It’s that time of year again, the new year’s resolution ideas start flowing and much reflection on the year that’s passed takes place. 

We have the ability to start fresh no matter which day of the year we’re in, but there’s something special about the start of a new year—filled with the magic of new possibilities and opportunities ahead. 

My intention with this article is to provide you with practical information, some of my favourite New Year’s quotes and prompts for self-reflection that you can use to head into 2022 feeling inspired, motivated and prepared for this new beginning.

15 Of The Most Attainable New Year Resolution Ideas For A Healthier & Happier Life

How many times have we made that new year resolution list and actually stuck to it? I am definitely guilty of letting my high-achieving resolutions fall by the wayside. 

So now I believe in starting simple and then you can build on from there. Also, it’s not necessary to have a list so long it’s running out the front door. 

The last thing you want to do is overwhelm yourself. This list feels inspiring, yet each one is very much attainable. 

  1. Read more books.

Honestly, the best way to grow is through reading. Challenge yourself to read at least one book per month. Maybe even create a book club with a few friends so you can get together and discuss it. This is also a great way to stay accountable. 

  1. Cook something different every week.

Eating healthier is usually at the top of everyone’s list come the new year. Although that is important, it’s also good to try to eat a wider variety of foods. It can be so easy to get stuck eating the same thing, even if it’s already healthy. Try cooking something different every week and even get the kids/ teens to help with some ideas. Might even be worth investing in a lovely new cookbook for inspiration. 

  1. Drink less alcohol.

Yes yes I know, much easier said than done, but as you get older you realise just how important this one is. Drinking less alcohol can help to improve your mood, sleep, skin and immune system. Also, that money can then be allocated towards something else your heart desires. 

  1. Budget better.

Learn to budget like a boss. This is one resolution that will benefit you so much in the future. Learning to save and budget better is a skill everyone should learn.  Apps like Money Dashboard and Koody can help you do this as painlessly as possible and make it fun to do!

  1. Join a club.

Starting a new hobby is great, but joining a club will help you meet new people in the process of starting something new. Sites like Meetup can assist you in finding a group of people with similar interests and hobbies. There’s also the option of creating digital meetups too. During the current time we are living in, human connection has been so limited so it’s important to make the effort.

  1. Book your doctors screenings.

Schedule these appointments at the beginning of the year and then you know they are in your calendar. Life tends to get crazy and then these are usually the things that get pushed out first. Contact your primary care provider, and ask which screenings (e.g., mammogram, colonoscopy) you’re due for. Schedule those in, then move on to the dentist, etc.

  1. Become an indoor plant parent.

There is something so magical about indoor plants. I love adorning my space with all the green and it makes my space feel so much more peaceful. Research actually shows that just the presence of indoor plants can lower human stress levels, and one study found that actively caring for plants calmed the autonomic nervous system and lowered blood pressure. With benefits such as these, I hope you’re running to the nearest nursery. 

  1. Quit smoking.

I don’t think I need to tell you how bad smoking is, but if you’ve been wanting to quit let 2022 be your year! Let this be your encouragement that you can do it!

  1. Stairs it up.

If there’s an option to take the stairs or the lift, I choose the stairs every time. This is a great way to get those extra steps in and a cardio boost which will naturally increase your energy levels. Give it a go!

  1. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.

Water is literally life. We are made up of mostly water so we have to make sure that we are replenishing ourselves daily. You don’t want to overdo it but make sure you are drinking enough for your size and lifestyle.

Giving back is paramount in this world. Find a cause or charity you’re passionate about and make time to volunteer there regularly.

By upcycling our clothes, we can help tackle this issue by taking our old and shabby clothes and giving them a new creative look and feel. At the end of each year, I love to set aside some time to sit down and reflect on the year that’s passed. 

Doing this exercise is so valuable in helping me understand what my challenges were, where I’ve grown, where I can improve, what my wins were and where I had the most growth. 

I came across these powerful and thought-provoking journal prompts on the Will Frolic For Food blog and just had to share! I’ll definitely be adding these to practice. 

Don’t take too long on each question, just answer from your intuition and allow wit to flow—you’ll be surprised as to what comes through.

Let’s keep moving forward, living life and reaching for our dreams. Never settle for less and know that you are worth it!

You will most definitely face adversities and challenges in business and that is why you will need to develop a thick skin and a strong mindset.

How To Know When It’s Time To Shift Your Mindset

Changing your mindset is no easy task, but it definitely is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself. 

Becoming aware and learning how to recognise a negative mindset is the first and most essential step. 

Once you do, you will be empowered to make those changes and start seeking out the positive. When things happen things in your life and business will shift dramatically. 

1. You constantly focus on what’s wrong

You find yourself constantly fixating on all the things that are going wrong or what you feel disappointed by. 

You cling to the negative, rarely looking at the positive perspective. Regardless of what negative aspects may be true, there are always silver linings and things to be grateful for. 

It’s important to be able to identify this especially when times feel more challenging.

2. You rarely celebrate your achievements 

This one is connected to the sign above. How often do you gloss over a win or think that something isn’t a big deal to celebrate? 

When you do this, it’s often because, on a conscious or unconscious level, you do not actually believe in your success or that it’s possible for you to be successful.  

This creates a loop of negativity because you are continuously sending yourself the same message—hello self-sabotage. This is not a healthy way to live. 

It’s really important to celebrate your wins, no matter how small they are, especially in business. 

3. You find yourself complaining or getting annoyed with everything 

This could be getting annoyed about the weather—it’s too hot or too cold. Or wishing the lady at the grocery store packed your items better. 

You may feel like this extreme need to want to control everything instead of just accepting things as they are. 

You want to get to a place where you can accept the things that you can’t control and take initiative on the things you can. 

4. Unmet expectations make you feel angry 

If you are constantly finding that the world around you or the people in your life (including yourself) are not meeting your expectations, it’s most likely due to your expectations being unrealistic. 

Expectations provide a foundation for your experiences. If you have unrealistically high expectations, nothing will ever satisfy you. The key is to find a balance. 

If you have an expectation of building a network marketing business that reaches 1 mil in one year, you have to really think about how realistic that is and if you’re able to commit to the action that it will take to make that happen.

5. Nothing satisfies you and you feel unhappy with everything you have (or lack)

Often when you are so focused on your goals and dreams, the drive of ambition can blind you to all the beautiful things that already exist in your life. 

Maybe you want a bigger home or newer car but there was once a time when you didn’t have what you have now—it’s essential to remind yourself of this. 

You can always strive for more but it will never truly satisfy you until you appreciate what you do have at this moment. 

6. You find yourself having regular rows with the people you care about

The people in your life can be a great reflection of what you need to look at within. 

If you find that you are constantly disagreeing with the people closest to you, this may be a sign that your mindset may need some attention, especially if you trust those people and respect and value their opinions. 

7. You see yourself as a victim 

I’m not talking about instances where perhaps you have been victimized by bad people or circumstances, rather it’s how you see yourself in most of your life’s experiences. 

The problem with this is that you will constantly feel like things are happening ‘to you’ as opposed to ‘for you’. 

The most empowering thing you can do for yourself is to stop being a victim of your circumstances and take control of what you can—like shifting your mindset.

8. You hold onto the opinions of others

Oftentimes, the negative mindset that you find yourself struggling with is a reflection of the messages and conditioning you may have been exposed to throughout your life

As humans, we are constantly influenced by those around us. It could be something a parent said to you or a previous partner that made you feel less than.

1. Change Your Thoughts By Creating Positive Affirmations

A powerful way to do this is by noticing your negative affirmations when they come up and then reframing them to be positive. 

So changing “I can’t” to “I can”, “it’s hard to “it’s easy” etc. Affirmations, both negative and positive impact the neurological functioning of the brain.

Change your thoughts and you’ll change your life. Write down a few positive affirmations and place them in places around the house where you will see them often.

16 Ways To Re-Establish A Back To School Routine


The holidays are over and this is the perfect time to establish a back to school routine. 

Back-to-school time provides a great opportunity for parents and children alike to build good habits, routines, and a checklist of tasks. 

As much as I love the school holidays and getting to spend extra time with my kids, it can often feel like a slog getting back into the groove of things. 

I am not one for a crazy morning rush, with a mad dash from morning wake-up to leaving for school.

This just doesn’t do it for me. 

I like a streamlined schedule and routine as this makes life easier for the entire household. 

This article will provide tips on how to get your child (and yourself) back in the swing of things so they can have a successful start this term and the ones to come.

Back-to-School Routine Tips 

1.  Start The Night Before

As the age-old Benjamin Franklin saying goes, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”

Get ahead of the morning routine by planning ahead (this is key!) This is the best approach to defusing morning mayhem.

Before bedtime, have your child take a bath or shower and ask them to pick out an outfit or layout their school uniform for the next day (this is a good way to give the younger ones some autonomy). 

Take some time to go over the next day’s schedule together. Check that bags are packed with all the necessary items, such as books, homework, and changes of clothing. Have everything ready to go near the door.

It’s also important that kids get a good night’s rest so that they can be focused and productive the next day. 

A nighttime routine is just as helpful. You could try engaging in a relaxing activity, such as listening to calming music before bed, which can help with winding the day down and eventual slumber.

The less your children have to battle with first thing in the morning, the smoother the transition will be.

A good time to make lunches and snacks is once the kids are in bed. Set the table for breakfast if you usually have breakfast as a family, otherwise have everything ready to go first thing.  

I also like to decide on what my outfit will be the night before and if I’m heading out after I drop the kids at school I will pre-pack what I may need. 

2. Take Some Time For Yourself

The best thing you can do to start your day is wake up before your kids do. Taking this “me time” is crucial and really sets the tone for the rest of my day.

It helps me show up fully for my family! 

This time may look different for everyone. I personally like to create a bit of a morning routine for myself that helps me feel calmer and more motivated for the day ahead.

3. Make Wake-ups More Pleasant

Early mornings can often jolt you out of dreamland into a harsh beat of reality with an alarm. 

To make this less of a rude awakening I suggest finding alternative ways you can get your kids up and going. 

Maybe set their favourite song as their alarm tone (great for teens) or try waking them up with cuddles and kisses (great for the little ones). 

A more enjoyable wake-up doesn’t mean it has to take longer—it just needs to be gentler.

4. Follow A Routine

Help your kids (as well as yourself) follow a daily routine. Posting a detailed routine for the morning can also keep the family on track. 

Creating this predictability forms structure and stability for everyone. 

Create a schedule that can be followed before and after school. It can look something like this: Wake up, wash face, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, look over the day’s schedule, pack lunch and leave for school. 

Having a point-by-point task list should include all the things your kid needs to accomplish before heading out the door. 

A back to school routine checklist is especially important for that first week back. 

Picture schedules work wonders for the little ones or those that aren’t so good at reading yet.

Here’s an example of what a back to school routine might look like:

7.30 am: Kids get up and saying something they’re grateful for.

7.40 am: Kids wash their faces and get dressed.

7:50 am: Kids have breakfast.

8.15 am: Kids brush teeth

8.20 am: Kids pack their lunch in their bag and looks at books while you get ready to go.

8.25 am: Kids put on sunscreen. 

8.30 am: Leave for school

Every family will have their own way of doing things. Find what works for you and your family.

5. Be Positive

Positivity is infectious and a good mood can have a ripple effect.

As a parent, you can set the tone of the day so do your best to tackle the mornings as positively as you can. 

A great exercise to help foster this within the family is by sharing one thing that you’re each looking forward to during the day.

6. Clock It Up

Make the time as visible as possible by placing clocks all over the house. Place them in each kid’s room, the bathroom, the kitchen, the lounge and even the hallway — if they’re old enough they could even wear a watch. 

By doing this and making the time more apparent you will help teach them how to manage time and show your kids the value of being on time. 

A great way to help them learn is by providing them with manageable countdowns like: “At 7:50, I need you to be at the table eating breakfast.”

7. Do a “Captain’s-Check”

Get your kids to do a “Captain’s-Check” to make sure they’ve packed everything they need for school before leaving the house. 

The last thing you want is having to run back to school again to drop off an assignment or lunch that’s been forgotten.

8. Reward Your Kids

There’s nothing like a good old rewards system to encourage some good behaviour. 

When implementing this, first determine what the biggest negative contributing factors to the morning are. Then you can build a reward system around this. 

If your kid has hit their goal consecutively by the end of the week, a small reward is encouraged such as a trip out for ice cream, a book, or a treat.

You can also make it fun – for example, try this ‘Beat the buzzer’ game to encourage your child to be ready on time.

9. Get Up Early

It’s about working smarter, not harder! 

It’s normal for kids to sleep late over the school holidays. So when it comes to establishing a routine again, a back to school sleep schedule should be put into place towards the end of the holidays. 

Start to wake them up a bit earlier each day in the period leading up to back-to-school.

10. Communicate With Teachers

It’s really important to discuss any needs your child may have with teachers, especially if they may be starting at a new school or getting a different teacher after a school break. 

11. Ban The TV, Computer And Tablet

If you want to make the back to school routine easier on yourself as a parent, try banning any form of electronic entertainment including the TV, video games, computer or tablet during the morning rush.

It’s best to avoid letting your kids turn on any devices even if they’ve finished getting ready and have a bit of time to spare. 

The problem is that once they get stuck in it may be prove difficult to get them to shut down when asked.

12. The Clothes Predicament & Preparation

Whilst most schools have uniforms, there are a few that don’t (my little one’s included) — this can easily turn a happy morning into a right nightmare. 

Young kiddies and girls may find it especially difficult to decide what they should wear for the day.  

This hassle can be avoided by having your kids select the clothes they want to wear the evening before (including underwear and socks!)

The same applies to those that have to wear uniforms. Preparation the night before is KEY to avoiding morning mishaps.

13. Keep Breakfast Simple And Healthy

Make sure your kids start the day the right way with a nourishing breakfast. 

I also like to make sure they have their vitamins and we all have a glass of Forever’s magical Aloe Vera Gel.

14. Label Their School Supplies And Clothes

After a school break, you can build excitement about going back to school by getting new school supplies and labeling them — this also helps items not to get lost!

Get the kids involved in doing this with you. This is a great way to bond and have a chat with them about what they’re looking forward to or concerned about. 

15. Use A Back To School Checklist

Whether it’s the start of the school year, or the beginning of Term 3, having a back to school checklist will make your life and your kids’ so much easier. 

Create two lists — one for you as the parent and one for each of the kids.

Identify all the tasks that need to be done — uniforms, books, haircuts, shoes, etc. — and write these down, along with a timeline of when you want it done.

16. Stay Organised With A Designated School Space

Having a designated school space at home can help you and your kids to be more organised and manage the school routine much better. 

The school space or whatever other fun name your kids may want to call it, is the place where all school items are kept and/or returned to – school bags, lunch boxes, shoes, sporting goods, etc. 

Using a space like this can also help your kid develop their own self-management skills and promotes their success in adhering to their “Chart Tasks” by limiting the number of places they need to look for something they need for school.

Building a business while also raising kids is probably one of the biggest challenges you’ll face, yet it’s also the most rewarding. 

Your family becomes your greatest motivation and inspiration to make your dreams come true — at least this has been true for me. 

When I first started building my Forever business my kids were quite young and I had to learn via trial and error where certain shortfalls may occur, in either my biz or my family life. 

The more awareness we can bring to both our personal and professional lives the easier we can make things on ourselves. 

In this article, I will share with you the top tips that have helped me enormously as a mompreneur.

17 Tips To Help Make Building A Business And Raising Kids Easier

1.  Strike a Work/Life Balance

Striking a work life balance means planning how much time you are spending on your business versus how much time you are dedicating to your marriage, your children, and your extended family, friends, and other responsibilities.

It’s important to create a schedule so you can prioritize your life.

Make sure you put this schedule somewhere visible where you can see it often—like on a calendar. 

This will help you see exactly where you are spending your time and how you can best prioritize what is most important for the week ahead. 

There will be times when your business will need more of your time and attention, and your family and “me time” may need to take a back seat—especially when you’re in the initial stages of building your business. 

Oftentimes sacrifices need to be made but it’s important to see how best you can make up for the time that had to be spent grafting. 

As an example, when there are school holidays you could do something extra special during that time to make it up. 

2. Seek Reliable Childcare If Needed

With Forever, I’ve been fortunate enough to build a flexible business from home that I can run while caring for my children, but this certainly isn’t the case for everyone.

If you are raising children while working in a job that you can’t do around your children, work from home and/or your partner is unable to take on the responsibility of childrearing, it’s vital that you seek out reliable childcare.

First choice would be to try and choose someone who your kids are comfortable with such as a grandparent, aunt or uncle, or older cousin. 

This would help the transition as it would be family that they get to spend time with, but unfortunately, this isn’t always possible. 

The other option is to look at alternatives for childcare.

Initially, there will be that overwhelming feeling of guilt, so you have to remind yourself of the bigger picture and why doing this is important for you and your family. 

Having adequate childcare ensures that someone will always be there to pick up your kids from school and make them dinner until you or your partner get home and can take over. 

I suggest having at least four different childcare options ready for in case (partner, grandparents, babysitter, friends, etc), this will allow you to juggle the demands of both the business and your family.

3. Be Prepared to Work Whenever You Can

Being a mompreneur (entrepreneur who is a mom) means you have the flexibility to put your family first in your life. 

You have the freedom to push back work for the day so that you can attend your child’s sporting event or parent/teacher meeting.

However, this does mean that you will need to be prepared to catch up on that work whenever it is possible to do so.

Be prepared to work when possible so you can make your dreams a reality while making your family your priority—sometimes this may mean working between 6 pm and midnight. 

I would still not give up having this flexibility for anything!

4. Have a Realistic Timetable

Make sure you are being realistic with your time! Building your business is not going to happen overnight so you’ve got to get good at prioritizing your time.

Having a timetable will help you set goals and it will motivate and inspire you to work towards them before your due date for that specific goal arrives—that dream holiday isn’t going to come out of anywhere. 

Also, having your timetable visible to your entire family will not only help you remain accountable, but it also shows your family when you will be busy and creates an organized environment in the home.

5. Quality Parenting Time

Your kids need your time and attention in order to feel loved, plain and simple. It’s vital that they know you will be there for them when they need you.  

In order for kids to thrive and have their physical, mental and emotional needs met you have to create a structured and safe environment—this is absolutely essential. 

This means being there for them at mealtimes, asking them about their day, discussing any problems or concerns they may have, as well as making time for leisure.

We like to have one day a week where we do something fun together, this could be a movie or games night. 

It’s important to put the phones down and just focus on spending quality time together as a family.

6. Don’t Try Hide Your Kids

When it comes to building a business, it’s only natural for you to want your clients and employees to see you in a professional manner. 

But, that doesn’t mean you should ever feel like you need to hide your kids in the background. 

People want to deal with real people, not people who pretend that they have everything under control all the time. 

The more open you are with your clients/ associates about your family and how you balance the two, the more understanding they will be when, for example, a call is interrupted with your little one in the background excitedly shouting “mummy, mummy, I’ve made a poo.”

7. Learn How To Say No

The most empowering thing you can do for yourself is learning to say no! As a parent and an entrepreneur,  you are often going to feel pulled in every direction. 

As your business starts to grow, the number of people that want to talk with you (“grab coffee sometime “) will also grow exponentially. 

To keep your life manageable, getting good at saying that two-letter word is important – both within your professional and personal life.

8. Be Focused And Disciplined

As a business owner and parent, you have far more going on than the average person. 

To be able to manage it all, you will need to be very focused and disciplined with yourself.

So this means getting up when the 5 am alarm goes off in order to work out or get XYZ done. 

When you prioritize a task, you need to stick to it and hold yourself accountable.

9. Invest In Automation And Efficiency

The more systems and methods you can put in place that can be automated for efficiency will mean the more time you will have to spend on the more valuable work-based tasks and have quality time with the family.

10. Outsource As Much As Possible

We all know the feeling of that never-ending to-do list, the one that we can never seem to get on top of.

Now when you’re building a business and parenting this list is even more overwhelming and it can be easy to feel guilty if you take any moment to steal a bit of “me time” for yourself. 

That’s why it’s so crucial to outsource and delegate as many of your low-value tasks or things that don’t require your strengths. 

The last thing you want to experience is burnout because you think you have to “do it all”, believe me when I say it’s not worth it—your health is the number one priority, both mental and physical. 

11. Don’t Compare Yourself

It can be easy to compare your day one with someone else’s day two-hundred. 

Where you are is exactly where you need to be and you need to grow your business at a pace that is going to work well for you and your family.

12. Remember Why You Started Your Business In The First Place

It’s so important to have a clear vision of your dreams and goals you are working towards so that when times get tough you know why it’s all going to be worth it. 

Every day I remind myself how blessed I am to be able to have the flexibility to build my business around my family commitments. 

There is nothing sweeter than being able to be there for my kids. They are the very reason I am where I am today. 

13. Be Realistic With What You Can Achieve

You have to be realistic with what is humanly possible to achieve in a day—remember that sleep is vital, so don’t skimp on hours. 

Your business will grow at the pace that you can personally push it. Remember that you are in control and have all the power to adjust the speed. 

Don’t fall into the trap of setting yourself unrealistic objectives or expectations.

14. Prioritize Well-Being

One of the greatest things you can do for your well-being is adopt a mindfulness/ relaxation practice. 

It’s nothing new that life will feel like this perpetual demand on your time, and usually, the first thing to go is the priority of yourself. 

We all know the phrase “oooh there’s just too much to do, I don’t have the time,” all too well. 

Literally scheduling just 10-15 minutes a day for personal relaxation will benefit all areas of your life—your work, your kids, and your ability to get more done.  

15. Create Clear Boundaries And Honor Your Word

Create clear boundaries in both your personal and professional life. Especially when it comes to your time. 

Define when you’re available and when you’re not, and hold fast to those boundaries. Your kids need to learn this and it’s an important one for them to understand. 

They have to learn that when you’re not available, you aren’t (unless the house is on fire or flooding). 

But then, when it’s your kid’s time with you, you have to be fully present for them, not distracted and on your mobile.

16. Sensibly Involve Your Children

Kids love to get involved, especially when they know it’s something that’s going to help mum or dad. 

Thoughtfully include your kids in your business ventures, this will make them feel as though they are an important part of your team. 

And this way you also get to share in something together.

Consider their schedule and limit their time so that their participation carries the delight and not the burden of your business.

17. Stop Before You Step In The Door 

Whether or not you are working from home, it’s imperative that you take the time to recentre yourself before you “step in the door” to parent.

It’s one thing to put your phone and laptop away and it’s something completely different to intentionally prepare your mindset so that there is a clear change of role from entrepreneur to parent.

You want to make sure you are being fully present from dinner to bedtime, so do what you need to process or put away the work stuff.

That’s not to say that there haven’t been days where it’s been vastly challenging, but for me, having a flexible time schedule means more time with my kids and that is priceless!

1. Show Your Love Unconditionally

This may seem obvious, but it’s the most important. Your child needs to know that you love them no matter what. 

Whether they win or lose that sports match, get good grades or not, or even when you may be upset with them.

Unconditional love builds a strong foundation for a confident child.

The way our kids believe we see them has a profound impact on the way they see themselves. So the role we play here is extremely important. 

2. Provide Positive Feedback And Praise

Children need to receive praise and positive feedback — what you as a parent think has an impact on how they measure their worth and achievements. 

Don’t go and praise them for everything, be genuine with what you say. If they fail at something or struggle with a particular skill, praise the effort, but don’t be disingenuous with praising the results. 

Encourage them that it’s okay to not be able to do everything perfectly and that some things take time and practise. Or they can move on altogether if it’s not for them.

3. Help Them Set Goals

Self-confidence in kids will increase when you help them set realistic goals. When a child has a dream, you want to be able to support them in making it a possibility in whatever way you can, even if it may seem ridiculous to you. 

Getting them to share their goals, large and small, and helping them achieve them will help make them feel strong and capable. 

Turn their desires into actionable goals by encouraging them to make a list of things they’d like to achieve. Then, practise breaking down these longer-term goals into practical benchmarks.

The way your kids will love and speak to themselves will be based on how you love and speak to yourself.

Show them how they can use these experiences as lessons and talk about what steps they could possibly take next time. 

7. Instil Independence And Adventure

Kids who are confident will be excited to try new things without fearing that they may fail. 

A great way to do this for younger kids can be by baking or cooking together and giving them most of the responsibility while you supervise. 

Encourage your kids to try new things and go new places. Day trips and outings, new hobbies, holidays and trips with mates or schoolmates can all expand your kids’ horizons and build confidence in their ability to handle new situations.

8. Encourage Physical Activities And Sports

Movement is not only important because of the health benefits, but also because it can help kids learn to recognise their strengths and weaknesses (which they’ll accept or strengthen), manage defeat, expand their group of mates and learn how to work in a team.

This will also help them stay fit and learn to appreciate and value their bodies.

Encourage them to find a physical activity that they really enjoy, don’t push an activity on them because it’s what you want them to do.

Exploring their own interests can help kids develop a sense of identity, which is essential to building confidence. 

And as they see their talents grow, this will also give them a huge confidence and self-esteem boost 

Make sure as the parent you respect and encourage your child’s interests — even if it doesn’t necessarily interest you.

10. Think Before You Compliment

We know that kids need loads of encouragement, especially when they’re doing things for the first time like learning to walk or draw. 

It’s important to be very intentional with the praise we give, as children can get very used to hearing “well done” or “nice work” that they will then struggle to know when their accomplishments are really worth celebrating. 

Also, it’s not necessary to give praise when they do something they’re supposed to do like brushing their teeth or putting their clothes in the wash, just saying “thank you” is enough.

Try to offer specific feedback: Instead of saying that your kid’s drawing is beautiful, maybe point out their brilliant use of colours.

11. Let Them Make Age-Appropriate Decisions

Confidence in kids gets built when you allow them the chance to make choices from a young age. 

Let them make age-appropriate decisions like what to wear, what to eat for breakfast, what game to play or colour to use, where to go on an outing etc.

Encourage your kids to try new things. It’s healthy for kids to diversify instead of always focusing their energy on what they already know or do well at. 

Attaining new skills makes kids feel capable and confident that they can do whatever comes their way.

13. Practice Positive Self-Talk With Them

This is a good tip for us adults too!

Both adults and kids can so easily get caught up in the negative and damaging self-talk: “I can’t do this,” or, “I’m terrible at __________,” or, “What is wrong with me?”

Encourage your kids to problem-solve instead of always giving them the answer. 

Critical thinking is so useful especially in giving a child a sense of confidence to know they can work things out on their own.

First and foremost you are the parent, not a best friend. It’s important that you create structure and healthy boundaries for your kids. 

Learning and following rules give kids a feeling of safety and confidence. Every family and home will have different rules and these will change over time based on their age.

Boost confidence in kids by encouraging them to help others. The opportunity of helping others is something kids are naturally drawn to whether it’s helping mum in the kitchen or taking biscuits to an old age home.

As we already know, our kids model us, so it’s important to focus on improving your own confidence.

Start by making positive comments about yourself and others in your kid’s presence.

Joining in on your kid’s play or activity communicates that they are important to you and worth your time. 

Allow your kids to choose the activity, as well as lead it.

This gives them autonomy and when they see you engaged and enjoying the activity this will bring them joy and a sense of accomplishment. 

19. Don’t Get Upset About Mistakes

It’s important that kids know that everyone makes mistakes and it’s how they learn from them that really matters. 

People who are confident don’t let the setbacks or failures get them down, they move forward regardless taking in each lesson.  

20. Embrace Imperfection

Perfectionism is something many adults still battle with, that’s why it’s vital for us to teach our kids early on that it’s completely unrealistic. 

Help your kids to understand that what they see on TV, magazines, or on social media, is not always a real representation of how things really are.

The impression that others are always happy, successful, and perfectly dressed is a fantasy and an adverse one at that. 

Instead, remind them that as human’s we are imperfectly perfect and that’s enough. 

21. Encourage Them To Express Their Feelings

Encourage your kids to express their feelings — both positive and negative emotions — help them talk through these emotions and navigate them in a healthy way.

22. Address Them By Their Name

When looking at how to build confidence in kids, a simple way to communicate that they’re important is by addressing them by their name in a friendly way (especially with kind eye contact).

This is essential to making your kids feel valued and confident.

Make sure you set aside time for them where you can be 100% present. 

Kids know when you’re not completely there and your mind is elsewhere.

Put away any distractions like electronics and make sure they are getting your undivided attention.

24. Speak Positively To Others About Them And Let Them Overhear

Another easy way to boost your kid’s confidence is to inadvertently let them hear you sing their praises to others on their accomplishments or efforts.

This is a big no-no! Absolutely avoid comparing kids to their siblings, friends or classmates (basically anyone). 

Comparisons can be extremely detrimental and damaging on children and can cause them to doubt themselves, believe that they can’t please you or meet your expectations, and ultimately lose total confidence in who they are.

26. Surround Them With People Who Are Positive And Confident 

Like the old adage goes “you are the company you keep” could not be more true. 

You want to make sure that your kids are surrounded by people who are positive and confident as this will have an impact on them. 

It’s also important that these people are uplifting and encouraging so that they can add to the growth and vibrancy of their life. 

27. Ask Them For Their Advice Or Opinion

A powerful way to build confidence in kids is by asking them for their advice or opinions on situations that are age-appropriate for them

This shows them that even adults don’t always have all the answers and that it’s okay to ask for help when you need it.

This is such a beautiful way to express your admiration and appreciation for your kids’ accomplishments. 

Having a “Wall of Fame” can be an excellent tool for giving kids that confidence boost in moments of self-doubt. 

It could showcase anything from grades, drawings, trophies, certificates, art projects, photos of certain accomplishments etc. 

29. Show Them Physical Affection 

Physical touch and affection is a vital love language and is essential to making children feel joyful and confident. 

This could be anything from high fives, back pats, hair tousles, hugs, shoulder/ hand squeezes etc. to show that they are loved, cared and valued.

We are responsible for shaping the next generation. Confidence in kids is needed now more than ever, especially with how different the world now is that they are growing up in.

As parents, we need to do our best in how we help develop our kid’s confidence (as well as our own)! The way we see ourselves is how they see us too.

This is a question many in the industry or those who are looking to get started may be thinking during our current world circumstances. 

For some, this pandemic has brought people to their knees, while for others they have absolutely flourished. 

People have now realised that “job security” is merely an illusion we create for ourselves and that actually, it’s imperative to not have all your eggs in one basket.

This crazy time in the world has really forced people to think out the box, get creative and hustle even harder than ever before.  

In this article, I share how stable the future of network marketing is looking and how worrying about “job security” can become a thing of the past when you can create it for yourself.

A Brief History Of Direct Selling

In order for us to understand where the future of network marketing is going, we need to also look at where it started and how it’s evolved over the years. 

  • In 1886 – the MLM business model evolved within the USA during the year 1886 with the establishment of Avon.
  • In 1925 – the direct sales volume increased to around 300 to 500 million USD.
  • Between 1940 and 1960 – many companies emerged supporting the concept of multi-level marketing aka network marketing.
  • In 1970 – new products emerged and were focused on widening the MLM business. Product categories like wellness products, household products, food items started evolving to draw in potential consumers.
  • Between 1990 and 1996 – many major MLM companies like Avon, Amway, Tupperware extended their service to the global market in order to create a much larger customer base. Countries such as India, Korea, China saw the influx of MLM businesses.

The Future of the Network Marketing Industry

As we can see, network marketing continues to grow and evolve year on year. We can see this happening consistently with well-established companies like Forever Living (founded in 1978). 

None of us has a crystal ball, we can’t predict the future, but what we can look to is previous history and consumer culture. Pandemic or not, people still need to consume. 

We are living in a GIG economy. Decent jobs that come with decent benefits are few and far between. 

The majority of people nowadays want and need some extra income, over and above what they may be currently earning–resulting in just about everyone having a side hustle these days, including many professionals.

A network marketing business can make an excellent side hustle, I know, because it was mine before I went in full guns blazing.

However, once a person starts to see how easy making money can be and the benefits that come with being a part of an amazing team, you won’t want to just have it as your side hustle. 

You will also start to see the bigger picture of what this business can truly offer you, which is FREEDOM, both financially and in time (which is even more precious than how many bucks you have in the bank).

I truly believe this is not going anywhere and will continue to grow and evolve to even bigger and newer heights. 

Instead of my business slowing down during the pandemic, it continued to grow — why?

In order to know which channels to use and what content to create you have to first determine your business objectives i.e what do you want your social media marketing to achieve? 

Take some time to write out a list of everything you want to achieve out of your social media marketing, and then prioritise them in terms of value for your business.

Step 2: Outline Your Audience

Now that you know why you’re using social media, it’s important to also get clear on who you’re trying to reach. This will help to give you a better understanding of which social channels will be most effective for your objectives.

For example, your target audience may be women aged 30 – 60 which means you may use Facebook to engage with them more instead of using a platform like TikTok. 

Outline your audience demographic in as much detail as possible: age, gender, location, hobbies, interests, challenges they face, where they hang out, what brands they like etc. 

By determining these characteristics you will be able to make sure you use the most suited social platform to reach them on! You will also be catering your content to best reach your objectives!

  • What kind of content they publish
  • How much average engagement they get
  • What hashtags they use

Your brand guidelines should comprise of all details regarding your brand activity on social media. It should also be clear and accessible to anyone who is on your team with access to your social accounts.

By outlining these details in the very beginning of your social media marketing strategy you will have a clearly defined and recognisable brand identity on social media.  

This will ensure your team is on the same page and that you stay consistent with your brand persona. 

Below are some suggestions you may want to consider including in your social media marketing brand guidelines:

  • Brand voice
  • What kind of tone/language do you use? Is it the same on every platform?
  • What kind of emojis do you use?
  • Brand colours and elements

  • How formally/informally do you want to be perceived?

  • Protocol on interacting with your audience: Who is responsible for replying to comments and messages? 
  • Banned words/topics: There are some things you never want your brand to talk about on social media – even if it’s obvious to you, avoid any potential faux pas by outlining them in the guidelines.

Your guidelines are what will help your audience to feel a familiarity with you and your brand and this cultivates loyalty—so make sure you stay consistent across your social networks.

This is the fun and creative part, where everything comes together. This is where you will decide what type of content will best for attaining your objectives on each social platform. 

This usually involves a mixture of the below formats:  

  • Photos
  • Videos
  • Graphics
  • Articles
  • Livestreams
  • Stories

Your audience and competitor analysis would of helped you identify some of what will work for your industry. 

Really think about your target audience and get to the core of what truly matters to them and what they’re most inclined to respond to.

A great way to stay on top of all your content, especially if you’re using multiple channels is by using a content calendar. 

This also allows you to see how frequently you are publishing and ensure posting consistency.

Using a content calendar, you can plan ahead for big events, milestones or brand announcements. 

You can use a platform that offers this or create your own one in excel. 

Step 7: Schedule Social Media Content

The best way to stay efficient and save hours of time is by scheduling your social media content. 

Using an automated management and scheduling tool like Hootsuite, Sprout Social or Hopper HQ, allows you to bulk upload your photos, videos and text posts for some of the main social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn — and set them to be published in the weeks ahead!

A Simple Guide On Forming New Habits For A Happy and Healthy Life


Forming new habits means kicking old habits and this can be a sticky area for some. The easiest part is often starting, but following through is the real test. 

When you can get good at forming new habits for yourself, you are taking a leap into your own self-empowerment and this is a brilliant skill to have, especially as a business owner. 

When wanting to cultivate new habits, it may seem daunting at first, but really all you need to do is start small. 

In this article, I’ve put together an easy guide that provides simple steps and tips on how you can begin to form new habits today for a happy and healthy life!

8 Easy Steps To Forming New Habits

Step 1: Focus on One New Habit At A Time

This may seem like a pretty obvious one, but in the chaotic world we live in today it seems normal for people to be juggling multiple things at a time. 

I don’t suggest doing this when aiming to form new habits. By spreading yourself too thin and trying to implement too many new habits at the same time you will likely find yourself unsuccessful. 

The key is to focus on one new habit at a time so your energy is specifically channelled to one thing and not easily depleted. 

Ask yourself: 

“What one new habit do I want to form?”

You want to identify a habit that you can do all the time — on a daily basis — something that can fit into your life relatively easily even when you may not feel like it. 

Step 2: Be Consistent & Commit for At Least 30 Days

So apparently the whole premise of it taking 21 days to form a habit is actually a myth

Ultimately, the time will vary from person to person and habit to habit.

It may take one person longer than another to build a habit, and you’ll find that some habits are easier to develop while others will require more effort. 

Work on an average of about 66 days to establish your new behaviour as automatic.

Commit to at least 30 days whereby during this time your whole life should be structured around a dedicated time every day to doing it consistently. 

Step 3: Use An Established Habit To Anchor Your New Habit Onto

A habit should be something you can easily establish into your life.

It shouldn’t be something that requires extreme motivation or short-lived desire. Instead, it should be ingrained into your life to the point where it becomes habitual. 

It’s just about being able to commit to something daily, forever. 

By using the concept of the habit loop you’ll be able to form long-lasting habits. 

A brilliant example of this comes from B.J. Fogg and his “Tiny Habits” concept. 

He explains that what you want to do is to commit to a very small habit change and take baby steps as you build on it. 

A key aspect of his teaching is to “anchor” the new habit to something you already do on a daily basis.

“After I wake up in the morning and have my morning pee, I will list 5 things I’m grateful for.”

“After brushing my teeth at night, I will spend 10min reading.”

“After I drop off the kids at school, I will go to my yoga class.”

All that’s needed is to find a habit you already consistently do and then anchor it with new behaviour.

Step 4: Take Baby Steps

When committing to forming new habits it’s important to not rely on motivation alone because the problem is that if you, then there’s no alternative for when you’re not in the mood. 

The only real way to make a habit stick is by turning it into an automatic behaviour. This can be done by taking baby steps and forming a low level of commitment. 

This basically means creating a micro-commitment where it’s less likely to fail. Daily consistency and not missing a day is more important than hitting a specific milestone. 

By having a low level of commitment, you’ll be more likely to get started and stay on course.

Examples of micro-commitments include:

Walking for just 5 minutes a day.

Reading for just 10 minutes a day.

Drinking a cup of lemon water after you wake up. 

Taking your vitamins after breakfast.

Making three calls to a prospective person or customer for your business a day.

Waking up each morning 10 minutes earlier.

When forming new habits the key is to make micro-commitments, focusing on baby steps and small wins. 

These actions may seem overly simplistic but that is where the power lies!

Step 5: Be Prepared For Obstacles & Excuses 

When cultivating new habits, now that there will be obstacles and you may find yourself wanting to make excuses. 

When you can foresee in advance what your obstacles will likely be, you’ll then be able to prepare for how you’ll overcome them. 

Examples of common obstacles:

Time

Pain

Weather

Space

Costs

Self-consciousness

Lack of sleep 

A good way to combat an obstacle is by using “If-Then” statements. 

These could look like: 

“If I check the weather and it’s raining, then I will run at the gym instead.”

“If I don’t make all my calls to new prospects today, then I will make them us tomorrow.”

“If I get too busy and miss my yoga/ gym class, I will do the workout at home instead.”

Step 6: Be Accountable When Forming New Habits

Creating accountability for your habit is essential as this will help you stick with your new routine. 

You can do this by tracking your actions and making public declarations about your newfound habit. 

According to the lessons learned from the Hawthorne effect, you’re more likely to follow through with a commitment when you’re being observed by others. 

So to help you keep up with your new routine, let others know about your efforts and goals.

You can do this by: 

  • Posting updates on social media accounts 
  • Using apps for tracking progress
  • Work with an accountability partner
  • Be a part of an online community related to the habit where you can post about your progress

Social approval is brilliant for holding you accountable and making sure you stay focused and consistent as you build your new habit.

Step 7: Reward Yourself 

Make cultivating a new habit fun.

Build a reward system into the experience so you consciously take the time to celebrate the achievement of your goals no matter how small they may seem. 

The reward can be anything you desire as long it’s something you love and within a healthy boundary. 

Having a defined reward for repeatedly completing an action will undoubtedly keep you on the straight and narrow for your new routine. 

Step 8: Develop a New Identity

So committing to a new habit and being consistent is only the first part.

The second and most important piece to forming a new habit is making it a part of your core identity. 

It’s here where you’ll be able to do it without the need for constant reinforcement. 

James Clear, the author of “Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones” talks about something he calls Identity-Based Habits

He explains that in order to change your behaviour for good, you would need to start believing new things about yourself. 

So instead of you just doing something habitually for the sake of wanting to do it, it’s the type of person you identify with that will complete this action daily. 

Eventually, your internal identity will match this daily routine as you start forming new habits.

Tips On How To Form Healthy Habits That Stick

1.

It Has To Be Daily – Consistency is the name of the game if you want to make a habit stick. Make sure this new habit is something you can realistically do every day. Activities that you can only do every few days are a lot harder to implement as habits.

2.

Start Simple – Slow and steady wins the race. It can be easy to get overly excited and motivated and take on too much when forming new habits. This then results in disappointment when you’re unable to keep up. Start simply and then build on from that. 

3.

Have Reminders – When forming your new habit, it can be easy to forget. So to avoid missing a day, place reminders around your house or on your phone and laptop that will prompt you to complete your habit each day.

4.

Have An Accountability Partner – Find someone who will either go on the journey with you or someone you can be accountable to and will keep you motivated if you ever feel like giving up.

5.

Replace Lost Needs – If you are giving up something in your habit, make sure you are sufficiently replacing any needs lost. If sleeping later makes you think you’re more alert during the day, try taking a nap or meditating during the day to make up for it.

Be Imperfectly Perfect – Don’t expect to be perfect when you begin forming a new habit. It’s okay to have a few setbacks and start again. Focus on your intention over perfectionism.

Remove Any And All Temptation – Prepare your environment so you will be less tempted to veer off course when forming your new habit. Remove any junk food or alcohol from your house, toss out the cigarettes, prepare your workspace etc.

Find A Role Model – Spend time with people who model the habits you want to mirror. Your environment and who you surround yourself with impacts who you become.

Understand the Benefits – Get clear with what the benefits are to making this change

Know the Pain – On the opposite side to the above, you should also be aware of the consequences. Knowing what the downside would be to not following through on your new habit will give you added motivation — for example not exercising.

Do it For Yourself – You have to be forming this new habit for yourself and no one else otherwise it will never stick long term. Get very clear on your intentions around why you want to implement this new habit into your life and how it aligns with your goals.
