16 Ways To Re-Establish A Back To School Routine

The holidays are over and this is the perfect time to establish a back to school routine.

Back-to-school time provides a great opportunity for parents and children alike to build good habits, routines, and a checklist of tasks.

As much as I love the school holidays and getting to spend extra time with my kids, it can often feel like a slog getting back into the groove of things.

I am not one for a crazy morning rush, with a mad dash from morning wake-up to leaving for school.

This just doesn’t do it for me.

I like a streamlined schedule and routine as this makes life easier for the entire household.

This article will provide tips on how to get your child (and yourself) back in the swing of things so they can have a successful start this term and the ones to come.

Back To School Routine

Back-to-School Routine Tips

1.  Start The Night Before

As the age-old Benjamin Franklin saying goes, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”

Get ahead of the morning routine by planning ahead (this is key!) This is the best approach to defusing morning mayhem.

Before bedtime, have your child take a bath or shower and ask them to pick out an outfit or layout their school uniform for the next day (this is a good way to give the younger ones some autonomy).

Take some time to go over the next day’s schedule together. Check that bags are packed with all the necessary items, such as books, homework, and changes of clothing. Have everything ready to go near the door.

It’s also important that kids get a good night’s rest so that they can be focused and productive the next day.

A nighttime routine is just as helpful. You could try engaging in a relaxing activity, such as listening to calming music before bed, which can help with winding the day down and eventual slumber.

The less your children have to battle with first thing in the morning, the smoother the transition will be.

A good time to make lunches and snacks is once the kids are in bed. Set the table for breakfast if you usually have breakfast as a family, otherwise have everything ready to go first thing.

I also like to decide on what my outfit will be the night before and if I’m heading out after I drop the kids at school I will pre-pack what I may need.

2. Take Some Time For Yourself

The best thing you can do to start your day is wake up before your kids do. Taking this “me time” is crucial and really sets the tone for the rest of my day.

It helps me show up fully for my family!

This time may look different for everyone. I personally like to create a bit of a morning routine for myself that helps me feel calmer and more motivated for the day ahead.

Read ‘How To Have A Healthy Morning Routine’ here.

3. Make Wake-ups More Pleasant

Early mornings can often jolt you out of dreamland into a harsh beat of reality with an alarm.

To make this less of a rude awakening I suggest finding alternative ways you can get your kids up and going.

Maybe set their favourite song as their alarm tone (great for teens) or try waking them up with cuddles and kisses (great for the little ones).

A more enjoyable wake-up doesn’t mean it has to take longer—it just needs to be gentler.

4. Follow A Routine

Help your kids (as well as yourself) follow a daily routine. Posting a detailed routine for the morning can also keep the family on track.

Creating this predictability forms structure and stability for everyone.

Create a schedule that can be followed before and after school. It can look something like this: Wake up, wash face, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, look over the day’s schedule, pack lunch and leave for school.

Having a point-by-point task list should include all the things your kid needs to accomplish before heading out the door.

A back to school routine checklist is especially important for that first week back.

Picture schedules work wonders for the little ones or those that aren’t so good at reading yet.

Example routine for school mornings

Here’s an example of what a back to school routine might look like:

7.30 am: Kids get up and saying something they’re grateful for.

7.40 am: Kids wash their faces and get dressed.

7:50 am: Kids have breakfast.

8.15 am: Kids brush teeth

8.20 am: Kids pack their lunch in their bag and looks at books while you get ready to go.

8.25 am: Kids put on sunscreen.

8.30 am: Leave for school

Every family will have their own way of doing things. Find what works for you and your family.

5. Be Positive

Positivity is infectious and a good mood can have a ripple effect.

As a parent, you can set the tone of the day so do your best to tackle the mornings as positively as you can.

A great exercise to help foster this within the family is by sharing one thing that you’re each looking forward to during the day.

6. Clock It Up

Make the time as visible as possible by placing clocks all over the house. Place them in each kid’s room, the bathroom, the kitchen, the lounge and even the hallway — if they’re old enough they could even wear a watch.

By doing this and making the time more apparent you will help teach them how to manage time and show your kids the value of being on time.

A great way to help them learn is by providing them with manageable countdowns like: “At 7:50, I need you to be at the table eating breakfast.”

7. Do a “Captain’s-Check”

Get your kids to do a “Captain’s-Check” to make sure they’ve packed everything they need for school before leaving the house.

The last thing you want is having to run back to school again to drop off an assignment or lunch that’s been forgotten.

8. Reward Your Kids

There’s nothing like a good old rewards system to encourage some good behaviour.

When implementing this, first determine what the biggest negative contributing factors to the morning are. Then you can build a reward system around this.

If your kid has hit their goal consecutively by the end of the week, a small reward is encouraged such as a trip out for ice cream, a book, or a treat.

You can also make it fun – for example, try this ‘Beat the buzzer’ game to encourage your child to be ready on time.

9. Get Up Early

It’s about working smarter, not harder!

It’s normal for kids to sleep late over the school holidays. So when it comes to establishing a routine again, a back to school sleep schedule should be put into place towards the end of the holidays.

Start to wake them up a bit earlier each day in the period leading up to back-to-school.

10. Communicate With Teachers

It’s really important to discuss any needs your child may have with teachers, especially if they may be starting at a new school or getting a different teacher after a school break.

11. Ban The TV, Computer And Tablet

If you want to make the back to school routine easier on yourself as a parent, try banning any form of electronic entertainment including the TV, video games, computer or tablet during the morning rush.

It’s best to avoid letting your kids turn on any devices even if they’ve finished getting ready and have a bit of time to spare.

The problem is that once they get stuck in it may be prove difficult to get them to shut down when asked.

12. The Clothes Predicament & Preparation

Whilst most schools have uniforms, there are a few that don’t (my little one’s included) — this can easily turn a happy morning into a right nightmare.

Young kiddies and girls may find it especially difficult to decide what they should wear for the day.

This hassle can be avoided by having your kids select the clothes they want to wear the evening before (including underwear and socks!)

The same applies to those that have to wear uniforms. Preparation the night before is KEY to avoiding morning mishaps.

13. Keep Breakfast Simple And Healthy

Make sure your kids start the day the right way with a nourishing breakfast.

I also like to make sure they have their vitamins and we all have a glass of Forever’s magical Aloe Vera Gel.

This gives me peace of mind that they have had their daily boost in all of the nutritious goodness.

back to school routine

14. Label Their School Supplies And Clothes

After a school break, you can build excitement about going back to school by getting new school supplies and labeling them — this also helps items not to get lost!

Get the kids involved in doing this with you. This is a great way to bond and have a chat with them about what they’re looking forward to or concerned about.

15. Use A Back To School Checklist

Whether it’s the start of the school year, or the beginning of Term 3, having a back to school checklist will make your life and your kids’ so much easier.

Create two lists — one for you as the parent and one for each of the kids.

Identify all the tasks that need to be done — uniforms, books, haircuts, shoes, etc. — and write these down, along with a timeline of when you want it done.

Read ‘Good Parenting Tips For Improving Your Parenting Skills’ here.

16. Stay Organised With A Designated School Space

Having a designated school space at home can help you and your kids to be more organised and manage the school routine much better.

The school space or whatever other fun name your kids may want to call it, is the place where all school items are kept and/or returned to – school bags, lunch boxes, shoes, sporting goods, etc.

Using a space like this can also help your kid develop their own self-management skills and promotes their success in adhering to their “Chart Tasks” by limiting the number of places they need to look for something they need for school.

Let Going Back to School Be A Breeze

Establishing a back to school routine doesn’t have to be stressful. Preparation really is the key.

I also find it incredibly helpful being a mompreneur that gets to work from home as this gives me so much flexibility in supporting my kids during these periods.

29 Tips On How To Build Confidence In Kids

Confidence in kids is extremely vital to their healthy self-development. With how the world currently is, it seems that this is something that has taken a detrimental knock on many children.

If we had thought being a kid was tough in the age of the internet (cyber-bullying/ constant comparison), try that on with a pandemic on top (and a rise in mental health issues).

A confident child with good self-esteem will be better equipped to face the ins and outs of everyday life — they would know how to stand up for themselves, be responsible, take ownership, deal with frustration and challenges, as well as positive and negative emotions.

Us parents play an important role in helping to build and instil this confidence within these young souls. It’s up to us to be very intentional with how we can help them.

In this article, I look at the top tips on how to build confidence in kids so that they can thrive in life regardless of what’s happening in the world.

30 Tips On How To Build Confidence In Kids During A Pandemic

Read ’23 Reasons Why Network Marketing is the Biz To Be In Right Now’ here.

30 Tips On How To Build Self-Confidence In Kids

1. Show Your Love Unconditionally

Confidence In Kids

This may seem obvious, but it’s the most important. Your child needs to know that you love them no matter what.

Whether they win or lose that sports match, get good grades or not, or even when you may be upset with them.

Unconditional love builds a strong foundation for a confident child.

The way our kids believe we see them has a profound impact on the way they see themselves. So the role we play here is extremely important.

2. Provide Positive Feedback And Praise

Children need to receive praise and positive feedback — what you as a parent think has an impact on how they measure their worth and achievements.

Don’t go and praise them for everything, be genuine with what you say. If they fail at something or struggle with a particular skill, praise the effort, but don’t be disingenuous with praising the results.

Encourage them that it’s okay to not be able to do everything perfectly and that some things take time and practise. Or they can move on altogether if it’s not for them.

3. Help Them Set Goals

Self-confidence in kids will increase when you help them set realistic goals. When a child has a dream, you want to be able to support them in making it a possibility in whatever way you can, even if it may seem ridiculous to you.

Getting them to share their goals, large and small, and helping them achieve them will help make them feel strong and capable.

Turn their desires into actionable goals by encouraging them to make a list of things they’d like to achieve. Then, practise breaking down these longer-term goals into practical benchmarks.

You’ll be validating their interests and helping them learn the skills they need to attain their goals throughout life.

4. Model Self-love And Positive Self-talk

The way your kids will love and speak to themselves will be based on how you love and speak to yourself.

You don’t realise it but kids pick up on everything and model that behaviour. So speak to yourself with kindness and love. Celebrate yourself when there’s personal success and share it with them.

5. Give Them Age-appropriate Tasks And Responsibilities

A great way to boost confidence in kids is by giving them age-appropriate responsibilities and chores to do as they will feel they are making a valuable contribution and that they are needed.

This could include tasks such as making the bed, feeding the pets, setting the table, folding clothes, picking up toys, fetching siblings etc.

Confidence In Kids

6. Teach Resilience And That Failure Is Normal

It’s totally normal to want to protect your kids from failure. There’s nothing worse than seeing your child sad or disappointed, but failure builds resilience and is how they learn.

Falling short on a goal or not getting something 100% right will help them realise that the world won’t end if this happens.

Show them how they can use these experiences as lessons and talk about what steps they could possibly take next time.

7. Instil Independence And Adventure

Kids who are confident will be excited to try new things without fearing that they may fail.

A great way to do this for younger kids can be by baking or cooking together and giving them most of the responsibility while you supervise.

Encourage your kids to try new things and go new places. Day trips and outings, new hobbies, holidays and trips with mates or schoolmates can all expand your kids’ horizons and build confidence in their ability to handle new situations.

8. Encourage Physical Activities And Sports

Movement is not only important because of the health benefits, but also because it can help kids learn to recognise their strengths and weaknesses (which they’ll accept or strengthen), manage defeat, expand their group of mates and learn how to work in a team.

This will also help them stay fit and learn to appreciate and value their bodies.

Encourage them to find a physical activity that they really enjoy, don’t push an activity on them because it’s what you want them to do.

9. Support Their Passions

Confidence In Kids

Exploring their own interests can help kids develop a sense of identity, which is essential to building confidence.

And as they see their talents grow, this will also give them a huge confidence and self-esteem boost

Make sure as the parent you respect and encourage your child’s interests — even if it doesn’t necessarily interest you.

10. Think Before You Compliment

We know that kids need loads of encouragement, especially when they’re doing things for the first time like learning to walk or draw.

It’s important to be very intentional with the praise we give, as children can get very used to hearing “well done” or “nice work” that they will then struggle to know when their accomplishments are really worth celebrating.

Also, it’s not necessary to give praise when they do something they’re supposed to do like brushing their teeth or putting their clothes in the wash, just saying “thank you” is enough.

Try to offer specific feedback: Instead of saying that your kid’s drawing is beautiful, maybe point out their brilliant use of colours.

11. Let Them Make Age-Appropriate Decisions

Confidence in kids gets built when you allow them the chance to make choices from a young age.

Let them make age-appropriate decisions like what to wear, what to eat for breakfast, what game to play or colour to use, where to go on an outing etc.

12. Encourage Them To Try New Things

Encourage your kids to try new things. It’s healthy for kids to diversify instead of always focusing their energy on what they already know or do well at.

Attaining new skills makes kids feel capable and confident that they can do whatever comes their way.

13. Practice Positive Self-Talk With Them

This is a good tip for us adults too!

Both adults and kids can so easily get caught up in the negative and damaging self-talk: “I can’t do this,” or, “I’m terrible at __________,” or, “What is wrong with me?”

Try one of these growth mindset affirmations in the image for encouragement.

Confidence In Kids

14. Promote Problem Solving

Encourage your kids to problem-solve instead of always giving them the answer.

Critical thinking is so useful especially in giving a child a sense of confidence to know they can work things out on their own.

This is just about creating space for this, if they need your help you can step in.

15. Set Rules And Be Consistent

First and foremost you are the parent, not a best friend. It’s important that you create structure and healthy boundaries for your kids.

Learning and following rules give kids a feeling of safety and confidence. Every family and home will have different rules and these will change over time based on their age.

16. Encourage Them To Get Involved In Helping Others

Boost confidence in kids by encouraging them to help others. The opportunity of helping others is something kids are naturally drawn to whether it’s helping mum in the kitchen or taking biscuits to an old age home.

17. Model And Work On Your Own Confidence

As we already know, our kids model us, so it’s important to focus on improving your own confidence.

Start by making positive comments about yourself and others in your kid’s presence.

18. Join In On Their Play

Joining in on your kid’s play or activity communicates that they are important to you and worth your time.

Allow your kids to choose the activity, as well as lead it.

This gives them autonomy and when they see you engaged and enjoying the activity this will bring them joy and a sense of accomplishment.

19. Don’t Get Upset About Mistakes

It’s important that kids know that everyone makes mistakes and it’s how they learn from them that really matters.

People who are confident don’t let the setbacks or failures get them down, they move forward regardless taking in each lesson.

20. Embrace Imperfection

Perfectionism is something many adults still battle with, that’s why it’s vital for us to teach our kids early on that it’s completely unrealistic.

Help your kids to understand that what they see on TV, magazines, or on social media, is not always a real representation of how things really are.

The impression that others are always happy, successful, and perfectly dressed is a fantasy and an adverse one at that.

Instead, remind them that as human’s we are imperfectly perfect and that’s enough.

21. Encourage Them To Express Their Feelings

Encourage your kids to express their feelings — both positive and negative emotions — help them talk through these emotions and navigate them in a healthy way.

22. Address Them By Their Name

When looking at how to build confidence in kids, a simple way to communicate that they’re important is by addressing them by their name in a friendly way (especially with kind eye contact).

23. Make Time For Them That Has Your Undivided Attention

This is essential to making your kids feel valued and confident.

Make sure you set aside time for them where you can be 100% present.

Kids know when you’re not completely there and your mind is elsewhere.

Put away any distractions like electronics and make sure they are getting your undivided attention.

24. Speak Positively To Others About Them And Let Them Overhear

Another easy way to boost your kid’s confidence is to inadvertently let them hear you sing their praises to others on their accomplishments or efforts.

25. Don’t Ever Compare Them To Others

This is a big no-no! Absolutely avoid comparing kids to their siblings, friends or classmates (basically anyone).

Comparisons can be extremely detrimental and damaging on children and can cause them to doubt themselves, believe that they can’t please you or meet your expectations, and ultimately lose total confidence in who they are.

26. Surround Them With People Who Are Positive And Confident

Like the old adage goes “you are the company you keep” could not be more true.

You want to make sure that your kids are surrounded by people who are positive and confident as this will have an impact on them.

It’s also important that these people are uplifting and encouraging so that they can add to the growth and vibrancy of their life.

27. Ask Them For Their Advice Or Opinion

A powerful way to build confidence in kids is by asking them for their advice or opinions on situations that are age-appropriate for them

This shows them that even adults don’t always have all the answers and that it’s okay to ask for help when you need it.

Confidence In Kids

28. Create A Wall Of Fame To Acknowledge Their Achievements

This is such a beautiful way to express your admiration and appreciation for your kids’ accomplishments.

Having a “Wall of Fame” can be an excellent tool for giving kids that confidence boost in moments of self-doubt.

It could showcase anything from grades, drawings, trophies, certificates, art projects, photos of certain accomplishments etc.

29. Show Them Physical Affection

Physical touch and affection is a vital love language and is essential to making children feel joyful and confident.

This could be anything from high fives, back pats, hair tousles, hugs, shoulder/ hand squeezes etc. to show that they are loved, cared and valued.

The Future Needs Confident Kids

We are responsible for shaping the next generation. Confidence in kids is needed now more than ever, especially with how different the world now is that they are growing up in.

As parents, we need to do our best in how we help develop our kid’s confidence (as well as our own)! The way we see ourselves is how they see us too.

57 Abundance Affirmations To Call In A Prosperous 2021

Abundance affirmations are a powerful tool for reminding you of how totally and completely worthy you are of receiving all you could possibly desire in your life.

I absolutely love using positive affirmations and this has been something that really helped me when I first started building my Forever business.

One of the biggest hurdles you have to get over is realising that you actually deserve all the success you start to have in network marketing — it took me some time to really allow this truth to land.

Looking back, I had to seriously shift my abundance mindset and let go of that “lack mentality” I had been conditioned with — abundance affirmations definitely contributed to this.

In this article, I look at what affirmations are, how they work, the benefits, how to create them and 57 abundance affirmations to get you feeling your most abundant self!

What Are Affirmations?

abundance affirmations

This word, ‘affirmations’ is derived from the verb ‘affirm’ – to state that something is true.

Affirmations, specifically ones that are positive are used in order to affect the conscious and the subconscious minds so that they can directly influence our behaviour, thinking patterns, habits and environment.

According to Remez Sasson, Success Consciousness: “The words composing the affirmation, automatically and involuntarily, bring up related mental images into the mind, which inspire, energize and motivate. The affirmations, and the resultant mental images, get engraved on the subconscious mind, which in turn, changes the behaviour, habits, actions and reactions according to the repeated words.”

Research has established that around 80% of the 50,000 subconscious thoughts you have in a day are negative ones.

Wow, that’s a lot of negativity!

Affirmations help to combat this and have the power to make you consciously aware of your thoughts. You’ll also find you may have more control over those nasty negative thoughts that creep in!

This is how affirmations affect the subconscious mind.

Cultivate an attitude of gratitude and make every day feel like a gift! Read here.

How Affirmations Work?

So as we have just learned affirmations are positive phrases that when said repeatedly are meant to override any negative beliefs or thought patterns and assist you in inviting incredible things into your life.

Who wouldn’t want this?

However, not all affirmations are created equally and they can do more harm than good if not done correctly.

There has to be some level of belief in what you are saying.

Looking into the mirror and saying “I am rich” repeatedly doesn’t always work.

When creating an affirmation think of the “truth” you want to experience. It must be something that you can actually believe.

So if you write down “I am rich”, but this doesn’t seem believable to you yet, then look at writing it in a less direct way – “I am becoming someone who is rich and wealthy” or “I am learning that it’s safe to be rich and successful”.

These “gradual” affirmations are far more effective than the traditional affirmations you see since they are much easier for the subconscious mind to accept.

You can move on to the more direct affirmation when it feels more believable.

What Are Abundance Affirmations?

abundance affirmations

Abundance Definition:

Abundance refers to a large quantity of something — something you have so much of that it’s overflowing.

You could have an abundance of money. But you could also have an abundance of love, joy, or friends and family.

Abundance is the opposite of lack. It is an outpouring of bounty.

So abundance affirmations usually refer to positive statements that are related to an overflow of wealth, money, prosperity, success.

13 Ways on How to Build Confidence for Network Marketing Success. Read here.

Benefits of Affirmations

  • They define your focus. When you focus your energy on the things you want you are immediately creating an abundance mindset and strengthening your resolve to make it happen.
  • They influence the subconscious mind.
  • They have the potential to change the way you think and behave, which can affect your desired outcomes in life.
  • Positive statements make you feel more positive, energetic and motivated, and therefore, put you in a better position to transform your inner and external worlds.
abundance affirmations
  • They help to increase your awareness of your thoughts. This makes it easier to recognise the negative and self-doubt thought patterns holding you back.
  • They open you up to possibility. Instead of getting stuck in the loop of “it’s impossible”, affirmations flip this on its head. When we begin to positively affirm what is possible, an entire world of possibilities opens up.

How To Write Abundance Affirmations That Work

abundance affirmations

Here are several steps to guide you in forming your abundance affirmation statement.

Step 1: “I am…”

Always begin your affirmation with the words ‘I am’, as this makes it super powerful. Doing this gives your subconscious mind a command. Your mind then interprets it as a directive that it must follow through on.

Step 2: Use Present Tense

Speak as if it’s already done. It helps your mind to imagine the outcome.

Step 3: Affirm What You Do Want

Avoid using negatives in your affirmation. Your subconscious mind does not recognise negatives.

So if you say, ‘don’t close yourself off from making more income’, all your mind hears is ‘close yourself off…’ Instead, say ‘I am open to making more income’.

Step 4: Keep It Short And Sweet

It doesn’t need to be an entire essay!

It’s much easier remembering something that that is short and to the point.

Think ‘It is safe for me to be rich and successful’ over, ‘it is safe for me to have lots of money so that I can be financially free and look after my family’.

Step 5: Be Specific

Being specific makes it easier for your mind to envision the outcome. So instead of saying, ‘I will increase my earnings this year’, say ‘I am enjoying my $200,000 earnings this year’.

Step 6: Must Be Written For You

Your affirmations should be descriptive of your own actions and not those of others.

Step 7: It Must Have Meaning

Make sure your affirmation means something to you, it has to carry emotional weight in order to be effective.

Additional Tips For When Writing Affirmations:

  • They should target a specific area, behaviour or belief that you’re struggling with.
  • Think about the areas of your life you want to change and then write down several areas or behaviours you would like to work on.
  • Make sure they are congruent with your core values and the things that most matter to you, so that you’ll feel genuinely motivated to achieve them.
  • Be sure that your affirmation is credible and achievable.
  • Say it with feeling. Affirmations can be more effective when they carry emotional weight.

How To Have A Healthy Morning Routine To Beat The Lockdown Blues

A healthy morning routine has been the biggest game changer for me going into yet another lockdown.

Somehow over the last few months all the things that served me tapered off and before I knew it I was feeling like complete rubbish.

There’s a lot that’s out of our control right now, but what is in our control is how we spend our time, which will ultimately affect how we feel.

I’m sure this is not the first time you’re hearing how beneficial this daily ritual can be for you, but the facts are that this is what the majority of successful people have in common.

People who have a consistent morning routine will experience greater levels of happiness and productivity — all of which the world could use presently.

In this article, I look at why having a healthy morning routine can benefit you and how to create one that will support you in feeling phenomenal!

What Is A Healthy Morning Routine?

A morning routine is a set of actions you perform in the morning, usually before your day’s main activity (like going to work), which makes you feel happy, healthy and focused for the day ahead.

healthy morning routine

This usually means waking up earlier than you need to (or want to).

These actions or activities are things you want to do for yourself first thing so they don’t get pushed aside and forgotten when the craziness of your day ensues.

Practising a morning routine is like making a commitment to putting yourself first and getting a personal headstart on the day, every day.

What it consists of will be unique to what serves you and your goals. This is definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach.

As long as the things you do make you feel good and set you up for success (however that may look for you), then whatever your morning ritual looks like will benefit you greatly.

The Benefits of A Healthy Morning Routine

Tim Ferris quote

1. You Control The Day, The Day Doesn’t Control You

Often when we wake up at the very last second to get ready for work etc. it can feel like a manic rush and often this is the energy we take with us into the rest of our day.

Also, not having any time for yourself means that you’re not moving into the day intentionally. It will all just take over and before you know it chews you up and spits you out and then you do it again.

2. Stress Reduction

Doing something for yourself first thing will naturally make you more relaxed and feeling happier.

3. Increased Confidence

When you start the day with a personal focus and complete actions that have meaning to you you are building self-efficacy and this helps to create confidence.

4. Increase In Productivity Levels

As we start each new day, we can better focus on what is in front of us, where to prioritise our time, and, ultimately, increase our productivity.

Productivity is not always about how much we are getting done but can also refer to the level of quality and intention we are giving to tasks.

How to Create Your Healthy Morning Routine

healthy morning routine fact

When creating a morning routine it’s said that approaching it from a more holistic view can be greatly beneficial for your entire being.

This means choosing activities that can nourish you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

It’s important to choose things that you actually want to do, versus those that you feel you “should” do (based on the morning rituals of successful people or celebrities).

If it doesn’t excite you then you’ll lack any motivation to wake up earlier to do it.

Mentally

This has to do with your mind, including thoughts, beliefs, values, goals, hopes, dreams, desires and plans.

Some options include:

Set Goals:

Whether they are long term, short term, easy or difficult, listing your goals will renew your focus and keep you motivated and inspired.

Writing down your three main goals for the day is also a great way to give your day a focused intention.

Maybe write them on a sticky note and paste it somewhere where you can be reminded throughout the day.

Brain Dump:

Sometimes we can wake up with so much going on in our head, this could be things we need to do, want to accomplish etc.

Best way to combat this is by brain dumping all that information into a list. From there you can organise what you’ll tackle first.

Meditation:

I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you how powerful meditation is and the benefits of a consistent practise.

If you’re looking to feel calmer, present and relaxed throughout your day then I highly suggest you give meditation a go!

Here are some great resources for a guided meditation to get you started.

The free 21-day guided meditations from Deepak Chopra and Oprah Winfrey is also a great place to start.

Read:

Make an effort to read something that feeds your mind. By just allocating ten minutes each day you’ll be surprised at how much you’ll read in a month — this is precious time spent on developing yourself.

Breathe:

A brilliant way to clear your mind is to practise different breathing techniques. Here are some exercises that you can try.

Emotionally

This relates to your feelings, emotions and relationships — all that corresponds to the heart.

Some things you can do to support your emotional well-being include:

Express Gratitude:

New research continues to surface on the science and benefits of gratitude. Benefits range from how it improves relationships, physical and emotional health, sleep, mental stamina, energy and overall happiness.

I love doing this and it’s something I do every morning. Before I get out of bed, I think of at least 5 things I’m grateful for

Hug Your Kid, Spouse Or Pet:

Hugging boosts your oxytocin levels (the love hormone), increases serotonin (elevates mood and creates happiness), strengthens the immune system, boosts self-esteem, lowers blood pressure, balances the nervous system and releases tension.

Basically, hugging makes you feel good

Find someone – or something – to hug. This is the most simple and easy practise to put you into a positive mood for the rest of the day.

hug

Physically

This has to do with our physical vessels, including what we eat and drink and how we move.

Here are some options for increasing your physical health:

Get Moving:

We all know the benefits of exercise. Get your blood flowing!

This might be a run, walk, hike, trip to the gym, yoga, stretching or doing your own home workout.

Clean Your Physical Space:

Often when our physical space is messy and cluttered, our minds feel the same way.

Take the time to clear your space, declutter your room or workspace and make yourself feel more at ease.

Read this article for how to declutter.

Cleanse your body by giving it a bit of a break. Read how I like to do this, here.

Spiritually

This can be anything related to you that gives you a feeling of inspiration —which means, ‘in spirit’.

While this doesn’t specifically convey religion, it might for you.

This is more about feeling connected to something greater – and what makes you feel most connected to yourself.

Here are a few examples:

Meditation:

Although meditation is great for the mind, it will also benefit you spiritually if that’s the kind of connection you are looking for.

meditation

Mirror Work:

This was a method originally developed by inspirational spiritual teacher Louise Hay as a way of getting in touch with the inner self.

The main purpose of mirror work is to cultivate self-love, self-care, and a more meaningful relationship with others.

By looking at your reflection for a short amount of time each day and talking to yourself with kindness and love, you can begin to nurture a more accepting and forgiving connection with yourself.

Be In Nature:

Take a walk somewhere scenic or go for a hike, or maybe even just sit in your garden for a short while.

Spending time outdoors with mother nature will unquestionably feed your soul — I love my daily walks with the kids!

My Healthy Morning Routine

After the last two lockdowns, I realised I had drank a tad too much and my exercise routine had ceased to exist.

So with entering into a new year and another lockdown, I decided my goal was to cultivate new habits. I decided on dry January (no alcohol) and carving out time for me with lots of exercise.

My current goal is 10 000 steps a day, as well as competing with my besties on burning 700 calories a day — we’ve all linked our Apple watches.

I also do my gratitudes when I wake up, then I get kids ready for school then I exercise or if it’s the weekend I exercise first.

At the moment my lockdown exercise routine is running or walking and then four live personal training classes a week.

These sessions are with Gorka — he is a dancer from Strictly Come Dancing — you sign up and get a live YouTube link for the class.

I also do lots of dog walks following footpaths so I can see new parts of the countryside.

The healthy morning routine I follow

Healthy Morning Routine Tips To Get You Started

1. A Healthy Morning Routine Starts The Night Before

It’s absolutely eseential to get quality sleep if you want to start your mornings off in the best possible way.

Make sure you get the recommended 7-9 hours (or whatever works for you). If you want to wake up earlier, you’ll have to get to bed earlier, simple as that really.

2. Don’t Hit Snooze

This will be hard, especially in the beginning as you start to wake up earlier. An extra five minutes seems like it will help right?

But what actually happens is that after you hit snooze, you begin another sleep cycle, which means that those 5 minutes will make you feel completely groggy and more likely to keep hitting snooze until the time you have to get up.

morning routine quote

3. Avoid Your Phone First Thing

Kick it old school and rather use an alarm clock if you can. Or if you do use your phone’s alarm keep it on airplane mode.

It can be rather tempting when we see unread messages waiting, or you may just feel the urge to quickly check your social media — however when you do this you give your power over to external matters and will likely not start the day on your terms.

It takes only a second for a message or an Instagram post to determine your mood.

The best practise is to completely ignore your phone first thing in the morning for at least 30 minutes.

4. Be Generous With The Amount Of Time You Set Aside

There’s nothing worse than feeling rushed in the morning, so make sure you give yourself enough time to wake up, get dressed and complete your routine before your other commitments.

5. Keep It Simple

When looking at how to start a healthy morning routine start small and simple and build up.

It can be easy to get overly excited and want to do EVERYTHING, but this will easily overwhelm you and you’ll find you may give up or beat yourself up for not getting everything done.

I recommend picking one activity from each of the categories mentioned earlier.

This way you can avoid feeling overwhelmed and stressing about something that’s meant to bring you peace and joy.

6. Give It A Go And Be Consistent

Once you’ve settled on the activities you feel will benefit you, give them a go for at least a week or two before you decide on whether or not it works for you.

When cultivating a new habit, it can take at least 21 days to stick, so try your best to keep at your morning routine for this amount of time!

7. Be Flexible

If you’re not enjoying a certain part of your morning routine, then try replacing it with something else that you love.

morning routine quote

Ready To Start Your Day In The Best Way?

I have found that by having a healthy morning routine I am better able to support myself through these uncertain times — something we actually do have control over!

All we can do is keep looking forward and trust that we’ll come out the other side of this soon enough!

33 Of My Top Self Development Quotes

1. “Be The Change You Want To See In The World.” – Gandhi

This quote rings so true, especially with everything that’s been happening this year.

It can be so easy to get caught up in all the negativity, so it’s important to create your own light in times of darkness.

Whatever you want to experience more of in the world, become that.

There’s a lot we don’t have control over, but what we can control is how we show up in our own lives — and this, in turn, ripples outward.

gandhi self development quote

2. “What holds most people back isn’t the quality of their ideas, but their lack of faith in themselves. You have to live your life as if you are already where you want to be.” – Russell Simmons

I’ve seen this time and time again with those building a network marketing business. You can want to do it, but until you actually believe you can do it, you will keep holding yourself back.

This is why self-development is such an important part of being an entrepreneur.

Russell Simmons self development quotes

3. “You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight. If you want to reach your goals and fulfil your potential, become intentional about your personal growth. It will change your life.” – Jim Rohn

4. “To grow yourself, start from knowing yourself.” – Anonymous

Self-awareness is essential to living a happy and fulfilled life.

Expanding your knowledge is one of the powerful things you can do for yourself — if you’re not growing and developing as a person then you’re not really moving forward in life, which means you must be moving backwards — who wants that?

Anonymous self development quotes

5.  “Set a goal so big that you can’t achieve it until you grow into the person who can.” – Zig Ziglar

Zig Ziglar quote

6. “The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday.” – Anonymous

The age-old tale of comparison — this is something us humans have not quite learnt how to not do.

So, when the comparison bite strikes, remind yourself that we have no idea what someone else’s circumstances are.

It may look pretty on the outside, but you’ll never know what someone else is actually experiencing.

Focus. On. You.

That’s all that matters.

8. “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

9. “Growth is the great separator between those who succeed and those who do not. When I see a person beginning to separate themselves from the pack, it’s almost always due to personal growth.” – John C. Maxwell

11. “You Are Never Too Old To Set Another Goal Or To Dream A New Dream.” – Les Brown

Every day when we wake up, we have a choice and can choose exactly who we want to be that day.

Decide who you desire to be and then become it and choose that version of yourself over and over, before you know it that’s who you’ll be.

12. “The Best Investment You Can Make Is In Yourself.” – Warren Buffet

When most people think of investments, they think of financial investments. They are so concerned with making more money that bettering their bank account is worth more than themselves.

Put some time and energy into becoming a better you by investing in yourself.

You’ll quickly see an ROI that will benefit your entire life (usually including your bank account too).

15. “Setting Goals Is The First Step In Turning The Invisible Into The Visible.” – Tony Robbins

Many people have these grand ideas of what they want to do in life, yet they have no plan on how to get there.

Setting clear short term and long term goals has been a massive catalyst in helping me achieve all I have done in my life so far.

You have to have a roadmap to show you the way, otherwise, you are leading yourself blindly and that doesn’t usually get you what you want.

19. “Don’t take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.” – Don Miguel Ruiz

This is a big one, especially when you’re building your own business. A lot of the time friends and family will weigh in with their opinion.

You have to hold steadfast in your WHY so that you’re not swayed by the opinions of others.

This takes practice, but once you get it, you’ll feel so liberated.

16 Tips On How To Stay Motivated During Lockdown

Learning how to stay motivated during lockdown has been a dance we’ve all had to become familiar with.

None of us could have foreseen how this year was going to go, let alone having two lockdowns!

When we had the first one I experienced a major dip in my motivation, which I’m sure was the case for many.

There’s a couple of key things I found to really help keep the motivation game strong, so when we entered this second lockdown I felt more prepared for it.

With that said, I’m quite ready for some resemblance of a normal life to carry on again and for us to leave this crazy year behind.

Here are 16 tips on how to stay motivated when in lockdown (or for life in general).

1. Celebrate The Little Things And Focus On The Positives In Your Life

Do you find you look at your phone first thing as you wake up and maybe scroll through social media or the news?

I used to do this often, but since COVID hit I have found it so beneficial to not look at my phone for at least 30 minutes after waking and to limit my news intake.

And when I do happen to look at some news, I make an effort to focus on some of the positive stories of recovery etc.

By doing this I’m able to really feel more optimistic and gratitude during my day.

I also make a conscious effort to celebrate small things throughout my day, for me, this could be my little one Pheebs creating a piece of art or someone from my team signing up a new Forever Business Owner.

2. Routine Is Key

I could not emphasise this point enough.

Regardless of you not having to actually leave your house, make sure you keep your daily routine going (or start one if you didn’t have one before!)

As tempting as it may be to work from bed, rather reserve these days for when you really need it, otherwise you’ll find yourself not being as productive as what you could be.

Get up at the same time you usually would (maybe even earlier) and get your day going with exercise or stretching and any other self-care activities you like to do before you start work or dealing with the kids.

Because I already worked from home, not much changed on that front for me during lockdown.

However, when I first starting working from home after corporate, there were huge adjustments I had to get used to. Cultivating a strong daily routine can make this transition a lot easier.

Watch this video for some inspiration as to why being an early riser can completely change your life.

Struggling with keeping the productivity levels high? Read my article on ‘9 Ways to Increase Productivity Working From Home During Covid-19’ here.

3. Find The Ideal Workplace

How to stay motivated to work you ask? I find having an ideal workplace is the best solution to this.

As I mentioned above working from bed can seem novel at first but you’ll find that you’re way more productive and motivated when you have a dedicated work station to plonk yourself at.

If this means investing in a little desk and good quality chair to sit at — do it!

Not only will your posture thank you, but you will feel so much more inspired to get stuff done.

I love to work somewhere where there is good natural light. I also like to decorate my desk with plants and pictures of my family, as well as quotes that motivate me.

4. Move Your Body

This one ties in with having a routine. Make sure you move your body in some way, shape or form. The worst thing you can do (especially in a lockdown) is become stagnant.

There are so many fitness apps to choose from now, that working out at home has never been easier.

Forever also has a brilliant Forever F.I.T app that allows you to track your progress, access recipes and workouts and tons more–I use it when I’m doing a C9 Cleanse

I’ve found that lockdown has been a great time for me to do a cleanse as I’m not so tempted to steer off course by social engagements.

5. Embrace Your Emotions

how to stay motivated with family

We are living in unprecedented times, it’s okay to not feel okay. If there’s one thing I learnt from this year it’s that we have to just embrace our emotions and not bottle them up or numb them out.

Be vulnerable, share how you’re feeling, speak openly about what’s on your heart with your family and invite them to share too.

By doing this you allow yourself to truly feel and acknowledge your emotions and by sharing you will see how others are likely feeling the same as you.

6. Stay Connected With Your Loved Ones

Often when life can feel too much it’s easy to retreat inward and not want to engage much, but the best thing you can do is stay connected with family and friends.

In a time that has made us feel disconnected through social distancing, it’s up to us to make an effort to keep those connections strong.

Just a simple text saying “How are you? Thinking of you” can really make someone’s day.

stay connected

7. Look After Your Mental Health

As important as it is to look after your physical body it’s just as imperative to look after your mental health.

Spend time in nature, so if you have a garden at home do some gardening or just walk barefoot on the grass. Even just sitting in the sun for 15 minutes can do wonders for your soul.

8. Find A Purpose During This Time

For many, this year felt like being dropped in a forest with no clear direction of which way to get out.

One thing that this year has given all of us is perspective.

Use this pandemic and extra time to really discover what it is you love and are passionate about.

You can do this by trying out many different things to get a feel for what resonates with you.

For me, it’s helping people and this is what I get to do by building a Forever Living business.

I’ve witnessed so many women create so much from nothing and live out their dreams they never initially thought would be possible — other than my family — this is my WHY and motivation that drives me.

how to stay motivated with your dreams

9. Set Small, Realistic Goals That You Can Reach Daily and Weekly

Having big goals is important but it would be impossible to reach those if you don’t first start with the steps (smaller goals) to get there.

Tony Robbins, one of the world’s most well-known motivational speakers and personal development coaches, says: “A major source of stress in our lives comes from the feeling that we have an impossible number of things to do. If you take on a project and try to do the whole thing all at once, you’re going to be overwhelmed.”

And the best way to combat these feelings of overwhelm is with a concept called “chunking”. This is when you break down each goal into the smallest realistic steps and do only one of them at a time.

Neuroscience shows us that each small success triggers the brain’s reward centre, releasing feel-good chemical dopamine. This helps focus our concentration and inspires us to take another similar step.

Want to learn how to set goals and stick to them? Read my article ‘Goal Setting How To: A Guide For Mums Who Want Massive Success’ here.

10. Less Is More

I have found that one of the best ways to get myself feeling motivated and productive is by clearing out my house. Chuck out anything that you no longer need.

In the words of Marie Kondo, if it doesn’t bring you joy, get rid of it. By cleaning your house you can clean your mind!

Lockdown gave me some time to do this and I’m so grateful because it helped me get so much more organised.

Don’t wait for a lockdown to get this done, just start today!

11. Take This Time To Discover Yourself

What do you enjoy most? What have you always wanted to try or what hobbies did you love doing but stopped due to life getting in the way?

If there’s one thing that this pandemic has given us, it’s time and lots of it. The excuse of not having time has literally flown out the window.

Rosie & Georgie

My daughter Rosie, and her best friend Georgie, have taken this time to start their very own business, Blondie & Brownie (making brownies and chocolate reindeers) to keep themselves busy — and absolutely smashing it! * proud mum alert!

 blondie & brownie

Bring out the paints or pottery clay, build something with your hands or put that jigsaw puzzle together.

There really has been no better time than now to discover what you like and what brings you joy.

12. Switch Off

Take some time to properly switch off and do a digital detox. It’s so easy to get caught up in social media and I have often found myself consumed by all the differing opinions about things.

When I can tune out from all the noise I am finally able to hear my own thoughts and come back and refocus on what’s really important in my life.

13. Personal Development Through Reading, Videos And Podcasts

Life would be pretty meaningless if we stayed the same and never made any effort to evolve.

Spending time on your own self-development is probably one of the best things you could be doing for yourself right now.

Read books, listen to podcasts or watch YouTube videos that can expand you and give you more perspective and knowledge on life.

This can be a great way to support yourself, your family and even your business, especially through hard times.

14. Stay Present

It’s so easy to live in the past or in the future, but all that we can be completely certain of is this very moment right now.

The best way to stay present is to invite more mindfulness into your day.

As an example, when you’re reading a book to your little one, make sure you’re not thinking about a million other things, really practise full focused presence when you’re with them.

15. Plan And Set Your Priorities

Learning how to stay motivated working from home can be tricky if you’re not prepared. Working from home has its advantages, but there can be some downsides too.

Spend some time at the beginning of the day or the evening before to plan your day and with exactly what you’re going to do and set the priorities of the tasks.

As important as it is to set your tasks for the day, it’s equally as important to make sure you end at a reasonable hour.

It’s easy to just keep on working when you’re already at home, but it’s important to have that work life balance.

16. Visualise The Big Picture

Firstly, keep your eye on your WHY and then one step outside of that remember to see the bigger picture always.

Sometimes we can take life too seriously, remember what’s truly important and have fun!

The Dalai Lama puts life into perspective so perfectly.

When asked what surprised him most about humanity, he answered, “Man.”

Why?

“Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

23 Reasons Why Network Marketing is the Biz To Be In Right Now

“Why network marketing?”

If you’re currently looking for a job/side-hustle, this may be a question you are asking yourself .

No one could have foreseen the circumstances of this year. The global economy is at an all-time low and people’s livelihoods are struggling.

However, one thing that is continuing to do well is network marketing.

“Why?” you may ask.

Well, that is because people still have to buy consumable products to survive — and that doesn’t just go away.

The opportunities have never been greater for success than it is now with all the resources available online.

This is THE perfect time to start building a network marketing business.

Continue reading for 23 reasons why network marketing is the biz to be in right now, especially in a crazy COVID-19 filled world.

1. Work From Anywhere

This is literally most people’s dream, to be able to do their work from wherever they are. Being able to work from home has been one of the greatest gifts this business has given me.

With wifi, a laptop and phone you are good to go from absolutely anywhere — tell me that doesn’t sound bloody good to you?

If you have to move or if you want to take an extended holiday, this is all possible with a network marketing business as it’s portable.

Thanks to Covid, many have been given a taste of what it’s like to work from home, now just imagine if you had the chance to do that permanently?

2. Your Own Schedule

How would it feel if you never had to ask anyone again if you can take time off for an appointment or if you’re sick?

You get to work on your own time with network marketing and set your own daily schedule. There are two sides to this: one is that you get to manage your own time; two is that you need to be disciplined enough to actually manage your time and get tasks done.

Like anything in life, you only get out what you are willing to put in, the same holds true for a traditional business, however, you would have a far greater investment at risk.

3. Low Cost Start Up Costs

This pandemic has affected countless people’s finances, many have had to close their businesses and starting a new business for many is just not feasible right now.

However, with a network marketing business, your initial investment is so small to get started.

With Forever, the starter pack is only £199.75 and this gives you a range of amazing products and the opportunity to grow a legitimate business.

On average, UK startups budget £5,000 to launch.

Further, the average UK startup spends £22,756 in their first year, according to a study commissioned by Geniac.

An MLM business like Forever involves a small initial investment and then a much faster return depending on how much time you’re able to put in.

4. No Employees

This is a biggie and a powerful reason alone for looking at network marketing seriously.

There are zero payroll, tax and workers compensation worries like you would usually have in a traditional business that are all cost associated with employees.

You don’t have to worry about managing anyone else and making sure they get the work done. The only person you have to focus on is yourself.

5. No Billing/Account Receivables

network marketing leads

Running a network marketing business has never been easier, billing customers, or collecting money is a hassle of the past as everything is handled online these days.

6. Tax Benefits From A Home Based Business

This is a huge benefit. With a home based business, you are able to receive some of the same tax breaks that very wealthy people take advantage of.

When you’re an employee your tax benefits are very slim compared to when you have your own business.

I would definitely suggest consulting your tax person as they will be able to give you all the substantive details on this.

7. No Commuting

You can save so much time and money from not having to commute back and forth to your business or day job. Time is a precious commodity and many people feel like they just don’t have enough of it.

This time can be better spent with your family or where it matters most for you.

For me, that’s with my wonderful husband and beautiful children.

8. Security

If there is one thing we have learnt from this year it’s that nothing is completely secure, especially in a worldwide pandemic — whether it’s a job or traditional business.

Every day employees are getting laid off and cutbacks are taking place. With the shrinking job market and technological advances, fewer and fewer people are needed to do the same job as there once was.

What seems more secure to you…having one income stream with a job where you could be outsourced or downsized in an instant, or additional income coming from a network marketing business?

Having your own network marketing business allows you to have the stability of your network — this cannot be taken away from youand to top it all off your business and revenue generated is willable to your kids!

That’s why it’s also extremely important that you build a business with a reputable MLM company such as Forever as the company is so big that it’s unlikely for them to come crumbling down.

network marketing quote

9. Royalty Income

This is one of the greatest income types you can have and with a network marketing business you can get it.

Residual income comes in even when you are not working, plus it can continue to grow month to month.

Just imagine how sweet it will be when you retire and you still have that residual income coming in every month for you.

10. Training Already In Place And Readily Available

Because Network Marketing is a system which has many independent distributors, the companies typically have training readily available. You’ll find that when you join you have an abundance of support and coaching that you can tap into — you are never alone.

This is very much my role, anyone who joins under my business is supported and receives mentoring from me.

Learn how you can work with me here!

11. Receive Help, Encouragement, And Support From Others In The Same Profession

This business is really about working together.

You will find that people are all about helping each other to succeed —because, in order for me to benefit, you also have to benefit.

At the end of the day, so many of us have the same dreams and aspirations and that is really what unites us. You will find that you develop a special kind of bond with people through network marketing and they’ll begin to become like family.

Natalie Heeley and team

12. Personal Growth

The personal growth you receive through the journey of building your network marketing business is truly phenomenal.

These two things go hand in hand.

You must want to personally grow as much as you want your income to grow!

This kind of business shows you how to become an entrepreneur, leader and a role model — a person who helps and encourages people and does what they can to help others also get what they want out of life.

Read ‘How To Improve Leadership Skills When Building A Business’ here.

13. You Build Social Skills

Hence the word “network”, you build networks of people through networking which helps you build solid social skills.

By building social skills, your confidence improves and so does many other areas of your life. People will be drawn to working with you and others will look forward to working with you.

14. Allows You To Help Others On A Massive Scale

The ripple effect that your business can have on others can be larger than you could ever fully comprehend— this business changes lives!

If you don’t want to believe me, read from others’ experiences here

If you feel called to help people, that is exactly what you’ll be able to do through a network marketing business like Forever.

Natalie Heeley with FBOs

15. Quickly Profitable

Traditional businesses can usually take 3-5 years before they generate a profit, whereas, in network marketing (depending on what you’re doing), you could see a return in days.

But, there is no magic pill for this, you have to still put work and effort in, in order to reap the rewards.

Some people have a misconception that things will just magically happen for them after they join and unfortunately nothing in life works that way.

16. Build Your Business Using The Internet

Gone are the days of having to go door to door for prospects or scouring the mall for potential people. The internet has opened the playing field up immensely for those building network marketing businesses.

I know just how powerful this can be as I had built my business using social media. If you want to take a deeper look into how I did this, check out my book here

How Social Networking Doubled My Business

17. Ability To Work In A Stress Free Environment

For most, their working environment is FEAR based.

People put their entire livelihood on an employer that could easily replace them at the drop of a hat. Also, employers are paying less yet requiring more, and this is happening every day.

With network marketing you get to work from the comfort of your home, without any outside pressure — the fear and stress are far less.

You are creating your own dream, not someone else’s dream.

Yes, you may be plugged into a greater entity which also profits, but at the end of the day, you have a legitimate business.

18. Ability To Involve Your Kids

My business has taught me how to be a role model for my kids. It instils such critical values in me like empathy, respect, hard work, confidence, optimism, integrity and humility — all of which influence your kids in the most positive way.

With being able to work from home and for yourself, your time is more flexible which means you can drop them and fetch them from school, take them to after-school activities and watch their sports games.

You are also able to involve them in your business in small ways — with your kids around you, they see what you do, how you do it and through this, they learn how to be an entrepreneur from a young age.

Being a role model for my kids

19. A Balanced Life

One of the strongest motivators for me (and for many women I work with) to start a network marketing business is so that I can have more time for myself and my family.

Competing in the corporate jungle has often meant giving that freedom up.

By working for yourself you have the flexibility to structure your life exactly how you want it.

Read ‘Work Life Balance: How To Manage Life As A Full-Time Working Mum’ here

20.  Equal opportunity

In network marketing, you begin on a level playing field.

Everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed, regardless of gender, race, social status and educational background.

In a world where women still get paid less, network marketing breaks through those barriers.

CNN Money listed 39 jobs where women actually make more than men —topping the list are women in sales, making 43 percent more than men.

Take, for example, Donna Imson — she’s been named one of the Greatest Networkers in the World and is the Executive Chairperson of QNet.

21. Partners Of Your Choice

In network marketing, you can choose the people you want to work with. A new business partner, a new customer, the choice is completely yours.

There’s no more battling difficult bosses or finicky colleagues. I have made some of my best friends through growing my network marketing business

Network marketing is so much more than just an opportunity to earn money, it’s also a chance to spend more time with family, to make a difference to the community, and to embrace your innate leadership abilities.

partners of your choice

22. Ecommerce Is Booming In Lockdown

E-commerce has grown exponentially since COVID-19 and consumers have begun shopping online in greater numbers and frequency.

According to new data from IBM’s U.S. Retail Index, the pandemic has accelerated the shift away from physical stores to digital shopping by roughly five years.

This is hugely beneficial for those in network marketing.

People still have to shop and now they are more inclined than ever to do it online!

23.  True Financial Freedom

One of the top reasons for owning your own business is that it leads to financial freedom.

True financial freedom is being able to earn lots of money without you needing to be there.

The problem with a job is that you are “selling time for money.”

This means that your income is dependent on you showing up for a job every day.

With a network marketing business, you can have hundreds of customers that are generating the income.

This can then allow you to go on holidays for a month at a time and you will still be making more money when you come back than when you left.

7 Business Motivation Tips For A Booming Network Marketing Business

When it comes to my own business motivation and pushing onwards despite the challenges that inevitably arise, I can honestly say that without the hardships (and my kids driving me all the way) I wouldn’t be where I am today!

After all, we learn the most about ourselves when we’re placed in uncomfortable positions —  this is where the most growth happens.

Building a successful network marketing business — or any business for that matter — requires a definite amount of dedication and gumption, a lot of hard work and pure, unadulterated motivation to keep on keeping on no matter what.

In this article, I’m going to explain why motivation is important in business and share 7 business motivation tips from my personal experience for those of you who are struggling to see the light.

Keep reading to learn what you need to stay the course and build the network marketing business of your wildest dreams!

Why is Motivation Important in Business?

When first starting a network marketing business, motivation is especially high, but the trickiest thing for one to master is how to stay motivated consistently.

Consistency is what produces results!

Let’s face facts, you are going to have your off days (yes, plural).

If everything in life were easy we’d never be able to fully appreciate coming full circle and the journey of our mental metal being tempered in the furnace of life.

Growing your own business means that you are directly responsible for its success and how you pick yourself up when you fall — motivation plays a massive part in moving through both sides of the spectrum.

Without the necessary motivation to keep the wheels turning most businesses would probably fail.

Motivation is what helps you get up in the morning when you’d rather hit the snooze button again.

Motivation is what helps you become a better leader for your team and keep them going when their inner fires begin waning.

Motivation is what helps you overcome setbacks (hello 2020, I’m talking to you) so that you can take back control of your financial destiny.

It is easy to be motivated when you’re just getting going, but staying highly motivated takes practice.

Luckily, if you’re reading this, then you’ve already taken the very first step towards learning to fill your own cup up.

The following business motivation tips should help keep your motivation fire burning strong whenever you find yourself slipping!

Use These 7 Business Motivation Tips To Grow Your Network Marketing Business

1. Get A Business Mentor

There is a special reason why this is at the top of the list for me, as I would never been able to grow my business to where it is today without my own mentor, Dave O Connor.

Learning from someone that has walked in your shoes, endured challenges and emerged victorious is an incredibly powerful way to stay motivated.

A mentor serves as a guiding compass to help you consistently adjust and strengthen your mindset, but also to hold you accountable when you begin to doubt yourself and your decisions.

Having someone to support you, encourage you and ultimately challenge you to be the best that you can be is worth its weight in gold.

Find someone who you can have candid conversations with about your business and what it takes to be successful.

Find someone who knows more than you — “if you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re probably in the wrong room.”

Find someone who inspires you to be better every single day and tells you exactly what you need to hear, not simply what you want to hear!

2. Set Goals & Accomplish Them

So I’ve already written about goal setting before, but if one’s mentor is there as the guiding compass to help them grow professionally, then setting and achieving goals are like the locations on the map where the treasures are buried — and that need to be sought out.

Goals have a way of keeping you motivated to continue working towards ‘your something’ and I’ve found that the trick is to think or dream big, but to start small.

When you break up bigger goals into smaller, more easily achievable wins, it’s a lot less likely that you’ll end up feeling like you’re getting nowhere with your network marketing business.

That being said, goals are only as achievable as the plan you have to get you to where you need to be.

On the business motivation/planning side of things, it is also advisable to invest in some sort of a network marketing planner to write down your weekly goals, to visualize them and to take the necessary steps to plan and action everything that you want to accomplish.

Focus on measuring where you are each day/week and what needs to happen in order to be taking steps in the right direction so you can get closer to the treasure waiting to be unearthed on your map.

3. Tap Into Sources of Inspiration

We all need a little pick me up now and again when things get tough, and personally I like to remind myself to stay strong by going over some inspirational network marketing quotes from the greats in the business.

In fact, I save these quotes to my phone to go over at any moment, to save a particularly pertinent one as my wallpaper for the week and even have some framed at home.

When it comes to business motivation, being ever present in sight is more conducive to being ever present in mind.

Words are such a powerful motivating force (see #4 below) and they are the seed that is planted before persistent action waters them to blossom.
Of course, there are many mediums available today that you can consume such as network marketing podcasts, YouTube videos and my personal favourite, a good thought-provoking book!

4.  Learn To Read, Read To Learn

It is no surprise that some of the world’s greatest leaders such as Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and Tony Robbins attribute having a voracious reading appetite to their success.

It is simply not possible to know anything without acquiring knowledge and the perspective that it brings — at least while we wait for the day that we’re able to download everything to our brains within seconds (The Matrix, anyone?).

The benefits of reading are widely documented and perhaps the best part of it is the purpose that it serves for motivating you to level up as a human being.

Self-help and development books are among the biggest sellers of any book category for a reason.

There is no better feeling (other than some cheeky glasses of wine after a long day/week) than that ‘aha’ moment you get when something just clicks in your head from what you’ve read.

Or resonating completely with someone’s journey and challenges and what they did to overcome them and the fire that it lights under you to act.

Or implementing strategies learned from stellar network marketing books that work wonders in growing your business.

Learning to enjoy reading as part of your personal growth process is also a huge motivating factor when it comes to expanding your business — much like the next tip below!

5. Make More Meaningful Connections
With Motivated People

This business motivation tip is especially poignant as we are social creatures that crave the everyday interactions that make our lives and careers more meaningful.

Honestly, it is the best thing to be able to do what I do with the people I do it with — birds of a feather flock together and all that goodness!

It’s so much easier for you to stay motivated when you surround yourself and share experiences with other people that are equally (if not more) motivated than you are.

Not only do you get to learn from each other about the innate qualities (see #6 below) embedded in our DNA that makes us such powerful beings, but you also get to make and cultivate some awesome friendships along the way to keep you focused when you’re down and out.

The social aspect of networking aside, putting yourself out there and actively seeking out like-minded individuals is an unbelievably important skill to have when it comes to network marketing recruiting.

I mean, it isn’t called ‘network’ marketing for nothing.

Having the ability to build teams that align with your mission and are leaders in their own right with the ability to inspire those around them consistently is what dream teams are made of!

6. Tap Into Your Own Innate Motivation

So far, a lot of the tips I’ve mentioned are only accessible through external sources, but when it comes to the truly magical stuff it is more about one’s ability to go within to push yourself over the line.

Naturally, this comes a lot easier to some than it does to others, but like with anything in life that we have some measure of control over, firing or psyching yourself up is a skill that can be sharpened and harnessed when you need that extra kick.

To this end, I usually turn to practicing an attitude of gratitude every morning when I wake up to set the tone for my day/every evening before I go to bed to help put things into perspective when I’ve had an off day.

Realizing that there is so much to be grateful for serves as a constant reminder that you’ve already come so far and that ultimately you are in control of your own happiness and success.

Every day is a new beginning and an opportunity to make a difference in your life.

Following a home fitness routine is another activity that gives me a motivational boost on a cellular level that I can conjure up on my own steam when I need it most — also very helpful to keep me honest when I’ve indulged a fair bit;)

7. Take Some Much Needed ‘You’ Time

As a full-time working mum myself, learning how to find a work life balance is absolutely essential when it comes to being (and staying) motivated to build a business.

Things can get overwhelming pretty quickly when you’re juggling many different things at once, so it’s important to schedule some time to yourself every single week.

Natalie Heeley's business motivation

With network marketing, luckily, the flexibility and nature of the business affords us the luxury of better time management in spades — the frequent paid holiday trips around the world don’t hurt either (can’t wait for things to open up again!)

The trick with this is being able to switch off when you need to as we can’t always be in business building mode.

If you are unable to do this you’ll end up resenting your work and forgetting why you started down this path in the first place.

The network marketing success that you’re working so hard for shouldn’t be forged from something that has overtaken your life, but by something that enriches it.

Taking a much-needed break or shorter, more regular timeouts will help you to recharge your batteries to come back stronger, more determined and motivated than ever.
