform in the morning, usually before your day’s main activity (like going to work), which makes you feel happy, healthy and focused for the day ahead.

What Can Cause Anxiety in Kids?

helping kids with anxiety who are lonely

There are many varying reasons for kids to feel anxious, this is dependent on the individual and their circumstances.

The most notable reason currently for many young people would be Covid and lockdown and the complete disconnect this has ushered into their lives.

If we as adults have felt lonely and isolated, imagine how a child may feel. Not being able to go play with their friends or have sleepovers. The life of children and teens has completely changed.

This, as well as the following kinds of things, can make some kids feel more anxious:

  • Experiencing big changes, hello Covid, or moving house or school
  • Having responsibilities that are beyond their age and development, for example caring for other people in their family
  • Being around someone who is struggling with their own mental health, such as a parent
  • Struggling at school — feeling overwhelmed by work, exams or peer groups
  • Experiencing family stress around things like living circumstances, money and debt
  • Going through distressing or traumatic experiences in which they do not feel safe, such as being bullied or witnessing or experiencing abuse

Symptoms Of Anxiety According To Young Minds

Anxiety tends to affect a young person’s body, thoughts and feelings. They may also behave differently, including turning to certain coping behaviours to try to avoid or manage their anxiety.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, please always consult a healthcare professional for clarity. This does give a general overview of what to keep an eye out for.

Physical symptoms:

  • panic attacks, which can include having a racing heart, breathing very quickly, sweating or shaking
  • shallow or quick breathing, or feeling unable to breathe
  • feeling sick
  • dry mouth
  • sweating more than usual
  • tense muscles
  • wobbly legs
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), diarrhoea or needing to pee more than usual
  • getting very hot

Thoughts and feelings:

  • preoccupied by upsetting, scary or negative thoughts
  • nervous, on edge, panicky or frightened
  • overwhelmed or out of control
  • full of dread or an impending sense of doom
  • alert to noises, smells or sights
  • worrying about being unable to cope with daily things like school, friendships and being in groups or social situations
  • worrying so much that it is difficult to concentrate and/or sleep

Coping behaviours:

  • withdrawing or isolating themselves – including not wanting to go to school, be in social or group situations, be away from parents or try new things
  • repeating certain behaviours, actions or rituals (often called ‘obsessive compulsive behaviours’)
  • eating more or less than usual
  • self-harming

Doing something for yourself first thing will naturally make you more relaxed and feeling happier.

Top Tips For Helping An Anxious Child

1. Keep The Channels Of Communication As Open As Possible

Make an effort to talk with them about what’s going on.

Let them know that their feelings are valid and that it’s okay to feel whatever emotions they are moving through whether that’s scared, worried, angry, sad or something else.

When helping kids with anxiety, seek to understand — ask them what it feels like in their mind and body, and what things make them feel the way they’re feeling.

Avoid dismissing their worries as tempting as it is in order to reassure them. It’s more important to empathise with their experience and validate their feelings.

Read ‘Good Parenting Tips For Improving Your Parenting Skills’ here.

2. Make An Effort To Answer Your Child’s Questions And Reassure Them In An Age Appropriate Manner

You don’t have to know all the answers when helping kids with anxiety, just the act of talking things through can help them feel calmer and more at ease.

3. Encourage Your Child To Do The Things That Will Bring Them Joy And Make Them Feel Calmer

This will vary for each individual — it could include things like doing exercise or going for a walk, watching a favourite film, reading a favourite book, cooking or baking, talking to friends, or drawing or writing.

4. Stick To Keeping As Many Regular Routines As Possible In Order To Help Your Child Feel Safe And Secure.

This can include things like having regular times for going to bed, waking up, eating meals and doing hobbies — this is especially important during a lockdown and Covid times.

5. Count Your Blessings and Practise Gratitude

A simple yet profound way to help your child feel good is by bringing their attention to all the things they are grateful for.

With all the restrictions and big changes that lockdown has imposed on us, it’s easy to get caught up in the negativity.

It’s so important to remember to shift focus and look at the many positive things we have in our lives — food on the table, a roof over our heads, warm beds to sleep in, support of friends and family and the internet to keep us connected to our loved ones, to name a few.

A lovely way to remind not just your children but the whole family is to each say three things you’re grateful for at the end of the day.

Read ‘How to Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude: For Mums Who Want To Feel Good’ here.

6. Read, Do Things Together

This is the time for honing skills and talents. Looking back how often did you say “I wish I had time to do X with my kids”.

Well now you do, so use this Covid time to stimulate your child’s interests. Ask them what they want to learn and read about.

Do this together as this will give you both a chance to feel connected and bond.

The main focus here is to be constructively occupied so that any anxious thoughts can be replaced with positive ones and alleviate any worried feelings and emotions.

7. Recognise Your Child’s Efforts

Acknowledging how well you have managed things so far is imperative and then doing the same for your child is important too.

You and your kids deserve a huge amount of credit for all you have traversed so far.  We are living in strange times and we’ve all had to learn how to adapt — for some this is easier than for others.

Recognise your child’s efforts to adjust to the uncertainty, celebrate even the smallest of achievements.

Children rely mostly on us to validate their efforts. They have moved from lives that are scheduled with classes, play dates and activities to confinement at home. This in itself deserves massive praise.

Let them know how proud you are of them and how well they are handling everything. Support and encourage them in staying connected regularly with their friends and family digitally.

8. Allow Them to Worry

It’s so easy to just say to your child, “you don’t need to worry about that”, but ultimately telling them not to worry won’t magically stop them from worrying so you have to be able to give them that space to share what’s on their heart.

A great way to facilitate this in doses that are more controlled is by creating a daily ritual called “Worry Time” that lasts 10 to 15 minutes.

During this ritual encourage your children to release all their worries in writing. Make this activity fun by having a worry box that they can decorate.

Once they are done writing down their worries, they can place them in the box and then say good-bye to the worries for the day.

9. Help Them Work Through a Checklist

A great way to help kids with anxiety is to have a checklist that they can refer to which will give them a step-by-step method to calm down.

Work with them in figuring out what best helps them feel calmer and more at peace.

What do you want them to do when they first feel anxiety coming on? If breathing helps them, then the first step is to pause and breathe. Next, they can assess the situation.

Lastly, you can create a hard copy checklist for your child to refer to when they feel anxious.

10. Be A Good Role Model On How To Handle Anxiety

Helping kids with anxiety can also be done by letting them see how you cope with anxiety

Kids are incredibly perceptive and they model so much of what we do.

It’s not about pretending that you aren’t also facing anxiety and overwhelm, it’s more about what you are doing to manage it (in healthy ways) that matters — lead by example.

Read ‘Being a Role Model For Your Kids: 7 Things Network Marketing Taught Me’ here.

11. Focus On The Breath, Together

When helping kids with anxiety get them to take care of their nervous system by focusing on their breath.

You can count slowly to five as you breathe in, and then five as you breathe out. If this is too much, try starting with shorter counts.

If they feel comfortable with this, gradually encourage your child to breathe out for one or two counts longer than they breathe in, as this can help their whole body relax.

12. Give Them Physical Reassurance

Sometimes the best way to soothe a child is to sit with them and offer calm physical reassurance.

Having you close by, holding your hand or having a cuddle can do wonders for them.

Read ‘How To Find Quality Home Childcare For Your Children’ here.

13. Ask Them To Think Of A Safe And Relaxing Place Or Person In Their Mind

Do this with your child when they are feeling calm. It could be their bedroom, a grandparent’s house, a favourite place in nature etc.

Sometimes it may even help to get them to keep a special memento on them of a relaxing place, like a seashell or pebble, which can trigger a feeling of calmness.

helping kids with anxiety

14. Try Relaxing Activities

When helping kids with anxiety encourage them to try activities that will help them to relax, such as mindfulness, yoga or meditation.

Teenagers might like to use a mindfulness or meditation app such as Headspace or Calm.

It’s important that they find what works for them, you can only make suggestions.

15. Seek Professional Help If Needed

If nothing seems to be working and you’re worried about your child’s mental health then it’s time to seek professional help.

Here’s To Helping Our Kids Thrive During These Times

It’s no surprise that there has been such a rapid decline in mental health since the pandemic hit.

What we have to do now is help support our kids as best we can in order for them to emerge from this time stronger for it.

Make sure you are paying close attention to how your child is doing. If they say “I’m fine” don’t just take that at face value, dig deeper and find out how they are really doing.

We are all doing our best to figure things out, so trust that you are doing the absolute best you can, especially under such crazy circumstances. And remember to make your own mental health a priority!

57 Abundance Affirmations To Call In A Prosperous 2021

Abundance affirmations are a powerful tool for reminding you of how totally and completely worthy you are of receiving all you could possibly desire in your life.

I absolutely love using positive affirmations and this has been something that really helped me when I first started building my Forever business.

One of the biggest hurdles you have to get over is realising that you actually deserve all the success you start to have in network marketing — it took me some time to really allow this truth to land.

Looking back, I had to seriously shift my abundance mindset and let go of that “lack mentality” I had been conditioned with — abundance affirmations definitely contributed to this.

In this article, I look at what affirmations are, how they work, the benefits, how to create them and 57 abundance affirmations to get you feeling your most abundant self!

What Are Affirmations?

abundance affirmations

This word, ‘affirmations’ is derived from the verb ‘affirm’ – to state that something is true.

Affirmations, specifically ones that are positive are used in order to affect the conscious and the subconscious minds so that they can directly influence our behaviour, thinking patterns, habits and environment.

According to Remez Sasson, Success Consciousness: “The words composing the affirmation, automatically and involuntarily, bring up related mental images into the mind, which inspire, energize and motivate. The affirmations, and the resultant mental images, get engraved on the subconscious mind, which in turn, changes the behaviour, habits, actions and reactions according to the repeated words.”

Research has established that around 80% of the 50,000 subconscious thoughts you have in a day are negative ones.

Wow, that’s a lot of negativity!

Affirmations help to combat this and have the power to make you consciously aware of your thoughts. You’ll also find you may have more control over those nasty negative thoughts that creep in!

This is how affirmations affect the subconscious mind.

How Affirmations Work?

So as we have just learned affirmations are positive phrases that when said repeatedly are meant to override any negative beliefs or thought patterns and assist you in inviting incredible things into your life.

Who wouldn’t want this?

However, not all affirmations are created equally and they can do more harm than good if not done correctly.

There has to be some level of belief in what you are saying.

Looking into the mirror and saying “I am rich” repeatedly doesn’t always work.

When creating an affirmation think of the “truth” you want to experience. It must be something that you can actually believe.

So if you write down “I am rich”, but this doesn’t seem believable to you yet, then look at writing it in a less direct way – “I am becoming someone who is rich and wealthy” or “I am learning that it’s safe to be rich and successful”.

These “gradual” affirmations are far more effective than the traditional affirmations you see since they are much easier for the subconscious mind to accept.

You can move on to the more direct affirmation when it feels more believable.

What Are Abundance Affirmations?

abundance affirmations

Abundance Definition:

Abundance refers to a large quantity of something — something you have so much of that it’s overflowing.

You could have an abundance of money. But you could also have an abundance of love, joy, or friends and family.

Abundance is the opposite of lack. It is an outpouring of bounty.

So abundance affirmations usually refer to positive statements that are related to an overflow of wealth, money, prosperity, success.

13 Ways on How to Build Confidence for Network Marketing Success. Read here.

Benefits of Affirmations

  • They define your focus. When you focus your energy on the things you want you are immediately creating an abundance mindset and strengthening your resolve to make it happen.
  • They influence the subconscious mind.
  • They have the potential to change the way you think and behave, which can affect your desired outcomes in life.
  • Positive statements make you feel more positive, energetic and motivated, and therefore, put you in a better position to transform your inner and external worlds.
abundance affirmations
  • They help to increase your awareness of your thoughts. This makes it easier to recognise the negative and self-doubt thought patterns holding you back.
  • They open you up to possibility. Instead of getting stuck in the loop of “it’s impossible”, affirmations flip this on its head. When we begin to positively affirm what is possible, an entire world of possibilities opens up.

How To Write Abundance Affirmations That Work

abundance affirmations

Here are several steps to guide you in forming your abundance affirmation statement.

Step 1: “I am…”

Always begin your affirmation with the words ‘I am’, as this makes it super powerful. Doing this gives your subconscious mind a command. Your mind then interprets it as a directive that it must follow through on.

Step 2: Use Present Tense

Speak as if it’s already done. It helps your mind to imagine the outcome.

Step 3: Affirm What You Do Want

Avoid using negatives in your affirmation. Your subconscious mind does not recognise negatives.

So if you say, ‘don’t close yourself off from making more income’, all your mind hears is ‘close yourself off…’ Instead, say ‘I am open to making more income’.

Step 4: Keep It Short And Sweet

It doesn’t need to be an entire essay!

It’s much easier remembering something that that is short and to the point.

Think ‘It is safe for me to be rich and successful’ over, ‘it is safe for me to have lots of money so that I can be financially free and look after my family’.

Step 5: Be Specific

Being specific makes it easier for your mind to envision the outcome. So instead of saying, ‘I will increase my earnings this year’, say ‘I am enjoying my $200,000 earnings this year’.

Step 6: Must Be Written For You

Your affirmations should be descriptive of your own actions and not those of others.

Step 7: It Must Have Meaning

Make sure your affirmation means something to you, it has to carry emotional weight in order to be effective.

Additional Tips For When Writing Affirmations:

  • They should target a specific area, behaviour or belief that you’re struggling with.
  • Think about the areas of your life you want to change and then write down several areas or behaviours you would like to work on.
  • Make sure they are congruent with your core values and the things that most matter to you, so that you’ll feel genuinely motivated to achieve them.
  • Be sure that your affirmation is credible and achievable.
  • Say it with feeling. Affirmations can be more effective when they carry emotional weight.

Looking after our health is the number one priority (especially in these times) so I thought it would be a good idea to share some nourishing options!

I especially love to add some Forever goodies into the recipes to make them even more healthy and tasty.

I am by no means a health practitioner so if you are watching your calorie intake I would definitely suggest consulting a professional before trying any recipes.

What Are Smoothies?

Simply put, smoothies are thick, creamy beverages usually blended from fruits, vegetables, juices, yoghurt, nuts, seeds, and/or dairy or non-dairy milk.

A basic smoothie will typically start with two key ingredients — a base and a liquid. From there, the world’s your oyster and you can blend ingredients to your liking.

If you want your smoothie to have that icy consistency of a milkshake then freeze your ingredients and include a few ice cubes.

Freezing also helps to keep your produce from going off quickly and if you cut all the ingredients up and measure them out then it cuts your smoothie preparation time substantially (especially if you like to make them before heading out for the day).

Popular ingredients for smoothie health drinks include:

  • Fruits: berries, banana, apple, peach, mango, and pineapple
  • Vegetables: kale, spinach, arugula, wheatgrass, microgreens, avocado, cucumber, beetroot, cauliflower, and carrots
  • Nuts and seeds: almond butter, peanut butter, walnut butter, sunflower seed butter, chia seeds, hemp seeds, and flax meal
  • Herbs and spices: ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, cocoa powder, cacao nibs, parsley, and basil
  • Nutritional and herbal supplements: spirulina, bee pollen, matcha powder, protein powder, and powdered vitamin or mineral supplements
  • Liquid: water, fruit juice, vegetable juice, milk, non-dairy milk, coconut water and cold brew coffee
  • Sweeteners: honey, pitted dates
  • Others: dairy or nondairy yoghurt

Types Of Healthy Smoothie Recipes

Majority of smoothies can be grouped into one or two of the following categories — though there’s often overlap between them:

  • Fruit smoothies. Typically features one or more types of fruit blended with fruit juice (freshly squeezed), water, or milk (dairy/ non-dairy).
  • Green smoothies. Green smoothies include leafy green vegetables and fruit blended with water, juice, or milk. They are usually much heavier in veggies than regular smoothies, although they may include a small amount of fruit to increase the sweetness.
  • Protein smoothies. Protein smoothies commonly start with one fruit or vegetable and a liquid, as well as a major protein source like Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese, silken tofu, or protein powder.

Smoothies are so customisable, so it’s easy to pack them with nutrients!

Potential Smoothie Health Benefits

Many people consume smoothies as a morning meal or afternoon snack. They can be a great way to incorporate more healthy foods into your diet.

May Help Boost Fruit And Vegetable Intake

Smoothies made primarily from fresh or frozen produce may increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables, which provide a diverse array of essential vitamins, minerals, fibre, and antioxidants.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that adults eat at least 5 servings (around 400 grams) of fruits and vegetables per day.

However, most people fall short of this mark.

If you find you’re not eating enough fruits or veggies, a smoothie can be a delicious way to pack in 2–3 more servings.

May Support Increased Fibre Consumption

Fibre is an important nutrient that aids digestion by preventing constipation and supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria in your digestive tract.

With the right ingredients, smoothies can be a brilliant way to boost your fibre intake.

Some of the most fibre-rich foods are also popular smoothie ingredients, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds.

How To Have A Healthy Morning Routine To Beat The Lockdown Blues

A healthy morning routine has been the biggest game changer for me going into yet another lockdown.

Somehow over the last few months all the things that served me tapered off and before I knew it I was feeling like complete rubbish.

There’s a lot that’s out of our control right now, but what is in our control is how we spend our time, which will ultimately affect how we feel.

I’m sure this is not the first time you’re hearing how beneficial this daily ritual can be for you, but the facts are that this is what the majority of successful people have in common.

People who have a consistent morning routine will experience greater levels of happiness and productivity — all of which the world could use presently.

In this article, I look at why having a healthy morning routine can benefit you and how to create one that will support you in feeling phenomenal!

What Is A Healthy Morning Routine?

A morning routine is a set of actions you perform in the morning, usually before your day’s main activity (like going to work), which makes you feel happy, healthy and focused for the day ahead.

healthy morning routine

This usually means waking up earlier than you need to (or want to).

These actions or activities are things you want to do for yourself first thing so they don’t get pushed aside and forgotten when the craziness of your day ensues.

Practising a morning routine is like making a commitment to putting yourself first and getting a personal headstart on the day, every day.

What it consists of will be unique to what serves you and your goals. This is definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach.

As long as the things you do make you feel good and set you up for success (however that may look for you), then whatever your morning ritual looks like will benefit you greatly.

The Benefits of A Healthy Morning Routine

Tim Ferris quote

1. You Control The Day, The Day Doesn’t Control You

Often when we wake up at the very last second to get ready for work etc. it can feel like a manic rush and often this is the energy we take with us into the rest of our day.

Also, not having any time for yourself means that you’re not moving into the day intentionally. It will all just take over and before you know it chews you up and spits you out and then you do it again.

2. Stress Reduction

Doing something for yourself first thing will naturally make you more relaxed and feeling happier.

3. Increased Confidence

When you start the day with a personal focus and complete actions that have meaning to you you are building self-efficacy and this helps to create confidence.

4. Increase In Productivity Levels

As we start each new day, we can better focus on what is in front of us, where to prioritise our time, and, ultimately, increase our productivity.

Productivity is not always about how much we are getting done but can also refer to the level of quality and intention we are giving to tasks.

How to Create Your Healthy Morning Routine

healthy morning routine fact

When creating a morning routine it’s said that approaching it from a more holistic view can be greatly beneficial for your entire being.

This means choosing activities that can nourish you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

It’s important to choose things that you actually want to do, versus those that you feel you “should” do (based on the morning rituals of successful people or celebrities).

If it doesn’t excite you then you’ll lack any motivation to wake up earlier to do it.

Mentally

This has to do with your mind, including thoughts, beliefs, values, goals, hopes, dreams, desires and plans.

Some options include:

Set Goals:

Whether they are long term, short term, easy or difficult, listing your goals will renew your focus and keep you motivated and inspired.

Writing down your three main goals for the day is also a great way to give your day a focused intention.

Maybe write them on a sticky note and paste it somewhere where you can be reminded throughout the day.

Check out my how-to guide on Goal Setting here.

Brain Dump:

Sometimes we can wake up with so much going on in our head, this could be things we need to do, want to accomplish etc.

Best way to combat this is by brain dumping all that information into a list. From there you can organise what you’ll tackle first.

Meditation:

I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you how powerful meditation is and the benefits of a consistent practise.

If you’re looking to feel calmer, present and relaxed throughout your day then I highly suggest you give meditation a go!

Here are some great resources for a guided meditation to get you started.

The free 21-day guided meditations from Deepak Chopra and Oprah Winfrey is also a great place to start.

Read:

Make an effort to read something that feeds your mind. By just allocating ten minutes each day you’ll be surprised at how much you’ll read in a month — this is precious time spent on developing yourself.

Breathe:

A brilliant way to clear your mind is to practise different breathing techniques. Here are some exercises that you can try.

Emotionally

This relates to your feelings, emotions and relationships — all that corresponds to the heart.

Some things you can do to support your emotional well-being include:

Express Gratitude:

New research continues to surface on the science and benefits of gratitude. Benefits range from how it improves relationships, physical and emotional health, sleep, mental stamina, energy and overall happiness.

I love doing this and it’s something I do every morning. Before I get out of bed, I think of at least 5 things I’m grateful for

Hug Your Kid, Spouse Or Pet:

Hugging boosts your oxytocin levels (the love hormone), increases serotonin (elevates mood and creates happiness), strengthens the immune system, boosts self-esteem, lowers blood pressure, balances the nervous system and releases tension.

Basically, hugging makes you feel good

Find someone – or something – to hug. This is the most simple and easy practise to put you into a positive mood for the rest of the day.

hug

Physically

This has to do with our physical vessels, including what we eat and drink and how we move.

Here are some options for increasing your physical health:

Get Moving:

We all know the benefits of exercise. Get your blood flowing!

This might be a run, walk, hike, trip to the gym, yoga, stretching or doing your own home workout.

Clean Your Physical Space:

Often when our physical space is messy and cluttered, our minds feel the same way.

Take the time to clear your space, declutter your room or workspace and make yourself feel more at ease.

Read this article for how to declutter.

Cleanse your body by giving it a bit of a break. Read how I like to do this, here.

Spiritually

This can be anything related to you that gives you a feeling of inspiration —which means, ‘in spirit’.

While this doesn’t specifically convey religion, it might for you.

This is more about feeling connected to something greater – and what makes you feel most connected to yourself.

Here are a few examples:

Meditation:

Although meditation is great for the mind, it will also benefit you spiritually if that’s the kind of connection you are looking for.

meditation

Mirror Work:

This was a method originally developed by inspirational spiritual teacher Louise Hay as a way of getting in touch with the inner self.

The main purpose of mirror work is to cultivate self-love, self-care, and a more meaningful relationship with others.

By looking at your reflection for a short amount of time each day and talking to yourself with kindness and love, you can begin to nurture a more accepting and forgiving connection with yourself.

Be In Nature:

Take a walk somewhere scenic or go for a hike, or maybe even just sit in your garden for a short while.

Spending time outdoors with mother nature will unquestionably feed your soul — I love my daily walks with the kids!

My Healthy Morning Routine

After the last two lockdowns, I realised I had drank a tad too much and my exercise routine had ceased to exist.

So with entering into a new year and another lockdown, I decided my goal was to cultivate new habits. I decided on dry January (no alcohol) and carving out time for me with lots of exercise.

My current goal is 10 000 steps a day, as well as competing with my besties on burning 700 calories a day — we’ve all linked our Apple watches.

I also do my gratitudes when I wake up, then I get kids ready for school then I exercise or if it’s the weekend I exercise first.

At the moment my lockdown exercise routine is running or walking and then four live personal training classes a week.

These sessions are with Gorka — he is a dancer from Strictly Come Dancing — you sign up and get a live YouTube link for the class.

I also do lots of dog walks following footpaths so I can see new parts of the countryside.

The healthy morning routine I follow

Healthy Morning Routine Tips To Get You Started

1. A Healthy Morning Routine Starts The Night Before

It’s absolutely eseential to get quality sleep if you want to start your mornings off in the best possible way.

Make sure you get the recommended 7-9 hours (or whatever works for you). If you want to wake up earlier, you’ll have to get to bed earlier, simple as that really.

2. Don’t Hit Snooze

This will be hard, especially in the beginning as you start to wake up earlier. An extra five minutes seems like it will help right?

But what actually happens is that after you hit snooze, you begin another sleep cycle, which means that those 5 minutes will make you feel completely groggy and more likely to keep hitting snooze until the time you have to get up.

morning routine quote

3. Avoid Your Phone First Thing

Kick it old school and rather use an alarm clock if you can. Or if you do use your phone’s alarm keep it on airplane mode.

It can be rather tempting when we see unread messages waiting, or you may just feel the urge to quickly check your social media — however when you do this you give your power over to external matters and will likely not start the day on your terms.

It takes only a second for a message or an Instagram post to determine your mood.

The best practise is to completely ignore your phone first thing in the morning for at least 30 minutes.

4. Be Generous With The Amount Of Time You Set Aside

There’s nothing worse than feeling rushed in the morning, so make sure you give yourself enough time to wake up, get dressed and complete your routine before your other commitments.

5. Keep It Simple

When looking at how to start a healthy morning routine start small and simple and build up.

It can be easy to get overly excited and want to do EVERYTHING, but this will easily overwhelm you and you’ll find you may give up or beat yourself up for not getting everything done.

I recommend picking one activity from each of the categories mentioned earlier.

This way you can avoid feeling overwhelmed and stressing about something that’s meant to bring you peace and joy.

6. Give It A Go And Be Consistent

Once you’ve settled on the activities you feel will benefit you, give them a go for at least a week or two before you decide on whether or not it works for you.

When cultivating a new habit, it can take at least 21 days to stick, so try your best to keep at your morning routine for this amount of time!

7. Be Flexible

If you’re not enjoying a certain part of your morning routine, then try replacing it with something else that you love.

morning routine quote

Ready To Start Your Day In The Best Way?

I have found that by having a healthy morning routine I am better able to support myself through these uncertain times — something we actually do have control over!

All we can do is keep looking forward and trust that we’ll come out the other side of this soon enough!

9 Qualities You Should Look For in a Network Marketing Coach

Enlisting the help of the right kind of sponsor to be your network marketing coach may be the best decision you’ll make for growing your business in 2021.

After all, the fastest way to the top is learning from someone who has not only ‘walked the walk’ — but is still crushing it to this day!

With that, let’s take a closer look at what a network marketing coach is and the 9 qualities you should be on the lookout for when considering working with a network marketing professional to be your sponsor.

What is A Network Marketing Coach?

Network marketing coaching, like business coaching, is certainly not a new concept but having a mentor is often recognized as one of the pivotal reasons for success by many top business leaders in our world today.

A network marketing coach is someone in the industry/your preferred network marketing company who can help sponsor you and identify exactly what the sticking points are in your business and provide you with a roadmap for success.

This person has already paid the proverbial price for the experience they’ve gained the hard way and are in a position to put you in the fast lane so you can capitalize on the growing opportunities in the space and, most importantly, help you avoid making the same mistakes that they did!

This can go a long (LONG) way to helping you save time — which is really what we all exchange for money — the effort and headache of trying to make it on your own and introducing you to the mindset needed to succeed.

Personally, when it came to getting into the right mindset to be the best network marketer I could be, I enlisted the help of Dave O’Connor, a top mindset coach, who helped me significantly along my journey to #1 in the UK.

Special mention must undoubtedly go to my special mum who got me into network marketing — she just celebrated 25 years working with the company and is still going strong!

My mum has also been a network marketing coach to me

Getting “the right coach” to sponsor you and hold your hand along the way is certainly one of the best investments that you can make in yourself and in your business, but, not all coaches are made equal…

I believe there are 9 qualities that you should identify in a mentor before establishing a relationship with just anyone selling their services online:

1. A Winning Attitude

This is undeniably one of the most important qualities to look out for! You can intuitively feel this type of energy when you meet people that have just got it.

Think back to all of the great teachers/friends/role models that you’ve had in your life that have supported you with gusto, and shared their wisdom to inspire you to see more in yourself than what you give yourself credit for.

Odds are that every single person that has made an impact in your life adopted a winning attitude towards everything that they do.

We are all shaped by our experience (see #2 below) and a winning attitude is tempered as much by our setbacks as it is by making it out to the other side.

A great coach has seen it all and understands that to get the best out of anyone they need to help them develop a mindset that counts their blessings, controls what they can control, but always focuses on the bigger picture.

Read “23 Reasons Why Network Marketing is The Biz To Be In Right Now!”

2. The Right Kind of Experience

There are so many self-appointed gurus with outlandish marketing ploys and claims to be found on the internet in this day and age…

Just because someone says something online doesn’t mean that it is necessarily the truth.

It’s imperative that you do your homework when evaluating the right kind of person to sponsor you:

  1. Ask for detailed client testimonials
  2. Reach out to people that have worked with them and ask them about their results
  3. Read the content they’re sharing on their social platforms
  4. Speak to them personally and get a feel for what kind of person they are
  5. Google them online and see what you can unearth

With all this groundwork done, you should have a pretty clear picture of whether or not this person has the experience you’re looking for.

3. The Tools To Help You Succeed

This certainly does tie in with having the right experience to help you avoid the same mistakes they made on their own journey, but talk is cheap without the right tools to make stuff happen.

Network marketing has come a long way from door-to-door sales.

To succeed in network marketing in the 21st century you need to adopt a modern approach to the game and work with the right company.

Most network marketing companies have a specific way of doing things, so it’s important to ask your potential coach about their company, the tools they use to generate leads and what makes them different from other players in the space.

Take a look at their own marketing online and determine if it resonates with you — are they practising what they preach?

Another good litmus test is to check how often they’re producing fresh content and that they should be extremely active online.

Read “16 Tips on How To Stay Motivated During Lockdown”

4. A Network You Can Leverage

We are all the sum total of our network in this game (and life, really) — after all, “it’s not about what you know, but about who you know.”

A great coach has most likely built a thriving business with the help of talented, hard-working individuals that bring another dynamic to your journey, and one that you can leverage for all sorts of things:

  1. Making new friends (I’ve made some lifelong friends with my business)
  2. Fresh perspective being exposed to like-minded people from all walks of life
  3. A solid support structure that you can count on
  4. Get to know people in an array of different professions (it’s always nice getting advice from someone in the know)
  5. Access to tried and tested methods/knowledge from people that want you to succeed

Knowing a lot of people and getting to know more can be one’s biggest asset in this industry as it’s such a sociable profession.

Natalie Heeley & Forever Living Products

5. Flexibility and Accessibility

One of the greatest advantages of working in network marketing in these times is the flexibility it provides, and the same should be true for your coach.

Your potential coach should be in a position to give you the time of day and set scheduled time aside to work with you.

Discuss how much time they’re able to give you, how and when you’ll be able to reach out to them and what level of support you can expect from them.

It’s important to have all of this defined upfront so that you can rest assured that they will be available to help you grow at your speed!

6. A Willingness To Share

This goes without saying, but any coach that is reluctant to impart their experiences with you (both good and bad) is probably not a good fit if you value complete transparency.

Nothing/no one is perfect in this life and having someone who is open enough to share so that you don’t have to make the same mistakes is what great coaches are made of.

You’ll know you’re dealing with the right person by how they communicate (see #7 below) their experiences to you, and most importantly, how they’re able to help you deal with situations from a practical standpoint.

Anyone that has truly earned their network marketing chops would only be too glad to walk you through the ins and outs of the business.

7. Great Communication and Listening Skills

Network marketing has taught me so much about being a good communicator, but even more so, about being a better listener.

From a communication standpoint, they need to be able to clearly communicate their methodology/strategy with you and give you confidence in their system:

  • Are they well-spoken?
  • Does what they’re saying make sense to you?
  • Do they answer your questions thoroughly?

From a listening standpoint, they need to be able to give you an opportunity to express yourself, to feel heard and even be a shoulder to cry on sometimes — we’re all only human, right?

Having both of these skills and sharpening them with your own interactions are incredibly useful for your network marketing business, so it’s only right that your coach should also have them!

8. Confidence

In the world of network marketing, there are plenty of personalities that talk a big game to anyone that is willing to listen.

That being said, there is a big difference between overconfidence and assured confidence.

I’ve always maintained that the proof is in the vertitable pudding when it comes to results and that those, ultimately, will speak for themselves.

Finding someone that has an unwavering belief in their planning and system (and can back it up with results) is what I would define as assured confidence.

A great coach will not leave you with empty promises, but with a solid roadmap that instills confidence in them and the people they work with.

9. Challenges You and Holds You Accountable

For the coaching process to really work and come full circle, you need to have someone that is going to challenge you in ways that are conducive to your professional growth — and if you’re lucky enough, impact you on a personal level.

They are going to be there to share in your successes, support you when things get tough, and hold you accountable to go after your goals no matter what!

This is probably one of the most difficult qualities to discern from the outset, but I think that if your potential coach ticks the other 8 boxes above, you should expect that they’re going to go all-in with you and be excited to have you be a part of their team.

My Content Roundup Review For 2020

One of my big focuses for this year was to create content of value to my audience and from the promising stats I’ve seen off my Google analytics, of value it most certainly is.

When owning a network marketing business, it can be very easy to feel like you’re always the one asking something of others — whether it’s to join your business or buy your product etc.

Often people can find it hard to understand why this opportunity is so incredible.

So by creating useful content I’m giving people valuable information that they can benefit from regardless of whether they join my business or not.

In giving we receive.

I received more visitors to my site through doing this than ever before and received many compliments from those that are already network marketing professionals and Forever Business Owners (FBOs) about how much they’ve enjoyed the content I’ve been sharing.

So to pay tribute to a year of successful content, this article is a content roundup centred around my most popular blog articles and offers for 2020, as well as some insightful stats that have come from it.

The Proof Is In The Content

The above graph depicts how my content has helped increase the number of page views on my website over the last 9 months.

This clearly indicates the power of having valuable content on your website.

The image above illustrates how majority of the users to my website are new, which means that my content is being found organically outside of my usual network that I market to.

It also shows that my average bounce rate for the year on my site is well below 70% which is truly brilliant!

This simply means that people aren’t just landing on one page and then leaving, they’re spending more time looking at other pages too.

The above image displays the top 10 pages on my website that are bringing in the most page views.

By looking at this I’m able to see what the most popular content has been and what I can create more of in the future.

Network Marketing Is Booming

This image of new versus returning visitor clearly depicts how much new interest there is in the industry!

People are realising more and more (especially in the year of a pandemic) that you have to have other options, even if they seem to be a less conventional way of doing things.

I am so grateful to say that my Forever business did incredibly well during a time when many other traditional businesses weren’t.

This wasn’t because I’m special, it was merely because I happen to own a business that is product-based. Products are something that people are not going to stop consuming, whether it’s a pandemic or not.

When joining a reputable network marketing company, you really will have so little to lose and so much to gain!

content roundup

From the above image, we can see just how much my global audience is growing which also tells you how the global appeal for network marketing is continually expanding.

33 Self-Development Quotes To Inspire A Magnificent 2021

Self-development quotes are a simple tool you can utilise to sprinkle some inspiration into your day and keep you motivated along the path of personal growth.

Not all days are rainbows and butterflies and sometimes sage bits of wisdom from those we admire are just what we need to hear to remind us of the bigger picture.

Life is so much more than just surviving, we are here to expand, grow and experience love in a multitude of ways — all of which deepens when you make an effort to be a better person than you were the day before.

This article will focus on words of pure inspiration so that you can head into 2021 knowing how important doing the inner work is and that true success lies in the person you’ve become when you get there.

What Is Self-Development?

Self-development is the process of consciously improving one’s self in varying areas of your life.

It’s about taking intentional steps towards personal growth by improving your personal skills, competencies, talents and knowledge.

The key element to self-development is the inner growth and self-inquiry of oneself that takes place in order to seek fulfilment and proactively reach your fullest potential.

Why Is Self-Development Important?

What would be the point of the human experience if we were to forever stay the same?

Just like we should never stop learning, the same should apply for self-development and improvement.

When you become intentional about personal growth, you give yourself space to continuously become a better version of yourself and this in effect transforms every area of your life.

Here are 12 reasons why self-development is important no matter what your age is:

  1. Increases self-awareness
  2. Enhances strengths
  3. Overcomes weaknesses
  4. Step out of your comfort zone
  5. Improves mental health
  6. Heals relationships
  7. Inspires motivation
  8. Improves your ability to make decisions
  9. Gives you a sense of purpose
  10. Gives you clarity and focus
  11. Instils an attitude of learning
  12. Cultivates self-love

33 Of My Top Self Development Quotes

1. “Be The Change You Want To See In The World.” – Gandhi

This quote rings so true, especially with everything that’s been happening this year.

It can be so easy to get caught up in all the negativity, so it’s important to create your own light in times of darkness.

Whatever you want to experience more of in the world, become that.

There’s a lot we don’t have control over, but what we can control is how we show up in our own lives — and this, in turn, ripples outward.

gandhi self development quote

2. “What holds most people back isn’t the quality of their ideas, but their lack of faith in themselves. You have to live your life as if you are already where you want to be.” – Russell Simmons

I’ve seen this time and time again with those building a network marketing business. You can want to do it, but until you actually believe you can do it, you will keep holding yourself back.

This is why self-development is such an important part of being an entrepreneur.

Russell Simmons self development quotes

3. “You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight. If you want to reach your goals and fulfil your potential, become intentional about your personal growth. It will change your life.” – Jim Rohn

Jim Rohn quote

Already thinking up some New Year’s resolutions? Read my article ‘Why “New Year, New Me” Shouldn’t Be Your Plans For Change in 2021’ here.

4. “To grow yourself, start from knowing yourself.” – Anonymous

Self-awareness is essential to living a happy and fulfilled life.

Expanding your knowledge is one of the powerful things you can do for yourself — if you’re not growing and developing as a person then you’re not really moving forward in life, which means you must be moving backwards — who wants that?

Anonymous self development quotes

5.  “Set a goal so big that you can’t achieve it until you grow into the person who can.” – Zig Ziglar

Zig Ziglar quote

Learn how to set goals like a true boss babe and achieve all you desire in 2021 by reading my article ‘Goal Setting How To: A Guide For Mums Who Want Massive Success’ here.

6. “The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday.” – Anonymous

The age-old tale of comparison — this is something us humans have not quite learnt how to not do.

So, when the comparison bite strikes, remind yourself that we have no idea what someone else’s circumstances are.

It may look pretty on the outside, but you’ll never know what someone else is actually experiencing.

Focus. On. You.

That’s all that matters.

Anonymous self development quotes

7. “Every moment of one’s existence, one is growing into more or retreating into less.” – Norman Mailer

Norman Mailer self development quotes

8. “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ralph Waldo Emerson quote

9. “Growth is the great separator between those who succeed and those who do not. When I see a person beginning to separate themselves from the pack, it’s almost always due to personal growth.” – John C. Maxwell

John C. Maxwell quote

10. “Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” – Buddha

Buddha quote

11. “You Are Never Too Old To Set Another Goal Or To Dream A New Dream.” – Les Brown

Every day when we wake up, we have a choice and can choose exactly who we want to be that day.

Decide who you desire to be and then become it and choose that version of yourself over and over, before you know it that’s who you’ll be.

Les Brown self development quotes

12. “The Best Investment You Can Make Is In Yourself.” – Warren Buffet

When most people think of investments, they think of financial investments. They are so concerned with making more money that bettering their bank account is worth more than themselves.

Put some time and energy into becoming a better you by investing in yourself.

You’ll quickly see an ROI that will benefit your entire life (usually including your bank account too).

Warren Buffet quote

13. “Personal Development Is A Major Time-Saver. The Better You Become, The Less Time It Takes You To Achieve Your Goals.” – Brian Tracy

Brian Tracy quote

14. “You Are Essentially Who You Create Yourself To Be, And All That Occurs In Your Life Is The Result Of Your Own Making.” – Stephen Richards

stehen richards quote

15. “Setting Goals Is The First Step In Turning The Invisible Into The Visible.” – Tony Robbins

Many people have these grand ideas of what they want to do in life, yet they have no plan on how to get there.

Setting clear short term and long term goals has been a massive catalyst in helping me achieve all I have done in my life so far.

You have to have a roadmap to show you the way, otherwise, you are leading yourself blindly and that doesn’t usually get you what you want.

Tony Robbins self development quotes

16. “If You Are The Kind Of Person Who Is Waiting For The ‘Right’ Thing To Happen, You Might Wait For A Long Time. It’s Like Waiting For All The Traffic Lights To Be Green For Five Miles Before Starting The Trip.” – Robert Kiyosaki

Stop waiting for the right time. This time is right now.

Robert Kiyosaki quote

17. “With Integrity, You Have Nothing To Fear, Since You Have Nothing To Hide. With Integrity, You Will Do The Right Thing, So You Will Have No Guilt.” – Zig Ziglar

Zig Ziglar quote

18. “We Are What We Frequently Do.” – Aristotle

Aristotle quote

19. “Don’t take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.” – Don Miguel Ruiz

This is a big one, especially when you’re building your own business. A lot of the time friends and family will weigh in with their opinion.

You have to hold steadfast in your WHY so that you’re not swayed by the opinions of others.

This takes practice, but once you get it, you’ll feel so liberated.

Don Miguel Ruiz self development quotes

Gratitude is one of the best self development tools you can utilise! Read my article on ‘How to Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude: For Mums Who Want To Feel Good’ here.

20. “We all have something that we are meant to do. Your genius will shine through, and happiness will fill your life, the instant you discover your higher purpose you will then direct all your energies towards it.” – Robin Sharma

Robin Sharma self development quotes

21. “Do, Or Do Not. There Is No Try.” – Yoda

Eliminate “try” from your vocabulary and stop straddling the line. “Just do it” as Nike says.

23. “To Effectively Communicate, We Must Realize That We Are All Different In The Way We Perceive The World And Use This Understanding As A Guide To Our Communication With Others.” – Tony Robbins

Tony Robbins quote

24. “We see men who have accumulated great fortunes, but we often recognize only their triumph, overlooking the temporary defeats which they had to surmount before “arriving.” – Napoleon Hill

People will often look at my success now and think I’ve had it easy, but the truth is that I also had to start from the bottom

My success is so much sweeter now because of how hard I’ve worked and how much time and energy I’ve put in to be where I am. Remember there’s no shortcut to success.

Napoleon Hill quote

25. “Of course motivation is not permanent. But then, neither is bathing; but it is something you should do on a regular basis.” – Zig Ziglar

27. “Change equals self-improvement. Push yourself to places you haven’t been before.” – Pat Summitt

Learn to step out of your comfort zone. Do this often. Change is one of the greatest proponents of personal growth.

Pat Summitt self development quote

28. “Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.” – Les Brown

Les Brown self development quotes

29. “People tend to think that happiness is a stroke of luck, something that will descend like fine weather if you’re fortunate. But happiness is the result of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly.” – Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth Gilbert quote

30. “The true measure of a man is not how he behaves in moments of comfort and convenience but how he stands at times of controversy and challenges.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

The challenges you face in life don’t have to define you but they will change you, it’s up to you if it’s for the better or for the worse.

Our challenges are some of our most potent self-development tools, if we allow them to teach us they can crack our potential wide open.

Martin Luther King Jr. quote

25 Fun Christmas Activities For Families Ready To Bond This Holiday Season

Get into the holiday spirit with these fun Christmas activities for families who want to spend some good ol’ fashioned quality time together.

As much as I want to wave goodbye to 2020 as desperately as the next person, the holiday season is a time to really practise being present.

Besides the pandemic, this year has had me focused on some big work goals and the holiday season reminds me of how important it is to slow down and reflect on all I’ve achieved — this is especially important when you own your own business as it can be easy to just never switch off.

Taking the time to bond with your family doing festive activities is a great way to bring some normalcy back into your life before closing off the year.

In this article, we are leaving personal development and network marketing strategy at the door and purely focusing on festive activities you can do with the whole family — because it’s time to take a break and have some fun!

1. Make Your Own Garland

Christmas Garland

Step outside the box this holiday season and get creative with your Christmas garlands. I like to sometimes shift away from the typical faux pine and greenery and try some other homemade types — popcorn, dried fruit or even marshmallows!

Try upcycling some leftover popcorn after a movie night!

All you need is a needle and some thread or fishing line. Try using fresh cranberries, too.

Younger kids can count out the berries or popcorn to make a fun alternating pattern, and parents or older kids can do the threading.

This activity is so much fun, especially for smaller kids, you can then spend time using what you’ve created to decorate inside the house.

2. Try a Non-Tree Tree

Looking to go against the status quo this holiday season?

Broaden your “tree-rizon” by creating a tree shape our of items you currently have or arrange holiday photos and cards in a tree shape on a blank wall.

Have a look at some alternative tree ideas here.

3. Hold A (Socially Distant!) Neighbourhood Cookie Swap

cookie christmas activities for families

Now is the time to show off those cookie decorating skills and host a cookie swap with your neighbours or friends.

Share recipes and ideas and taste the yummy batches of cookies everyone has baked to perfection.

There is nothing more fun than getting creative in the kitchen, especially when it results in something sweet to eat!

4. Play Secret Santa

secret santa christmas activities for families

One of my favourite Christmas activities for families is doing Secret Santa!

This is such a fun thing to do as a lead up to Christmas or even on the day.

It’s a great way to gift give without breaking the bank (which is much needed during a pandemic).

You can set a spending limit so that you can find cheap (but fun) Christmas gifts or DIY Christmas gifts that are thoughtful and tailored to the person whose name you picked.

What is your favourite family Christmas activity? Please let me know in the comments below!

5. Create (Or Buy!) An Advent Calendar

Advent calendar Christmas Activities For Families

Advent calendars are such a great way to count down until Christmas. Whether you’ve purchased one or not yet, crafting one is so much fun!

The idea pictured here is so simple and easy to recreate: Get some small paper bags, label them with a number and fill them with trinkets or chocolates, even a message of love could work so beautifully.

Here are some more advent calendar ideas to choose from.

Whether it’s the cashier at your local Tesco or Waitrose, they’re sure to be undoubtedly suprised and elated with a delivery of Christmas treats.

There’s nothing quite like making someone’s day, especially when they least expect it.

9. Volunteer

Volunteering Christmas Activities For Families

Because giving back to your community is the greatest way to celebrate the holidays. Do some research on where you could contribute your time as a family.

Helping to serve food at a local homeless shelter is a beautiful way to give your time or maybe helping with packing for a Christmas box drive for orphaned children.

Have a discussion as a family and ask your kids to give suggestions on what might be close to their heart to contribute towards to.

10. Go See The Neighbourhood Christmas Lights And Decorations

Christmas Lights And Decorations

This is one of my favourite family Christmas activities! Everyone piles in the car, and you all go on a nighttime tour of your town to check out the beautiful festive holiday lights and decorations.

I love looking at how elaborate and detailed some of the lights and decorations are — makes you feel like you’ve entered a different world!

11. Wreath-Making

Wreath-making Christmas activites

Who doesn’t love a festive wreath?!

This is a great DIY Christmas decoration activity.

Take the kids outside for a quick winter walk to gather tree branches, pine cones and anything else they like, or trim some from the bottom of your Christmas tree or get some at the store.

Attach your greens to a foam or wire ring (a bent metal coat hanger works well) and allow the kids to decorate it with Christmas ornaments and bows.

Or make this preschooler-friendly paper wreath featuring tracings of your child’s cute little hands.

12. Christmas Movies

Christmas movies

A classic Christmas movie marathon is a must-do! We love to make up a Christmas bed in the TV room so we can get all nice and cosy.

Get everyone to write down their favourite holiday movie, put it in a hat and then pull out one to see which one you watch first.

Cuddle up under blankets with a warm cup of hot chocolate and some popcorn to make it even better!

13. Bake Christmas Cookies

baking cookies christmas activities for families

Peanut-butter blossoms! Snickerdoodles! Shortbread! Gingerbread men! The list of melt-in-your-mouth cookies is endless! Here are some family favourites.

Children of all ages can get involved in the kitchen on “baking day.” Get the younger kids to add pre-measured ingredients, stir the bowl and decorate cooled cookies, while the older kids help.

What’s also fun is to have a cookie “bake-off,” get some friend’s involved too and have a ball!

14. Build A Gingerbread House

gingerbread house christmas activities for families

This is one of the most classic christmas activities for families to do. Get everyone together with some gingerbread walls and roofs and all the candy and frosting you can get your hands on.

Set everyone up with their own house, or work in teams to see who can make the most festive looking gingerbread house.

Part of the fun (and challenge) is keeping your house from falling apart!

Follow these instructions for an easy gingerbread house.

15. Homemade Christmas Ornaments

christmas activities for families

Make decorating the Christmas tree even more special each year by starting a new holiday tradition — by adding a new kid-made Christmas ornament.

Mark the year on each ornament so that you can keep track of when each one was made!

What I love about this Christmas activity is that it can become a family tradition that tracks your child’s growth and creativity each year.

16. Give An Unexpected Gift As A Family Christmas Activity

give an unexpected gift christmas activities for families

The sad reality is that there are many people who feel terribly alone, especially during the festive season.

Ask a local nursing home or senior centre if any of their residents need a little pick-me-up, and drop off a small gift or some baked treats to show that someone’s thinking of them.

Dropping them personally would be even better, so find out if it’s possible to visit and observe all social distancing precautions.

17. Make A Christmas Playlist

christmas activities for families

Nothing like some classic Christmas jams to put everyone in the holiday spirit!

Get the whole family to contribute with their favourite Christmas songs and make an ace playlist!

Here are 40 Modern Christmas Songs You Need on Your Holiday Playlist.

18. Go On A Christmas Scavenger Hunt

christmas scavenger hunt

Divide the family into teams and ask them to find a range of Christmas-related items or take pictures doing a festive task.

Think along the lines of making a snow angel or singing a Christmas carol to the neighbours.

19. Play Christmas Freeze Dance

Christmas freeze dance activity

This is one of my top Christmas activities for families!

Instead of vegging out in front of the telly after a big meal, get into the festive spirit of things with a game of holiday freeze dance.

Turn on that playlist you made earlier and choose one of you to pause it at random.

Whoever’s still dancing after the music stops is out.

20. Take A Holiday Card Photo

holiday card

Let’s be honest, we all love a good family holiday card photo. Have fun with this and dress up in your most festive wear or don’t be so serious and take one with silly faces.

I also love taking one when we’re on holiday somewhere special.

Just don’t take yourself too seriously with this one, it’s meant to be fun!

It’s brilliant getting to look back on previous images every year.

21. Plan A Family Photoshoot For A Memorable Christmas Activity

family photoshoot

We all know I love photoshoots, especially when it includes the whole family!

Find a photographer to help with this or if you’re watching your budget look for a student photographer who may be looking to get some more practise.

The best shots are usually the ones that are more natural, so get the family to relax and just let go.

22. Create Snowglobes From Mason Jars

snowglobes

Looking for Christmas activities for families that are both fun and practical?

Making snowglobes is just the thing!

They make stunning seasonal gifts from kids, and not to mention they are so much fun to make.

Help your kids build the the best winter snowglobe with theses instructions.

23. Have An Ugly Jumper Party

Ugly Sweater Party

We all have at least one or two ugly Christmas jumpers stuffed at the back of our cupboards. Now is the time to bring them out and have some fun.

Ugly jumper parties are a great way to get silly during the holidays. Invite your loved ones over and hold a competition for the most creative, funny, or elaborate outfits.

Pair this with the Christmas freeze dance activity and it’s bound to be a bloody good night!

24. Make Decorations Out Of Old Christmas Cards

christmas card activity

Recycle old holiday cards and turn them into the sweetest Christmas card craft decorations.

Take a look here on how to recycle greeting cards to learn how to transform them into a festive Christmas tree decoration.

25. Make Festive Homemade Pizzas

Homemade pizzas are delicious and so much fun for everyone to get involved and make together.

Staying within the Christmas theme and all try making festive homemade pizzas for a change!

The kids will have a proper blast creating these fun and yummy designs:

‘Tis The Season To Be Jolly!

After the seriousness of this year, it’s about time we put work to one side, take a well deserved break and have some festive fun with the family.

I hope these 25 fun christmas activities for families has sparked some inspiration for your household! I know it has for mine.

Why “New Year, New Me” Shouldn’t Be Your Plans For Change in 2021

The concept of “new year, new me” is somewhat of an alluring fad that has been taken on by the trending masses thanks to its propagation on social media over the past few years.

Whilst New Year’s resolutions are not a “new” thing, there is definitely something inviting about forgetting/forgiving oneself of past transgressions, hitting the reset button and starting the new year on a clean slate.

After all, we’re only human and it feels so much better letting go of the guilt for things we didn’t achieve or stick to in the past year.

But, after 2020, I’m beginning to see things a little differently…

In this article, I want to share my thoughts on 2020 and what it has taught me, why I think the idea of “new year, new me” is outdated and how we should go about bringing in longer-lasting, more meaningful change into our lives in 2021.

The Year That Was 2020

They say that “hindsight is 2020” and boy has the year of our lord 2020 shown/forced the world to reflect on the life choices we make.

When the pandemic constricted the world in its stranglehold back in March, none of us would have expected that our very lives and all our day to day social interactions would be robbed from us without as much as a warning shot.

Covid-19 pandemic

With what now feels like the second that it takes one to take in a breath, we were banished to our homes (for those of us blessed enough to even have them), millions out of jobs and a “new normal” for us to get our heads around as our world suddenly became a whole lot smaller.

In order to fight this invisible enemy, we all had to (and continue to in some places) go against the very nature of what makes life so special and adjust how we go about living, how we work/secure our financial futures and ultimately, look inside to discover what is most important to us.

I mean, for once, all we had was time…

What 2020 Has Taught Me

This was a year that I’m sure many of us would like to put (rather firmly) in the past as the countdown to 2021 draws nearer, but I’m definitely in the camp of those who will want to use it as a stark reminder of why waiting for the new year to make positive changes is simply too late.

20 things that 2020 has taught me:

  1. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is a given.
  2. Life is just too short and time waits for no one so we need to live each day to its fullest.
  3. Every day is an opportunity to make a significant difference in your life and a difference in those you choose to give your time to.
  4. The harder (smarter) you work, the luckier you get.
  5. Appreciate every single thing that we have in this life, especially the little things that we all take for granted.
  6. The importance of relationships and connecting more deeply with loved ones.
  7. What true friendship looks like and that you should always check-in with your special people.
  8. Do something active every day, your health is the ultimate wealth.
  9. Use challenges in life as a way to grow spiritually and mentally.
  10. Fear is the absence of knowledge.
  11. The value of seeing a smile (literally) or making someone smile.
  12. We are all in this together and part of the human family no matter where we come from, how much we have or what we believe in.
  13. Never give up on yourself or on others.
  14. Be adaptive, be flexible and create a life that affords you greater freedom
  15. Find enjoyment in every single moment of the “journey” — I will never utter the words “are we there yet?” ever again!
  16. Be kind. You have absolutely no idea what someone is going through and your kindness might be the 1 thing that makes their day.
  17. Don’t miss an opportunity to tell your family and friends that you love them.
  18. The value of a kiss and a warm embrace.
  19. Patience is most certainly a virtue worth waiting for.
  20. The immense importance of the selflessness and sacrifice of those that put their lives at risk to protect the greater good.

What has 2020 taught you? Please let me know in the comments below!

It’s Time To Ditch “New Year, New Me” & Do This Instead!

There is no better time than right now.

If 2020 has taught us anything it’s that there is so much in this world that we don’t have control over, but that we have the power to control how we spend our time.

When it comes to making long-lasting, meaningful changes in our lives every day, it’s a lot easier said than done.
But, there are a few key points that I want to share that will help you stick to achieving your goals long after the euphoria/bravado of ringing in a new year fades away.

Failing To Plan is Planning To Fail

How is it possible to achieve anything in this life without a solid plan to follow?

Often, resolutions are these massive ideas to make £10,000/m or lose a few stone that are backed up with a head full of bubbly and the excitement of starting over again on a fresh canvas.

Facts are that most people fail to follow through because they don’t have a map to plot the course forward.

How To Create a Dream Book book

When you are able to break down bigger targets into more bite-sized ones with an actionable strategy of just how you’re going to go about reaching each milestone, it makes things a whole lot easier.

Write down daily/weekly/monthly goals and back it up with an action plan that is measurable and keeps you going with the small wins necessary to see you through to the bigger prize.

In order for this to work, however, it is something that you’ll need to be tracking and keeping tabs on every single day, which is the precursor to…

Making it A Habit

Every single little thing that we gravitate towards in this life is the direct result of a habit.

Forming good habits is all about taking a positive step each and every day in the right direction — it can take anywhere from 18 to 254 days for a person to form a new habit.

Nothing in life comes easy and you are doing yourself a massive disservice by thinking that it’ll be easier next year (this is a mindset habit that needs adjusting like yesterday!)

Want to manage your weight? Start today!

Looking to get fit and healthy? Start today!

Thinking of a side hustle to earn more? Start today!

We are creatures of habit and when we substitute the bad with the good we can almost immediately start feeling better about the change we’re making.

But, simply planning, doing and hoping that we’ll stick with it is not enough to see the majority of us through.

For this, you also need to…

Make Your Reason To Succeed Bigger Than Your Excuse Not To

This is a personal motto that has helped me immensely throughout the years whenever I felt like throwing in the towel.

It requires a certain level of introspection to unearth what you’re fighting for and a realistic — or perhaps even a brutally honest — look at what the consequences of you not succeeding will mean and writing it all down.

For instance, not getting in shape or taking your health seriously might mean that you will die young, or won’t be able to support and look after your kids, or will place a heavy burden on your spouse.

It’s definitely not a feel-good exercise, but that’s the whole point.

The objective in writing down and visualizing the consequences is not to scare you, but to galvanize you into immediate action and to serve as a stern reminder of what making excuses might cost you.

With this, you will have a strong enough reason/s to not fail, but we all have our off days when it’s easier to forget and that’s when you’ll need to…

Get Support From an Accountability Partner

2020 was one of the most challenging years to date, but I can safely say that I was able to “get by with a little help from my friends.”

There is no denying the power of establishing support structures to help keep you on the straight and narrow.

This may come in the form of an accountability group, going to regular meetings, enlisting the help of a coach or simply a good friend/family member who will keep you to task — basically someone who will see through your sh!t;)

Ask your family or friends to become your accountability partner

It’s one thing to let yourself down and another entirely when you disappoint those closest to you because you don’t stick to your word.

There are also a bunch of cool apps to keep you motivated for that extra boost when you’re by yourself.

Get Going After The Life of Your Dreams Today!

If you follow these steps you’ll be well on your way to making a positive impact in your life without losing the drive we often do when things inevitably start piling up.

Procrastination is the ultimate enemy of success.

2020 has shown us that we can simply not wait for the perfect time, the perfect situation or the most optimal circumstances to change the course of our lives for the better.

Whatever success looks like to you, everything can change in the blink of an eye, so please start today!

Nothing comes from nothing.

Success is an accumulation of countless hours, blood, sweat and tears that we owe to ourselves to sacrifice and live a life without regrets.

I sincerely hope that you enjoyed this article as much as I did writing it — it has been a cathartic experience, to say the least — and it’s my greatest wish for you to use this as a springboard to get going after everything you want to live your best life right now!
