16 Tips On How To Stay Motivated During Lockdown


Learning how to stay motivated during lockdown has been a dance we’ve all had to become familiar with. 

None of us could have foreseen how this year was going to go, let alone having two lockdowns! 

When we had the first one I experienced a major dip in my motivation, which I’m sure was the case for many. 

There’s a couple of key things I found to really help keep the motivation game strong, so when we entered this second lockdown I felt more prepared for it. 

With that said, I’m quite ready for some resemblance of a normal life to carry on again and for us to leave this crazy year behind.

Here are 16 tips on how to stay motivated when in lockdown (or for life in general). 

 

1. Celebrate The Little Things And Focus On The Positives In Your Life 

Do you find you look at your phone first thing as you wake up and maybe scroll through social media or the news? 

I used to do this often, but since COVID hit I have found it so beneficial to not look at my phone for at least 30 minutes after waking and to limit my news intake. 

And when I do happen to look at some news, I make an effort to focus on some of the positive stories of recovery etc. 

By doing this I’m able to really feel more optimistic and gratitude during my day. 

I also make a conscious effort to celebrate small things throughout my day, for me, this could be my little one Pheebs creating a piece of art or someone from my team signing up a new Forever Business Owner. 

2. Routine Is Key

I could not emphasise this point enough.

Regardless of you not having to actually leave your house, make sure you keep your daily routine going (or start one if you didn’t have one before!)

As tempting as it may be to work from bed, rather reserve these days for when you really need it, otherwise you’ll find yourself not being as productive as what you could be. 

Get up at the same time you usually would (maybe even earlier) and get your day going with exercise or stretching and any other self-care activities you like to do before you start work or dealing with the kids. 

Because I already worked from home, not much changed on that front for me during lockdown.

However, when I first starting working from home after corporate, there were huge adjustments I had to get used to. Cultivating a strong daily routine can make this transition a lot easier.

3. Find The Ideal Workplace

How to stay motivated to work you ask? I find having an ideal workplace is the best solution to this.

As I mentioned above working from bed can seem novel at first but you’ll find that you’re way more productive and motivated when you have a dedicated work station to plonk yourself at. 

If this means investing in a little desk and good quality chair to sit at — do it!

Not only will your posture thank you, but you will feel so much more inspired to get stuff done. 

I love to work somewhere where there is good natural light. I also like to decorate my desk with plants and pictures of my family, as well as quotes that motivate me.

4. Move Your Body

This one ties in with having a routine. Make sure you move your body in some way, shape or form. The worst thing you can do (especially in a lockdown) is become stagnant. 

There are so many fitness apps to choose from now, that working out at home has never been easier.

5. Embrace Your Emotions

We are living in unprecedented times, it’s okay to not feel okay. If there’s one thing I learnt from this year it’s that we have to just embrace our emotions and not bottle them up or numb them out. 

Be vulnerable, share how you’re feeling, speak openly about what’s on your heart with your family and invite them to share too. 

By doing this you allow yourself to truly feel and acknowledge your emotions and by sharing you will see how others are likely feeling the same as you.

6. Stay Connected With Your Loved Ones

Often when life can feel too much it’s easy to retreat inward and not want to engage much, but the best thing you can do is stay connected with family and friends. 

In a time that has made us feel disconnected through social distancing, it’s up to us to make an effort to keep those connections strong. 

Just a simple text saying “How are you? Thinking of you” can really make someone’s day.

7. Look After Your Mental Health

As important as it is to look after your physical body it’s just as imperative to look after your mental health. 

Spend time in nature, so if you have a garden at home do some gardening or just walk barefoot on the grass. Even just sitting in the sun for 15 minutes can do wonders for your soul. 

8. Find A Purpose During This Time

For many, this year felt like being dropped in a forest with no clear direction of which way to get out. 

One thing that this year has given all of us is perspective.

Use this pandemic and extra time to really discover what it is you love and are passionate about. 

You can do this by trying out many different things to get a feel for what resonates with you. 

For me, it’s helping people and this is what I get to do by building a Forever Living business.

I’ve witnessed so many women create so much from nothing and live out their dreams they never initially thought would be possible — other than my family — this is my WHY and motivation that drives me.

9. Set Small, Realistic Goals That You Can Reach Daily and Weekly

Having big goals is important but it would be impossible to reach those if you don’t first start with the steps (smaller goals) to get there. 

Tony Robbins, one of the world’s most well-known motivational speakers and personal development coaches, says: “A major source of stress in our lives comes from the feeling that we have an impossible number of things to do. If you take on a project and try to do the whole thing all at once, you’re going to be overwhelmed.” 

And the best way to combat these feelings of overwhelm is with a concept called “chunking”. This is when you break down each goal into the smallest realistic steps and do only one of them at a time. 

Neuroscience shows us that each small success triggers the brain’s reward centre, releasing feel-good chemical dopamine. This helps focus our concentration and inspires us to take another similar step.

10. Less Is More

I have found that one of the best ways to get myself feeling motivated and productive is by clearing out my house. Chuck out anything that you no longer need. 

In the words of Marie Kondo, if it doesn’t bring you joy, get rid of it. By cleaning your house you can clean your mind!

Lockdown gave me some time to do this and I’m so grateful because it helped me get so much more organised.

Don’t wait for a lockdown to get this done, just start today!

11. Take This Time To Discover Yourself

What do you enjoy most? What have you always wanted to try or what hobbies did you love doing but stopped due to life getting in the way?  

If there’s one thing that this pandemic has given us, it’s time and lots of it. The excuse of not having time has literally flown out the window.

Bring out the paints or pottery clay, build something with your hands or put that jigsaw puzzle together. 

There really has been no better time than now to discover what you like and what brings you joy. 

12. Switch Off

Take some time to properly switch off and do a digital detox. It’s so easy to get caught up in social media and I have often found myself consumed by all the differing opinions about things. 

When I can tune out from all the noise I am finally able to hear my own thoughts and come back and refocus on what’s really important in my life. 

13. Personal Development Through Reading, Videos And Podcasts

Life would be pretty meaningless if we stayed the same and never made any effort to evolve.

Spending time on your own self-development is probably one of the best things you could be doing for yourself right now. 

Read books, listen to podcasts or watch YouTube videos that can expand you and give you more perspective and knowledge on life.

This can be a great way to support yourself, your family and even your business, especially through hard times. 

14. Stay Present 

It’s so easy to live in the past or in the future, but all that we can be completely certain of is this very moment right now. 

The best way to stay present is to invite more mindfulness into your day.

As an example, when you’re reading a book to your little one, make sure you’re not thinking about a million other things, really practise full focused presence when you’re with them. 

15. Plan And Set Your Priorities

Learning how to stay motivated working from home can be tricky if you’re not prepared. Working from home has its advantages, but there can be some downsides too. 

Spend some time at the beginning of the day or the evening before to plan your day and with exactly what you’re going to do and set the priorities of the tasks.

As important as it is to set your tasks for the day, it’s equally as important to make sure you end at a reasonable hour.

It’s easy to just keep on working when you’re already at home, but it’s important to have that work life balance.

16. Visualise The Big Picture

Firstly, keep your eye on your WHY and then one step outside of that remember to see the bigger picture always. 

Sometimes we can take life too seriously, remember what’s truly important and have fun!

The Dalai Lama puts life into perspective so perfectly. 

When asked what surprised him most about humanity, he answered, “Man.” 

Why?

“Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

This is hugely beneficial for those in network marketing.

People still have to shop and now they are more inclined than ever to do it online!

One of the top reasons for owning your own business is that it leads to financial freedom.

7 Business Motivation Tips For A Booming Network Marketing Business


When it comes to my own business motivation and pushing onwards despite the challenges that inevitably arise, I can honestly say that without the hardships (and my kids driving me all the way) I wouldn’t be where I am today!

After all, we learn the most about ourselves when we’re placed in uncomfortable positions —  this is where the most growth happens. 

Building a successful network marketing business — or any business for that matter — requires a definite amount of dedication and gumption, a lot of hard work and pure, unadulterated motivation to keep on keeping on no matter what.

In this article, I’m going to explain why motivation is important in business and share 7 business motivation tips from my personal experience for those of you who are struggling to see the light.

Why is Motivation Important in Business?  

When first starting a network marketing business, motivation is especially high, but the trickiest thing for one to master is how to stay motivated consistently.

Consistency is what produces results!

Let’s face facts, you are going to have your off days (yes, plural).

If everything in life were easy we’d never be able to fully appreciate coming full circle and the journey of our mental metal being tempered in the furnace of life.

Growing your own business means that you are directly responsible for its success and how you pick yourself up when you fall — motivation plays a massive part in moving through both sides of the spectrum.

Without the necessary motivation to keep the wheels turning most businesses would probably fail. 

Motivation is what helps you get up in the morning when you’d rather hit the snooze button again. 

Motivation is what helps you become a better leader for your team and keep them going when their inner fires begin waning.

Motivation is what helps you overcome setbacks (hello 2020, I’m talking to you) so that you can take back control of your financial destiny. 

It is easy to be motivated when you’re just getting going, but staying highly motivated takes practice.

Find someone who you can have candid conversations with about your business and what it takes to be successful.

2. Set Goals & Accomplish Them

So I’ve already written about goal setting before, but if one’s mentor is there as the guiding compass to help them grow professionally, then setting and achieving goals are like the locations on the map where the treasures are buried — and that need to be sought out.

Goals have a way of keeping you motivated to continue working towards ‘your something’ and I’ve found that the trick is to think or dream big, but to start small.

When you break up bigger goals into smaller, more easily achievable wins, it’s a lot less likely that you’ll end up feeling like you’re getting nowhere with your network marketing business.

That being said, goals are only as achievable as the plan you have to get you to where you need to be.

On the business motivation/planning side of things, it is also advisable to invest in some sort of a network marketing planner to write down your weekly goals, to visualize them and to take the necessary steps to plan and action everything that you want to accomplish.

Focus on measuring where you are each day/week and what needs to happen in order to be taking steps in the right direction so you can get closer to the treasure waiting to be unearthed on your map.

3. Tap Into Sources of Inspiration

We all need a little pick me up now and again when things get tough, and personally I like to remind myself to stay strong by going over some inspirational network marketing quotes from the greats in the business.

In fact, I save these quotes to my phone to go over at any moment, to save a particularly pertinent one as my wallpaper for the week and even have some framed at home.

When it comes to business motivation, being ever present in sight is more conducive to being ever present in mind.  

Words are such a powerful motivating force (see #4 below) and they are the seed that is planted before persistent action waters them to blossom.
Of course, there are many mediums available today that you can consume such as network marketing podcasts, YouTube videos and my personal favourite, a good thought-provoking book!

4.  Learn To Read, Read To Learn

It is no surprise that some of the world’s greatest leaders such as Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and Tony Robbins attribute having a voracious reading appetite to their success.

It is simply not possible to know anything without acquiring knowledge and the perspective that it brings — at least while we wait for the day that we’re able to download everything to our brains within seconds (The Matrix, anyone?).

The benefits of reading are widely documented and perhaps the best part of it is the purpose that it serves for motivating you to level up as a human being. 

Self-help and development books are among the biggest sellers of any book category for a reason.

There is no better feeling (other than some cheeky glasses of wine after a long day/week) than that ‘aha’ moment you get when something just clicks in your head from what you’ve read. 

Or resonating completely with someone’s journey and challenges and what they did to overcome them and the fire that it lights under you to act.

Or implementing strategies learned from stellar network marketing books that work wonders in growing your business. 

Learning to enjoy reading as part of your personal growth process is also a huge motivating factor when it comes to expanding your business — much like the next tip below!

5. Make More Meaningful Connections
With Motivated People 

This business motivation tip is especially poignant as we are social creatures that crave the everyday interactions that make our lives and careers more meaningful.

Honestly, it is the best thing to be able to do what I do with the people I do it with — birds of a feather flock together and all that goodness!

It’s so much easier for you to stay motivated when you surround yourself and share experiences with other people that are equally (if not more) motivated than you are.

Not only do you get to learn from each other about the innate qualities (see #6 below) embedded in our DNA that makes us such powerful beings, but you also get to make and cultivate some awesome friendships along the way to keep you focused when you’re down and out. 

The social aspect of networking aside, putting yourself out there and actively seeking out like-minded individuals is an unbelievably important skill to have when it comes to network marketing recruiting.

I mean, it isn’t called ‘network’ marketing for nothing.

Having the ability to build teams that align with your mission and are leaders in their own right with the ability to inspire those around them consistently is what dream teams are made of!

6. Tap Into Your Own Innate Motivation

So far, a lot of the tips I’ve mentioned are only accessible through external sources, but when it comes to the truly magical stuff it is more about one’s ability to go within to push yourself over the line.

Naturally, this comes a lot easier to some than it does to others, but like with anything in life that we have some measure of control over, firing or psyching yourself up is a skill that can be sharpened and harnessed when you need that extra kick. 

To this end, I usually turn to practicing an attitude of gratitude every morning when I wake up to set the tone for my day/every evening before I go to bed to help put things into perspective when I’ve had an off day.

Realizing that there is so much to be grateful for serves as a constant reminder that you’ve already come so far and that ultimately you are in control of your own happiness and success.

Every day is a new beginning and an opportunity to make a difference in your life. 

Following a home fitness routine is another activity that gives me a motivational boost on a cellular level that I can conjure up on my own steam when I need it most — also very helpful to keep me honest when I’ve indulged a fair bit;)

7. Take Some Much Needed ‘You’ Time 

As a full-time working mum myself, learning how to find a work life balance is absolutely essential when it comes to being (and staying) motivated to build a business.

Things can get overwhelming pretty quickly when you’re juggling many different things at once, so it’s important to schedule some time to yourself every single week.

With network marketing, luckily, the flexibility and nature of the business affords us the luxury of better time management in spades — the frequent paid holiday trips around the world don’t hurt either (can’t wait for things to open up again!)  

The trick with this is being able to switch off when you need to as we can’t always be in business building mode. 

If you are unable to do this you’ll end up resenting your work and forgetting why you started down this path in the first place.

The network marketing success that you’re working so hard for shouldn’t be forged from something that has overtaken your life, but by something that enriches it.

Taking a much-needed break or shorter, more regular timeouts will help you to recharge your batteries to come back stronger, more determined and motivated than ever.

Good Parenting Tips For Improving Your Parenting Skills


Taking in good parenting tips can be essential to your growth and expansion as an ever-evolving parent. 

When it comes to kids, you can never know it all and that’s the journey of being a parent, as well as being human. 

Raising kids is possibly the hardest and most intense responsibility you will ever have.

This role is no walk in the park, yet it’s the most rewarding thing you’ll ever do. 

I have the joy of being a mother to two incredible teenagers, as well as one very bubbly toddler—they are my greatest teachers whom I learn so much from every single day. 

With my experience as a mum over the years as well as becoming a mum to a little one again later in life I felt called to share some of my top parenting tips that have really helped me.

Both parent and child are on a journey of discovery together, but it’s up to us as the parents to fully hold space with as much love, integrity and respect as possible so that we may give them that space to grow.

10 Parenting Tips For New Mothers

Below are some beautiful pointers I wish I had been told when I first became a mum. 

1. Trust Yourself 

You can read all the parenting books in the world and watch numerous YouTube videos, but at the end of the day your inner knowing knows best and you have to learn how to trust your gut. 

No matter how prepared I thought I was I was still never prepared enough.

Sometimes you just have to wing it and trust that you’ve got this.  

2. It’s Okay To Have No Cooking Clue About What You’re Doing

Every new parent feels this way regardless of how much they may have prepared beforehand (refer to above point).

Honestly, nothing can truly prepare you for what a new baby brings.

It’s pretty mind-boggling how something so small and precious can make you feel utterly incompetent. 

So just to reiterate, it’s normal to feel this way, in fact, you would be superhuman if you didn’t. 

3. Get As Much Sleep As Possible 

Exhaustion can be the pin that pops your new parent bliss bubble, so make sure you take every chance you get to rest and get some sleep.

I know this can seem easier said than done when you’re a new mum, but just make a plan to prioritise this so that you can ultimately be a better caregiver for your new baby. 

Lack of sleep has a way of making things feel so much harder than they usually would be, so let your head hit that pillow at every possible opportunity. 

Having my own business definitely allowed me to get more sleep when I had Phoebe and for this I am so grateful.

This kind of flexibility is truly priceless when you’re a parent.

4. Be Kind To Yourself 

This is not a time to be judgemental of yourself, trust that you are doing your absolute best and that that really is enough. 

The more supportive and gentle you can be with yourself during this process the greater satisfaction and happiness you will experience. 

5. Remember That It Will Get Easier Over Time

The first few months are the hardest, but once you find your groove things will start to flow and become more natural. 

As the old adage goes, “nothing lasts forever”, so just keep reminding yourself that.

6. Don’t Compare Yourself To Other Parents 

We all do things differently.

What may have worked for your sister, friend, mum or even next-door neighbour may not work for you and that’s okay!

Everyone will have an opinion on how you should do things, you can listen to these tips or ignore them completely—either is perfectly alright. 

It’s also so easy to get caught in the trap of thinking other parents have it more together than you do, but the truth is you only see a snippet of the full picture.

7. Try To Keep Your Sense Of Humour In Tact

There is no such thing as perfect.

So learn to let go and have fun when you can.

Parenting doesn’t always have to be so intense, especially when you’re a new parent. 

Vomit on your clothes, laugh.

Poop on your hand, laugh.

Laughter really is the best medicine and has the power to lift your spirits during more difficult times. 

8. Appreciate This Time As Much As Possible

It’s easy to roll your eyes when people say this, but it’s so true!

This is a once in a lifetime experience you will only go through with this little baba (every baby will be different). 

So regardless of how exhausted, you may feel, enjoy this time for what it is because it will zoom past and be over before you know it. 

9. Be Flexible 

You can always plan to do things a certain way and then things just don’t go that way, be flexible to this and don’t get too caught up and attached to specific outcomes. 

Parenting is all about flexibility and letting go of our perpetual need to have to always control everything.

10. Accept Help

When you become new parents you can sometimes feel like you have to handle it on your own otherwise you’re not good parents who seem incapable, but really this couldn’t be farther from the truth. 

Having a new baby is incredibly overwhelming and so if you’re able to have help from grandparents or any family members take it! 

Even consider hiring help if your budget allows.

This will honestly be the biggest blessing for you and give you some space so you can show up fully as a parent.

Top 9 Parenting Tips For All Parents (New And Seasoned)

1. Be A Good Role Model

This is a big one.

Our children model everything they do off of us so it’s important that we walk the talk, not just talk the talk as they say. 

It’s not enough to just tell your children what you want them to do, you have to show them.

Our children watch everything we do, they are like little sponges absorbing everything constantly. 

Be the person you want your child to be—show them love and respect, be a positive influence towards them with a good attitude and always have empathy towards their emotions.

Do this and they will (hopefully) do this too.

2. Love Them And Show Them Through Action

Similar to my point above, it’s not enough to just tell your child you love them, you have to show them too. 

Never ever withhold love from a child, especially if you’re doing it in a way of trying to teach them a lesson about something. 

Give them plenty of hugs (physical touch is an important love language), spend quality time with them and listen to what’s on their hearts every single day (make a concerted effort to ask them how they are doing). 

I also find doing an activity specific to what each child most enjoys is a good way to bond with them.

Phoebe and I will read together, while Rosie and I will go shopping and Will and I will watch movies together.

3. Don’t Compare Siblings…Ever. 

If a child thinks his or her brother or sister is favoured, it can create a rivalry that may last the rest of their lives and cause problems in your family.

Make sure your kids know that they are loved equally.

Be careful with what you say — ”why can’t you be more like your sister regarding XYZ.”

Over time this can be so damaging and doesn’t help with solidifying a strong relationship between siblings. 

Each child is uniquely individual and should be treated as such, what one might be really good at does not necessarily mean the other will be good at it too and that’s completely okay. 

4. Be A Safe Haven For Your Child

This is something I’ve made an effort with my kids on, making sure they know that I am always there for them no matter what. 

I encourage them to share everything with me, even if they think it may upset me, I would rather know so I can support them fully.

I have promised to always hear them out first before just jumping to conclusions or getting angry. 

Children raised by parents who are consistently responsive tend to have better emotional regulation development, social skills development, and mental health outcomes.

5. Make Communication a Priority

There is nothing worse than telling your child to do something because you “say so.”

I remember how this would drive me dilly hearing this as a child. 

I make an effort to provide explanations and discuss anything they want clarity on.

They want and deserve explanations as much as adults do.

If we don’t take time to explain, kids will begin to question our values and motives and whether they have any basis.

When you reason with them, you are allowing them space to understand and learn in a nonjudgmental way.

Be very clear with your expectations — if there’s an issue, describe it, express your feelings, and invite your child to work on a solution with you.

Make sure to include consequences and offer choices.

Be open to your child’s suggestions as well. Negotiate with them, it’s important to listen to what they have to say.

Kids who participate in decisions are more motivated to carry them out.

6. Reflect On Your Own Childhood

I found it to be super helpful for me to think about my own childhood and what I liked and didn’t like about my upbringing. 

You’ll find that there’s often some aspects you would change. Make note of things you’d like to change and think of how you’d do it differently in a real scenario.

Try to be mindful and make an effort to change your behaviour the next time those issues come up.

This may not go so well the first time but don’t give up. It takes doing something over and over again to consciously change one’s child upbringing methods.

7. Pay Attention To Your Own Well-being

You can’t pour from an empty cup, so making time for yourself has to also be a priority (as hard as that is to make time for). 

I find that I am a much better mum when I have had my time to workout or do something for myself that day, even if it was only for 5 minutes. 

It can be so easy to put your health or the health of your marriage on the back burner when you have kids, but this is the last thing that should happen.

How you take care of yourself physically and mentally will make the biggest difference in your parenting. If these two areas fail, your child will suffer, too.

8. Boost Your Child’s Self-Esteem

As I mentioned earlier, children are like sponges, your words and actions as a parent affect their developing self-esteem more than anything else.

Praising achievements, however small or big, will make them feel proud; letting them do things independently will make them feel capable and strong. 

Belittling comments or comparing a child negatively with another will make them feel worthless.

Avoid making any loaded statements or using words as weapons.

Comments like “What a stupid thing to do!” causes immense damage just as physical blows do.

Your word is your wand, so choose them carefully and be kind.

It’s important to let your children know that everyone makes mistakes and that no matter what you will still love them, even when you don’t love their behaviour.

9. Make Time for Your Kids

Quality time is a big one in our household. We make sure that we sit down to eat most meals together and we often have one night a week where we do something special together. 

If you have a busy schedule as I do, allocate this time in your calendar so that you never miss a day. 

With my teens, I find attending concerts, games, and other events with them shows that I care and lets me get to know more about them and their friends in important ways.

You’ll find that kids may start to act out or misbehave if they feel they’re getting enough attention from you.

We’re All Learning Together

Being a parent really is a never-ending journey of discovery, both of yourself and your children.  

It’s okay to make mistakes and then learn from them.

This is a continuous process of unlearning and learning so we can be better for our children which will allow them to be better for theirs.

How To Find Quality Home Childcare For Your Children


Home childcare is a useful service that helps the lives of many parents everywhere. However, the biggest challenge is finding quality home childcare that you can truly rely on and trust. 

Before I had my business, the only help I had was dropping the kids off at their grandparents.

When my now two teenage kids had just started school I was able to hire an Aupair and when my third youngest came along I hired a housekeeper who also doubled as home childcare help. 

This is a process I’ve been through before and I felt called to share some helpful insight in this article in the hope that it can make this process easier for you when you’re looking for someone to help lighten the load!

What is Home Childcare?

If you’re not already familiar with what it is, home childcare, also known as family or home daycare, is an arrangement whereby you pay a childcare provider to take care of your child in your home on a regular ongoing basis. 

You may find that some home childcare providers have received training and some are licensed, but many are also not. 

Most commonly you’d be able to find home childcare providers through word of mouth, on bulletin boards or flyers in and around your community or neighbourhood, or online. 

When considering which options to go with there are many variables to mull over and some safety issues to consider. 

These are your children and you want to make sure they get the absolute best possible care available, so this is not a decision that should be rushed.

Types of Childcare Choices

For parents who want ongoing regular childcare help the most common options are a nanny (aka Aupair), in home childcare or daycare, or a daycare centre. 

Finding the right type of childcare will differ from family to family.

It’s such a personal thing and what may work for someone else may not be the best choice for you.  

Take a look below for a short explanation of the different types of childcare mentioned above:

Nanny/ Au Pair

Nannies or au pairs work in your home and usually only take care of one family’s children unless they only work part-time.

Finding a nanny who will work during the hours you want is fairly easy, even if you happen to work irregular hours. 

Some nannies are available to come to your house in the morning and leave in the evening, while others may occasionally stay overnight, or they may even live-in. 

Depending on the type of work a nanny or au pair is willing to do, they might be able to take on other duties, such as fetching them from school, taking them to activities or helping them with homework.

When hiring a nanny, make sure to look for someone whose child-rearing value system is similar to your own. 

This can be a bit tricky if they are much younger and don’t yet have kids of their own, in which case you’ll have to vet them quite carefully to get a feel for them.

Nannies generally cost more than a daycare.

In-Home Daycare

In-home daycare is usually offered in the childcare provider’s home.

These providers may take care of their own young children at the same time or may also take care of other children, in addition to yours. 

Typically, you will find that a home daycare includes a small, mixed-age group of children. You can expect your child to remain with the same caregiver throughout the day. 

In-home daycare providers don’t usually help you with errands, taking kids to activities or school, and offer overnight care, however, weekend babysitting or extended hours may be an option depending on the provider. 

In-home daycare is usually more affordable than a regular daycare facility.

Daycare Centre

A daycare centre is generally a licensed facility with many trained teachers, classrooms and nurseries that are separated by age, a registration process, a calendar that includes hours of operation, and an educational curriculum.

Which Home Childcare Is It Right for You?

I’m specifically discussing using a nanny versus in-home daycare here.

You have to think about what’s important for your kids, your budget and what’s ultimately going to be the most beneficial for all. 

Benefits

For in-home daycare, the home setting, rather than a facility setting, can feel a lot more personal and intimate than a daycare classroom, which appeals to some parents.

Nannies are based within your own home which can be greatly beneficial to the child as they don’t need to get used to a new space.  

Cost: In-home child care is usually less expensive than formal daycare or hiring a nanny. 

Low child-to-care provider ratio: There are fewer children at a home daycare than a traditional daycare centre, which can mean more personal attention and less exposure to illness. With a nanny or au pair your child will have complete personal 1:1 attention and also less exposure to illness as the nanny is based in your home.

Continuous care: You will find that many home childcare providers take care of babies from a very young age and continue to care for them through toddler age, unlike traditional daycare centres that make them change classrooms. Same with a nanny, if you find a good one that stays for a long time they will be able to care for the child continuously, which can be of great benefit to a child—instead of having a new nanny every few months.  

Socialisation: With a home childcare provider your baby will be able to get a good amount of facetime and socialisation with other kids in an in-home daycare, instead of the more private setting with a nanny at home.

Reliability: Many in-home childcare providers are typically more flexible than traditional daycare centres and they often offer extended or flexible hours. This can be a great help to parents who may have varying or nontraditional schedules. Nannies and au pairs are also very reliable as they are directly employed by you and will typically only work for one family at a time.

Drawbacks

Some parents may prefer a more structured environment for their children and they may also not want to have to manage a nanny.

Other drawbacks may include:

Lack of licensing and training: Home daycares are usually unlicensed and don’t need providers to have child care training. They are not regularly inspected for quality, and may not follow guidelines regarding child-to-caregiver ratios, group size, activities, materials, and safety etc. Same can be said about nannies and au pairs but they usually come with a host of references and experience of working with children. 

No backup care provided: An in-home daycare centre usually only has one or two caregivers, so if one or two of them get sick or have to take care of personal issues, there is usually no backup caregiver. This would also be the case for a nanny or an au pair, there’s only one of them.

Questions to Ask

When choosing in-home childcare or a nanny it’s important to ask the right questions on topics such as safety, cost, hours, sick child or sick caregiver policies. 

For home childcare or daycare ask all of the following questions:

  • Are they CPR and first aid certified?
  • Are there plans in place for a lost, sick or injured child? 
  • Any regularly practised emergency plans? What happens in cases of fires, floods or other natural disasters?
  • Who else will be in the house when my child is there? Ask about all adults, teens, and elders in the home. Find out what roles, if any, they will play in your child’s care and what their qualifications and experience with kids are.
  • Does your insurance cover my child? Find out if the childcare provider’s homeowner’s insurance covers injuries to your child during childcare hours, even though you hope you will never need to use it.

Interviewing for a nanny or au pair? Ask all of the following questions:

Questions about the position:

  • Why do you want this job?
  • What are you looking for in your next position?
  • Do you have any questions about the job description?
  • Do you know your way around my town/city/neighborhood?

Questions about training, education and background:

  • Why did you get involved in child care work?
  • How long have you been a caregiver?
  • Do you have (or are you willing to get) CPR or baby first-aid training?
  • What is your education level? 
  • Have you taken classes in child care? Would you be willing to take classes if presented with the opportunity?
  • Are you fluent in any other languages besides English? If so, would you be comfortable speaking in another language to the children?

Questions about their work experience:

  • Why did you leave your last job?
  • What are the ages of the children you’ve cared for?
  • What are your favorite ages to care for and why?
  • What is your favorite part about being a nanny? What’s your least favorite part?
  • What was the most challenging experience you had with a child you were taking care of?
  • Have you ever had to handle an emergency or been witness to a life-threatening situation with a child? If yes, what happened and how did you react? 
  • Do you have experience with children who have medical needs?
  • Are you comfortable administering medicine? 
  • Do you have experience preparing bottles?
  • Do you have experience following dietary restrictions and avoiding food allergies? 
  • Do you have experience introducing a baby to solid food?
  • Do you have experience navigating unusual or difficult family dynamics?
  • Tell me about the work style of your past employers. Was it a casual environment, or was there a strict schedule?
  • What additional duties did you perform in your previous jobs? Did you do any light cleaning or run household errands?

Questions about lifestyle:

  • What do you see yourself doing in the future?
  • What do you like to do in your free time?
  • Do you have any hobbies or do you pursue any interests outside of work?
  • Do you have any dietary restrictions?

Care

For either a nanny or in-home childcare, make sure to ask them about what their policy is regarding discipline.

Be sure that you and the provider are on the same page when it comes to managing behaviour issues, crying, rules, and anything else that may concern you.

Time Off

For in-home childcare, it’s also important to understand policies for personal emergencies and time off.

For a nanny or an au pair, you have more of a say here. Ask the childcare provider about time-off for holidays, a backup plan, and whether you are still expected to pay if either of you cancels without enough notice given?

What To Look For When You Visit An In-home Daycare

Keep your eyes open for the following things:

  • Happy children
  • Compassionate caregivers
  • A stimulating environment
  • The interaction between age groups
  • A clean and healthy setting
  • Adequate space
  • Safety measures
  • Open communication
  • Licensing
  • Good reputation

Don’t be scared to ask for references and find other parents who are using or seeking in-home childcare. 

Chat to those parents about their experience and ask for suggestions on places or providers they would recommend. 

It’s imperative that you do your due diligence in researching the provider and be sure to follow your instincts as you make your decision.

8 Tips for Choosing Child Care

1. Look Down

When visiting a potential in-home childcare provider or if you’re interviewing a nanny or au pair, pay attention to how they interact with the children or child. 

Ideally, a caregiver should be on the floor playing with the kids or holding one on their lap. For babies, it’s extremely important in their early years that they receive close, loving and interactive attention with adults in order to blossom.

I know I would want my baby to be around a caregiver who is warm and responsive, and that I know they will get enough one-on-one time and not just be left lying in their crib. 

2. Ask For A Commitment

Babies need consistent, predictable care. It helps them to form a secure attachment to their caregivers, according to Debra K. Shatoff, a family therapist in private practice in St. Louis.

If you’re looking at a nanny, request that the person you’re considering make a one-year commitment to the job.

If you’re considering an in-home daycare or traditional daycare centre, find out how long the current caregivers have been working there and how much turnover the centre usually experiences.

3. Do A Policy Check

Find out whether you share parenting philosophies on topics such as discipline; TV; feeding; sleeping and so on.

Also, ask about what the sick-child policy is (what symptoms prevent a child from attending?).

The more questions (refer to questions earlier in the article) you ask early on, the more prepared you can be for any eventuality. 

4. Drop By And Spy

The best way to see whether a child care provider (nanny or in-home daycare) is a good fit is to drop by unexpectedly to see how they are interacting with the kids. If you are interviewing a nanny, a good way to do this is to give them a trial run and then pop in on them when they’re with your kids.

5. Communicate Clearly

You want to make sure you are able to communicate clearly with the caregiver. If they are looking after your baby who is unable to speak yet, ask them to fill you in on all the details you missed and you do the same for them. You should both be on the same page at all times.

6. Problem-solve Pronto

It is very likely that you will experience conflicts with your caregiver. At the end of the day, we are all human and this is completely normal. 

Make sure to address any problems that come up right away rather than ignoring them until they grow even bigger than necessary.

You’ll be able to resolve some issues fairly quickly, while others may take more time. Always be respectful during any conflict and find ways to problem solve as opposed to pointing fingers.

7. Trust Your Gut Always

Every parent knows when something just doesn’t feel quite right.

LISTEN TO THIS.

That nudge in your gut (or intuition) is coming up for a reason, never ignore it.

8. Be Open To Change

As Jim Rohn says, “If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree.”

You are not bound to a situation or person forever, if things don’t feel good, you can always change things. 

Yes, consistency for your children is important, but ultimately you want them to have the most positive experience with their caregiver and if that means you must alter arrangements, then so be it — kids are resilient, so do what’s going to be best for them.

My Top Delicious Mocktails Recipes For Any Occasion


These mocktails recipes are so delicious and ideal for when you’re wanting to avoid alcohol. 

I found with lockdown my alcohol intake increased just because of spending more time at home (one glass of vino can easily turn into 3), so after doing the C9 cleanse recently I knew it’s important for my health to begin to be more conscious of my alcohol consumption (maybe you can relate). 

Drinking water all the time can be rather boring, so my new love is making mocktails for when I know I’m going to be social but don’t want to necessarily drink. 

These non-alcoholic mixed drinks can be just as exciting and refreshing as any cocktail. There are a variety of ways you can mix up juices, sodas, and syrups to create invigorating beverages that everyone can enjoy. 

And to give these mocktails a Forever twist, I’ve included Forever Aloe Vera Gel, Forever Bee Honey and Forever Fab Active Boost into the recipe mix.

Benefits of Mocktails

1. They’re Healthier Without the Alcohol

Mocktails are generally much healthier than their alcoholic counterparts. You can enjoy as much of their deliciousness as you want without getting intoxicated. 

And by limiting your intake of alcohol you also lessen any contribution to chronic diseases which excessive alcohol consumption may cause. 

Alcohol in general is inflammatory and can cause discomfort in the gut so best to always listen to your body. 

2. They Can Help with Socializing If You’re Avoiding Alcohol

For some people, mocktails are a great option if you are wanting to avoid alcohol but don’t want to just drink water the whole night. 

If all your friends are clinking their Cosmos to toast the newest Bachelor episode, having a delish mocktail will make it that much more fun. 

3. They’re Safe for Children and Pregnant Women

Mocktails are generally safe for women who are pregnant, as long as they don’t replace water on a regular basis. They’re also child-friendly, especially the sweet and festive ones. 

Although you do want to be careful about introducing children to drinking culture through colourful drinks — the way candy cigarettes were a nicotine-free way to get kids to relate positively to smoking.

Best Mocktails 

Lime Rickey

Lime Rickey

Ingredients: 

30ml Lime Juice 

30ml Sugar Syrup 

15ml Orange Bitters 

50ml Forever Aloe Vera Gel 

120ml Soda Water 

1 Lime

Directions: 

Take the limes and squeeze them into a glass, then pour in the sugar syrup and add the orange bitters. Top the glass with a shaker and shake the contents thoroughly. Take a tall glass, add ice and pour the shaken contents through a strainer and into the glass. Add the soda water and stir

Garnish with lime peel. Drink and enjoy!

The Real Shirley Temple

Ingredients: 

45ml Grenadine 

180ml Ginger Ale 

One lemon

Optional: Replace Ginger ale with Forever Fab or Forever Fab X 

Directions:

Pour grenadine into a tall glass and add ice. Pour in ginger ale or Fab Active Boost and stir. Garnish with lemon peel.

Ingredients: 

60ml Pomegranate Juice 

30ml Soda Water

1 serving Pomegranate Seeds 

1 Lime

1 Tom Collins Glass 

Forever Aloe Vera Gel 50ml

Directions: 

Squeeze lime into Tom Collins glass and add ice. Pour in pomegranate juice and add soda water. Garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds. Stir, enjoy!

Christmas Mocktails

Cranberry Spice From the Waldorf Astoria Chicago

Ingredients: 

44ml sparkling water

60ml cranberry juice

4 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters

73ml apple cider

50ml Forever Aloe Vera Gel 

10 cranberries (plus additional for garnish)

Orange wedge

Directions:

Muddle cranberries and orange wedge in cranberry juice, and then pour in the rest of the ingredients and stir with a spoon. Garnish with cranberries and orange peel and serve on ice.

Ingredients: 

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 cup dark brown sugar or 1 cup of Forever Bee Honey

1 cup Monk Fruit 

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom

1/16 teaspoon ground cloves

Boiling water

Half and half or heavy cream

Directions:

Combine the butter, sugar, monk fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and cloves in a mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until thoroughly combined. Use immediately, or transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.

To make each drink, scoop 1 1/2-2 tablespoons of the buttered spice mixture into a small mug. 

Pour 1/4 cup of boiling hot water into the cup and stir or whisk to dissolve completely. Add 1-2 tablespoons of half and half or cream, and stir once more. Taste, add more water or cream, as desired.

Non-Alcoholic Eggnog By Lacey Baier of A Sweet Pea Chef

Ingredients: 

2 cups milk

5 whole cloves

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/4 cup sweetened, condensed milk

4 egg yolks

1/2 cup granulated sugar or Forever Bee Honey

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 tsp ground nutmeg, plus more for garnish

1 tsp vanilla extract

Non-Alcoholic Eggnog By Lacey Baier of A Sweet Pea Chef

Directions:

Combine milk, cloves, cinnamon and condensed milk over low heat in a deep saucepan until the mixture is no longer chilled and is heated through. Slowly increase the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a low boil, careful not to allow a rolling boil. 

In a medium bowl, combine the eggs and sugar. Beat eggs until lightened in color and fluffy. Slowly temper the eggs by adding about 1 tbsp. at a time of the hot milk mixture into the egg and sugar mixture. 

Once enough of the milk is in the egg mixture, pour it all back into the saucepan. Heat over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened enough to leave a clean line on the back of a spoon. 

Add the heavy whipping cream, nutmeg and vanilla extract to the mixture and heat through. Do not bring to a boil. Strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer to catch the spices. 

Place in an airtight container in the refrigerator and let cool for at least one hour, preferably longer. Serve cold. Garnish with additional nutmeg if desired.

Watermelon Slush

Watermelon Slush

Ingredients: 

1 cup watermelon (deseeded and cubed)

50ml Forever Aloe Vera Gel 

2 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk

4-5 mint sprigs (chopped)

Directions:

Freeze the watermelon cubes overnight. Blend the watermelon cubes with almond milk and Forever Aloe Vera Gel into a smooth liquid. Pour in a serving glass and garnish with chopped mint sprigs.

Rosemary Blueberry Smash

Ingredients: 

1 cup fresh blueberries

3 rosemary sprigs

2tsp Forever Bee Honey

3tbsp fresh lemon juice

½ cup ice cubes

Rosemary Blueberry Smash

Directions:

Put all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and gently press the blueberries and rosemary with the back of a spoon to release juices.

Now add some ice and shake the cocktail shaker vigorously for seven to eight minutes.

Once the blueberries and rosemary sprig are well bruised, strain the juice into a serving glass, add some fresh ice, and serve immediately.

Pineapple Orange Mocktail

Pineapple Orange Mocktail

Ingredients: 

1 cup fresh pineapple juice

1/4 cup fresh orange juice

50ml Forever Aloe Peaches 

1tsp Forever Bee Honey

1tbsp fresh cilantro (chopped)

1 cup crushed ice

Directions:

Put crushed ice in a cocktail shaker and pour pineapple, orange juice and Forever Aloe Peaches over the ice. Add Forever Bee Honey and cilantro, and shake the mixture thoroughly for five minutes. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Healthy Mocktails

Pina Colada Mocktail

Ingredients: 

2 ripe bananas

1 cup fresh pineapple (diced)

1 cup pineapple juice

½ cup coconut milk

2 cup ice cubes

2-3 pineapple wedges (thinly sliced, for garnish)

Optional for extra health boost: 50ml Forever Aloe Vera Gel 

Pina Colada Mocktail

Directions:

Blend banana, pineapple pieces, pineapple juice, ice, and coconut milk in a blender. Pour the mixture into a red wine or martini glass, garnish with pineapple wedges, and serve immediately.

Spiced Kombucha Moscow Mules by Golubka Kitchen

Spiced Kombucha Moscow Mules by Golubka Kitchen

Serves: 2

Ingredients: 

2½ tablespoons ginger juice, from approximately 4″ piece ginger

3 cups kombucha

50ml Forever Aloe Vera Gel 

juice of 2 large limes, plus more lime quarters for serving

handful mint leaves

freshly ground cloves – to taste

nutmeg, cinnamon or both – to taste

Directions:

Shred the ginger. Place the shredded ginger into a piece of layered cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer, squeeze out the juice into a cup or bowl. Combine ginger juice with kombucha and lime juice in a large vessel and mix.

Muddle some ice and chopped mint leaves at the bottom of each mug or glass. Distribute the mixture between glasses. Grate fresh cloves, nutmeg/cinnamon over each mug/glass. Garnish with lime quarters, more mint leaves and serve.

Clean Eating Bloody Mary by The Healthy Family and Home

Equipment:

Juicer

Ingredients:

For the juice:

6 organic celery stalks

5 organic tomatoes

2 cloves organic garlic

50ml Forever Aloe Vera Gel 

For the seasoning:

1/8 teaspoon organic celery seed

1/4 teaspoon organic garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon Himalayan pink salt

1 pinch organic cayenne pepper

Clean Eating Bloody Mary by The Healthy Family and Home

Directions:

Prepare the juice:

Using a juicer, juice the tomatoes, celery, and garlic cloves (alternating the tomatoes and celery). Strain the pulp from the juiced veggies and add the strained juice to your glass. Mix in Forever Aloe Gel (optional)

Add the seasonings:

Add the seasonings and stir until well combined. Taste and adjust the seasonings to your preference.

Note: Start with a very small pinch of cayenne and only add more if needed.

Optional: Garnish with a celery stalk

Serving Size: This recipe will make approximately 1 1/2 cups of juice.

Fruit Juice Mocktails

Orange Juice Mocktail by The Worktop

Ingredients:

1/2 cup / 120ml orange juice – frozen into ice cube spheres

240ml sparkling water 

50ml Forever Aloe Peaches 

2 tbsp grenadine syrup (use more or less depending on your preference)

2 tsp vanilla syrup (optional) (use more or less depending on your preference) or 2 tsp Forever Bee Honey

1 sprig rosemary

Directions:

Place two orange juice ice cube spheres into a 350ml sized glass. Add in sparkling water. Slowly pour in the grenadine syrup. If you would like, slowly pour in the vanilla syrup or Forever Bee Honey. Serve with a sprig of rosemary and a straw.

Notes: 

You can also make this recipe with orange juice frozen into normal ice cubes. Depending on the size of your ice cube tray, use about 4-6 ice cubes per drink.

Winter Mocktails

Elderberry Fizz  

Known for its antiviral and immune-boosting properties, elderberry syrup is used as a tonic during cold-and-flu season. Its flavor is reminiscent of a good red wine with dark-fruit undertones, providing a sweet-yet-sophisticated quality to this mocktail.

Serves 2

Ingredients:

¼ cup elderberry syrup (substitute 100 percent elderberry juice for Forever Aloe Berry)

½ lime, cut into 4 slices 

240ml chilled sparkling water or Forever Fab or Fab X

Elderberry Fizz

Directions: 

Pour 2 tablespoons elderberry syrup or Forever Aloe Berry into each glass. Squeeze a slice of lime into each and fill with sparkling water or sparkling fruit juice. Garnish with remaining lime slices.

Winter “Sangria”   

Elderberry Fizz

This antioxidant-rich, wine-free take on sangria features flavorful elderberry and pomegranate juices. Prepare this the night before serving so the fruit flavors can meld. 

Ingredients: 

950ml pomegranate-juice blend, such as pomegranate-cranberry or pomegranate-cherry (look for 100 percent juice) 

2 cups elderberry juice or Forever Aloe Berry

2 cinnamon sticks

1 lemon, thinly sliced 

1 lime, thinly sliced 

1 ripe pear, peeled, seeded, and diced

1 Granny Smith apple, seeded and diced

1 cup red grapes, cut in half

4 cups sparkling water

Directions:

In a large jug, mix pomegranate and elderberry juices or Forever Aloe Berry; add cinnamon sticks and fruits. Cover and steep for at least a few hours, preferably overnight. Serve in wine glasses, distributing the fruit among them and adding sparkling water for a little fizz.

Faux Irish Cream

Serves 6

Ingredients:

1 can full-fat coconut milk

¼ cup maple syrup or Forever Bee Honey

1 tbs. vanilla extract (use vanilla-bean paste if you are avoiding alcohol)

1 shot espresso (about 60ml.)

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together and whisk until smooth. Serve at room temperature or chilled. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Being a Role Model For Your Kids: 7 Things Network Marketing Taught Me


Being a role model for your kids is something that all loving parents under the sun strive to be — it’s honestly why I get up every single morning!

Setting a good example and showing up for them prompted me to start a network marketing business some 14+ years ago now.

My career up until this point has taught me so much about myself and my own abilities, but more so about what it means to be a good role model for my kids and instil values in them that last a lifetime.

I want the lessons I’ve learned in network marketing to help inspire you to be an even better example to your kids!

In this article, I share 7 things that being in the MLM business has taught me about being a role model that my kids can look up to, what the most critical role model qualities are and some of my absolute favourite role model quotes — because, everyone needs a little inspiration every now and again!

What Network Marketing Has Taught Me About Being
a Role Model For My Kids  

1. Empathy 

No one is immune to the rollercoaster ride that is the human condition. 

Understanding that we are all fighting our own battles is where empathy comes in.

Being empathetic is one of the most important — and immensely powerful — qualities I’ve tapped into working in the network marketing business. 

In our industry, one’s business is only as strong as their ability to network. 

Without empathy you have no way of truly understanding what people around you are going through and how you might be able to inspire them to work alongside you.

Growing your business all comes down to being a good listener and leading with your heart.

Expressing empathy towards them when they feel they are not being heard shows them you are willing to listen and take in their perspective.  

Empathy teaches them about walking in someone else’s shoes and giving someone the time of day to ultimately inspire compassionate action — something the world can do with a whole lot more of today!

2. Respect

Being respectful is one of the many positive outcomes you achieve when you really empathize with anyone that you approach in this business and, for that matter, in life.

Treat someone like how you would like to be treated. 

Everyone is different, we all have our own goals and dreams, but when you treat those in your network and everyone else with respect it builds healthy relationships and a team that is dedicated to being the absolute best.

Now, it doesn’t always mean that if you treat someone with respect that you’ll get the same treatment back. 

The important thing to remember is that all we really have control of is our own actions and how we conduct ourselves — and our kids are watching and learning from us all the time.

Showing your kids to give respect and that they are respected gives them a sense of acceptance and feeling of maturity that hopefully leads to responsible behaviour and better decision-making.

3. Hard Work

As the saying goes, “You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.”

When it comes to succeeding in the network marketing game, there is absolutely no substitute for rolling up your sleeves and cracking on with it — you have to walk the talk!

Even though it has never been easier to get started, getting to #1 in the UK is not something that just happened overnight.

It took a burning drive and desire backed up with good old fashioned hard work over more than a decade to make my way to the top.

I felt like it was my mission to work as hard as I possibly could to give my kids the lives of their dreams and the whole process has shown them the value of complete dedication to whatever they choose to focus on in life.

We live in a society where we are all measured by our actions and cultivating an attitude of hard work and taking action is what separates those that succeed and those that never really get going.

The work you put in on a daily basis is a constant reminder to your kids what is necessary to reach goals they set out to achieve.  

By teaching them that they need to work for what they want out of this life, they learn the necessary skills to execute on fulfilling their dreams and makes everything earned so much sweeter.

4. Confidence

I’ve written a fair bit on how to be more confident and harnessing this quality is paramount to building any long-term network marketing business.

It’s the ability to network effectively, to know — and BELIEVE in — your product and what you’re selling, to have compelling presentations, to grow a confident team and so much more.

This is a skill that I had to learn from the ground on up and one that improves the more you put yourself out there! 

We’re all afraid of what we don’t know how to do well.

The trick to becoming successful is challenging yourself in areas that are not your forte, learning as you go and surprising yourself along the way. 

Putting myself out there helped me grow in confidence with every single passing year and it’s a valuable skill that I have been able to pass onto my kids.

It’s about teaching them to be comfortable in their own skin, knowing when to stand up for themselves (respectfully of course) and taking on challenges — especially if it scares them.

Without a fair dose of daily optimism delivered through self-development, gratitude practices and physical exercise — to get all those happy chemicals coursing through my blood — I’d say my business and attitude towards it would not be where it is today.

In life, the only constant is change!

So much rides on our ability to approach the changes around us with optimism.

6. Integrity

Honestly, the network marketing industry has gotten a bad rap due to a number of fraudulent companies over the years and it’s a shame that often we’re painted with the same brush…

Being open, honest and trustworthy is the only way that one can feasibly grow a substantial network that aligns with how an MLM business is supposed to work for everyone. 

Luckily, I’ve been blessed to work with a company like Forever Living that upholds the same core values that I do when it comes to building a business where people are our biggest asset.

We’ve all learned about “honesty is the best policy” and with our kids it means leading from the front, having those hard but necessary conversations, creating a safe space for them to express their thoughts and holding them to task to finish what they start.

7. Humility 

We’re ever-evolving beings figuring out how to navigate our own way through this thing called life, “learning on the job” and making (many) mistakes as we go.

I have certainly made many mistakes in my professional life that I have to live with…

Eating some humble pie is a dish that I’ve turned to to help me discover how I could have handled a situation better — hindsight is 20/20 after all — but, most importantly, it teaches me how to not make the same mistakes so I can ultimately be a better person.

When we take an objective stance when things go wrong, we give ourselves the opportunity to correct the course so that we are remembered more for how we handled it than the actual mistake.

This teaches them about admitting when they’re wrong and becoming accountable for their actions because this is the intersection where they can start to build bridges to overcome missteps more efficiently in business and life.

How To Start A Home Fitness Routine For Mums Looking To Get Fit And Feel Fab


2020 has definitely necessitated us all having to learn how to start a home fitness routine thanks to Covid-19!

With gyms having had to close down people were forced to have to work out at home and for some, going back to the gym now seems pointless if you can get an epic workout done at home. 

This is definitely the case for me as I much prefer to do my training in the comfort of my own space where no one else has to see me turning as red as a tomato and in a puddle of my own sweat. 

If there is one thing that has benefited me greatly with everything that’s happened this year, it’s having a regular exercise routine. Not only for my body and health but also for my mind. 

So if you’re not yet exercising regularly I would encourage you to get a routine going asap!

In this article, I look at how to start a home fitness routine, best home fitness equipment to use, my fave home fitness apps and best home fitness programs — so whether you’re an avid exerciser or just starting out you’ll find value in this!

How To Start A Home Fitness Routine

1. Assess Your Fitness Level

You may already have some idea of how fit you are, but I always find it super useful to assess and record baseline fitness scores as these can give you benchmarks against which to measure your progress. 

To assess your aerobic and muscular fitness, flexibility, and body composition, consider recording:

  • Your pulse rate before and immediately after walking 1 mile (1.6 kilometres)
  • Time it takes to walk 1 mile, or how long it takes to run 1.5 miles (2.41 kilometres)
  • The amount of standard or modified pushups you can do at a time
  • How far you can reach forward towards your toes while seated on the floor with your legs in front of you
  • Your waist circumference, just above your hip bones
  • Your body mass index

2. Design Your Fitness Program

Having a set plan is so helpful especially if you have certain goals you want to reach.

If this is the case I would definitely recommend speaking to a professional who can help create this for you or look at doing one of the programs I suggest further below run by a certified professional. 

Some points to keep in mind: 

  • Consider what your fitness goals are — do you want to lose weight or build muscle? Or are you looking to prepare for a marathon? Having clear goals can help you gauge your progress and stay motivated.
  • Always start slow and progress carefully, especially if you’re just beginning to exercise. If you have an injury or a medical condition, consult your doctor or an exercise therapist for help designing a fitness program that gradually improves your range of motion, strength and endurance.
  • Finding time to exercise seems to be many peoples biggest challenge, so I encourage you to build this activity into your daily routine. Schedule this time into your diary if you have to, but make a commitment and stick to it!
  • Keep things interesting by switching things up and including different activities. Doing this (cross-training) can keep exercising fun so that you don’t feel like you’re doing the same thing day in day out. It’s also said that cross-training using low-impact forms of activity, such as biking or water exercise, can reduce your chances of injury or overusing one specific muscle or joint. So it’s a good idea to alternate among activities that use different parts of your body, such as walking, swimming and strength training.
  • Allow time for recovery in between sessions for your body to rest and recover.
  • Write your workout routine on paper, this may help and encourage you to stay on track.

3. Get Your Equipment

Depending on your workout regime, pick your equipment accordingly. 

A good start would be getting a decent pair of trainers that will last you. Make sure to select the right pair of trainers designed for the activity you have in mind. 

For example, running trainers are lighter in weight than cross-training shoes, which are more supportive.

When investing in exercise equipment make sure you choose things that are practical, enjoyable and easy to use.

4. Get Started

Now you are ready to get going! As you begin your workout routine, keep these tips in mind:

  • Always start slow and gradually build up to more extensive workouts. It’s so important to give yourself plenty of time to warm up and cool down with light walking or gentle stretching. You can gradually increase the amount of time you exercise as your stamina improves over time. Work your way up to 30 to 60 minutes of exercise most days of the week.
  • Break your workouts up if necessary. You don’t have to do all your exercise in one go, you could also weave in activity throughout your day. Shorter but more-frequent sessions have aerobic benefits, too. You may find that shorter sessions throughout the day work better for your schedule than a full 30-60 minute session. Do what works best for you, just remember that any amount of activity is better than none at all.
  • Get creative, you don’t always have to do the same workout every single day. Look at varying your activities with walking, cycling or swimming. Look at what activities you could do with your whole family, such as hiking etc. Make sure these are things you enjoy doing — it’s supposed to be fun. 
  • Always listen to your body and don’t push yourself past your edge. There’s a difference between being uncomfortable or feeling intense discomfort or pain. If you feel any pain, shortness of breath, dizziness or nausea, take a break and stop what you’re doing. You may be pushing yourself too hard. Give yourself time to recover and if you have any concerns, consult your doctor.

5. Monitor Your Progress

Just like you had done at the beginning with assessing your fitness level, you can do this again six weeks after you start your workout routine and then again every few months. 

If you find yourself losing motivation and drive, set new goals or try doing a new activity for variation.

I always find exercising with a mate (Zoom workouts work too) can be a lot of fun and it helps to have someone else keep you accountable or you can just be accountability partners doing the same workout routine.

My Top Aloe Vera Recipes To Nourish You From The Inside Out


I am so excited to share with you my top aloe vera recipes that will keep you nourished and feeling absolutely radiant! 

It can sometimes feel like every time you blink there seems to be a new fruit, vegetable, nut or superfood that comes on the scene, recommended for its beneficial properties and high nutrient values. 

However, one plant that deserves to truly stand in the light of all that is healthy is ‘aloe vera.’

This plant can often be understated and overlooked, but it’s well worth adding into your daily diet. 

In this article, I explore my favourite aloe vera recipes that are healthy and delicious and will keep you coming back time and time again. 

Get into something comfy and let’s dive right in.

What Is Aloe Vera? 

Aloe vera, often known as the ‘miracle plant’ is a short-stemmed shrub famous for the gel found in the plant’s leaves.

This gel is safe to extract from the leaves and can be used directly from the plant or it’s commercially sold in products like skin lotions, drinks, beauty products and ointments to name but a few.

Nutty Green Salad With Aloe And Soy

Green Salad

Serves 4

Salad

1 tbsp Forever Bee Honey

2 tsp soy sauce

1 tsp vegetable oil

250g mangetout

4 chives, chopped

100g baby Asian leaves

110g salted peanuts

Dressing

55g salted peanuts

1 tbsp Forever Bee Honey

180ml vegetable stock

4 tsp toasted sesame seeds

3 tbsp thick dark soy

1 tbsp Forever Aloe Vera Gel

For the dressing, put the peanuts, honey, vegetable stock, sesame seeds, dark soy and aloe gel in a food processor and blend. Set aside. For the salad, gently heat the honey, oil and soy sauce in a pan. Add the mangetout and lightly fry for a few minutes. Remove from the heat and toss in the chives. Toss the mangetout mixture with the Asian leaves and sprinkle the peanuts on top. Serve with the dressing on the side. This dish goes well with pork.

Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Risotto

Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Risotto

Serves 4

320g rice

½ onion

1 tbsp seed oil

60g butter

40g parmesan cheese

50g cranberries

1 pack of mushrooms

150ml Forever Aloe Berry Nectar

50g Mascarpone cheese

1 litre meat both

Salt and pepper to taste

Prepare the meat broth. In a pan, brown the onion with the seed oil and butter. Add the rice and Forever Aloe Berry Nectar. Mix everything together. Slowly add the broth and cook for 20 minutes. Once cooked, stir with the mascarpone and parmesan cheese, cranberries and a small amount of Forever Aloe Berry Nectar.

Scaloppini With Artichokes

Serves 4

8 veal slices

4 artichokes

2 garlic cloves

1 tbsp seed oil

½ onion

30g flour

1 plain yoghurt

2 tbsp cream

150ml vegetable broth

100ml Forever Aloe Vera Gel

50ml white wine

Salt and pepper to taste

Chopped parsley to taste

Wash and cut the artichokes into slices. Chop the garlic and onion and brown; add to the broth along with the Forever Aloe Vera Gel. Flour the veal slices and brown them with seed oil; season with salt and pepper. Remove the excess oil and spray with white wine. Add the yoghurt and cream and slow cook for 15 minutes. Spray with Forever Aloe Vera Gel and parsley before serving.

Three Citrus Quinoa Salad

Serves 4

Salad

185g cooked quinoa

112g crumbled feta

1 beetroot steamed 

2 oranges, segmented

1 grapefruit, segmented

100g wild rocket

Zest from 2 oranges

Salt

Dressing

105ml olive oil

4 tbsp lemon juice

3 tbsp Forever Bee Honey

Salt

Pepper

1 tsp Forever Aloe Peaches

Put quinoa aside until cooled. In a salad bowl, toss together quinoa, feta, orange, beetroot, grapefruit, wild rocket, orange zest and salt to taste. For the dressing, in a mixing bowl whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, honey, aloe and a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside. Serve salad with dressing.

Chicken Kebabs With Aloe And Avocado Dip

Serves 4

4 boneless chicken breast, sliced

4 flatbreads

1 lemon cut into wedges

Marinade

1 tbsp grated ginger

1 tbsp smoked paprika

1 tsp ground coriander

¼ tsp chilli powder

4 tbsp olive oil

Salt

Ground black pepper

Aloe and avocado dip

2 avocados

2 tbsp Forever Aloe Vera Gel

1 tsp ground cumin

1 lemon, juiced

1 clove of grated garlic

Handful of chopped coriander

1 tbsp olive oil

Mix together all the marinade ingredients with some salt and pepper. Add the chunks of chicken and refrigerate for 20 minutes. Wash avocados and remove stones; add to a bowl along with the aloe and avocado dip ingredients. Mash together with a fork and set aside. Heat up a pan and once nice and hot, add your marinated chicken and cook until golden brown and crispy (turn them occasionally). In another dry pan, heat up your flatbreads (about 30 seconds per side). Cut open the flatbreads and fill with chicken and dip; serve with a squeeze of lemon.

Aloe Peaches Sorbet

Aloe Peaches Sorbet

Treat yourself to this perfect after-dinner treat with a bit of a health boost!

1 pound ripe peaches (cut roughly into pieces)

2 tablespoons lemon juice

60ml Forever Aloe Peaches

60ml water

½ cup white sugar (replace with a sweetener of your choice) 

Add peaches to a blender and blend until completely smooth. Add to a bowl, stir in the lemon juice and place in the fridge.

Combine the water and sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir until sugar is dissolved (this should take around a minute). Remove from the stove and let it cool to room temperature, before adding the Forever Aloe Peaches and popping into the fridge for around an hour.

Pour the blended peach and lemon juice mix into the Forever Aloe Peaches and sugar mix into a freezer-safe container and ensure it’s well combined. Place in the freezer. Every 30 minutes or so, remove the sorbet from the freezer and use a fork to break it up and stir. Keep repeating this process until the mixture is completely frozen (4-5 hours).

Hydrating Kiwi And Berry Aloe Popsicles

Kiwi And Berry Aloe Popsicles

1 kiwi fruit

1 bottle Forever Aloe Berry Nectar

Peel the kiwi and cut into quarters.  

Blend kiwi and 1/2 cup of Forever Aloe Berry Nectar until desired consistency (somewhere between smooth and chunky tastes good)

Pour into popsicle moulds and freeze until solid.

This delicious vegan soup is packed with all the nutritious vitamins to give you that perfect healthy meal especially if you are watching your weight. 

I like to take it up a notch by adding a sachet of Forever Supergreens – which is also completely vegan-friendly!

2 tsp olive oil

½ large onion (chopped)

4 garlic cloves (chopped)

650ml vegetable stock

1 broccoli (chopped)

2 celery stalks (chopped)

1 cup green peas

120g spinach

1 400g can cannellini beans

Juice of 1 lemon

2 tbsp chopped fresh dill

Salt and pepper (to taste)

1 sachet Forever Supergreens

In a large pot over a medium heat, heat the olive oil and fry the onions for 3-4 minutes, until they begin to soften. Add the garlic and fry for a further 1-2 minutes.

Add the vegetable stock, broccoli, celery and peas. Turn down the heat to medium-low and simmer for 1-15 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Transfer the soup to a blender and add the spinach, beans, lemon juice, dill, salt and pepper. Blend until smooth, then pour the soup back into the pot and add in your sachet of Forever Supergreens. Remember to taste-test and adjust seasonings as necessary.

A smoothie is a quick, fresh and nourishing way to start the day and this one especially packs a healthy kick with the benefits of the vitamin-packed leafy green, kale and Aloe Vera Gel.

70g kale

250ml Forever Aloe Vera Gel (try each flavour for a different twist!)

½ orange

100g pineapple

½ banana

Place kale, orange and Aloe Vera Gel into a blender. Puree until smooth. Then add the remaining ingredients and blend.

Pineapple, Cucumber And Aloe Smoothie

1 slice of pineapple

1 tablespoon of Forever Aloe Vera Gel 

1 cup of water 

½ a cucumber

The best time to drink this juice is after you’ve had your lunch. 

Pineapple has the ability to improve digestion and cleanse your body, while cucumber is hydrating and has fibre, which further improves your digestion.

Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend well until you get a smooth texture. Having this smoothie when feeling hungry after you have had your lunch is suggested.

184g frozen pineapple

240ml coconut water

1 small handful of kale

½  large cucumber, peeled

½  avocado, peeled

1 tsp chia seeds

1 sachet Forever Supergreens

Blend all together and voila!

Berry Nectar Mojito

Serves 1

½ Lime

Several Mint leaves

50ml Forever Aloe Berry Nectar

150ml Cranberry Juice

Soda Water, to taste

Ice

Fresh Cranberries, for garnish

Cut one thin slice from the widest section of your lime. Then squeeze the juice from the rest of the half into a small jug. Add the mint leaves and a small amount of Forever Aloe Berry Nectar to the jug and mix together. Using the end of a rolling pin is helpful. Pour this mixture into a tall glass.

Add a handful of ice to the glass and pour over the remaining Forever Aloe Berry Nectar and the cranberry juice. Mix carefully with a spoon. 

Top up with soda water, then serve with fresh cranberries and your lime slice on the side of the glass.

Tropical Sunshine

Serves 1

25ml Forever Aloe Berry Nectar

25ml Forever Aloe Peaches

150ml peach juice

30ml orange juice

20ml grenadine

Mix all ingredients together in a glass. For a fancy touch, serve with a pineapple ring on the side of the glass.

How Does The C9 Plan Work?

The C9 programme aims to help shape your body’s abilities and give it that springboard health kick it needs to keep on going long past the cleanse’s completion.

The Clean 9 cleanse is broken into three parts.

Part One: Days 1–2

Part Two: Days 3–8

  • Breakfast: 2 Garcinia Plus softgels, 1/2 a cup of aloe vera gel with a glass of water, 1 Forever Therm tablet and 1 meal replacement drink (made with 1.25 cups of skimmed milk).
  • Workout: Follow breakfast with 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise.
  • Snack: 1 Forever Fiber stick with water.
  • Lunch: 2 Garcinia Plus softgels, 1 Forever Therm tablet and 1 meal replacement drink (made with 1.25 cups of skimmed milk).
  • Dinner: 2 Garcinia Plus softgels and a 600-calorie meal. Men can have an additional 200 calories or an extra meal replacement shake.

Part Three: Day 9

  • Breakfast: 2 Garcinia Plus softgels, 1/2 cup of aloe vera gel with a glass of water, 1 Forever Therm tablet and 1 meal replacement drink (made with 1.25 cups of skimmed milk).
  • Workout: Follow breakfast with 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise.

Some Advice for Best Results During The C9 Cleanse

  • Take your measurements: Take a front and side photo of yourself before starting the cleanse and record your body measurement and weight in the booklet. At the end of the cleanse take the same photos again in the same thing you were wearing at the beginning and in the same lighting. By doing this you will be able to compare and see your results. 
  • Choose three realistic goals you are committed to achieving during the 9 day cleanse.
  • Follow the instructions clearly outlined in the booklet provided: Note your daily exercises, menus and your energy of the day. This will help you to be mindful of your results and your progress at the end of the cleanse. 
  • Drink plenty of water: the recommendation on how much water to drink will be mentioned in the booklet.
  • Don’t weigh yourself every day: I suggest doing it on day 1 and day 9, Let your body do its thing without you obsessing over whether you’re losing weight or not. For me the aim of C9 is to give my body a break so I can reset and boost it with all the good nutrients — the weight-management is just an amazing byproduct of it. 
  • Take it easy on the salt intake: use spices and herbs instead of salt as it can cause water retention.

Post C9 Cleanse — What Happens Next?

As I mentioned earlier the C9 cleanse is a great way to give yourself that health kick and get you feeling fit and healthy.

C9 Cleanse FAQs

Is the Forever Living C9 programme safe?

Yes. The Forever Living C9 weight management programme is meant to run for nine days only. You should consult your doctor if you have any medical conditions before you begin the programme. Anyone with the following conditions: kidney disease, epilepsy, diabetes, dementia or heart disease should not embark on this weight-management programme. Children and anyone with a BMI below 25, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, are not eligible for this programme. Consult your doctor before starting this programme if your BMI exceeds 30. Please note that Forever Fiber can cause gastrointestinal changes because of an abrupt increase in fibre while Forever Therm has some caffeine in it. These symptoms can be remedied by drinking more water.

How much weight can I expect to lose on the C9 programme?

During the Forever Living C9 weight-management programme, the amount of weight you will lose hinges on your baseline factors, and it includes your weight and your lifestyle as at the time you began the programme.

Are food supplements diet foods?

No. In the Forever Living C9 weight-management programme, the food supplements do not independently complement weight-management. The food supplements are specially prepared to offer you increased benefits while you attain your lifestyle and diet ambitions.

Forever Lite Ultra is rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals. On the other hand, Forever Fiber has low saturated fat content, but is rich in fibre. Chromium is one of the ingredients in Forever Garcinia Plus, and it gives us a healthy macronutrient metabolism and also maintains our blood glucose levels.

To help reduce tiredness and fatigue, Forever Therm has also been specially prepared to offer vitamin and mineral boost, such as vitamin B2, B6, and B12.

Will I feel hungry during the programme?

You may feel hunger pangs, especially in the first two days after starting the programme. Please refer to the free foods section of the C9 booklet for more information.

The first two days of the programme seem difficult! Do I have to follow them exactly as outlined?

If you miss the first two days of the Forever Living C9 weight-management programme, it can affect your overall result. Please remember to consult the free foods on page 15. During the reset phase, symptoms such as low energy, gastrointestinal changes, and headaches are normal.

Why do I need protein?

The building block of every cell in your body is protein. Thus, to build and maintain muscles and tissues in your body, your body requires amino acids which can only be extracted from protein.

Non-inclusion of an adequate amount of protein in your calorie restriction can lead to a loss of muscle mass ahead of when you begin to shed the fat. Rich in protein, Forever Lite Ultra is specially made for upwardly mobile folks.

Why should I drink so much water per day (at least, 8 glasses)?

Water takes up about 72% of our body mass, and we have the duty of replenishing its supply. Water plays a role in the maintenance of the body’s internal temperature. Water also aids the maintenance of regular physical and cognitive operations of our bodies.

As long as I monitor my calorie intake, can I eat whatever foods i want?

If you want your body to change, then one of the critical things you must do is to change the way you see food. For optimum results, we advise that you adhere strictly to the programme as indicated in the C9 booklet. You will not have the perfect balance of nutrients because foods which are low in calories may not provide you with that.

Is C9 ok for vegetarians and vegans?

It is determined by how uncompromising you are as a vegetarian or vegan. In the Clean 9 programme, Garcinia Plus remains the most important non-vegetarian ingredient, and it comes in the form of a gel capsule.  Nevertheless, except you are opposed to buying the product because of its gelatin content, you can easily cut open the shell of Garcinia Plus and take out its contents.

First C9 programme I started was in May.
